Abstract

Described herein are neurotrophic and nootropic compositions and methods for treating subjects with such compositions. In one aspect the composition comprises one or more tryptamines or in pure form or extracts from psilocybin containing mushrooms, or combinations thereof optionally combined with one or more phenethylamines or amphetamines in pure form or extracts from a plant or mushroom, or combinations thereof, optionally one or more erinacines or hericenones in pure form, extracts from Hericium mushroom species (e.g., H. erinaceus, H. coralloides, H. ramosum ) or combinations thereof, optionally one or more cannabinoids in pure form or extracts from Cannabis sativa, Cannabis sativa, Cannabis indica , or Cannabis ruderalis , optionally, one or more adversive compounds, and optionally one or more pharmaceutically acceptable excipients.

Claims (24)

1. A pharmaceutical composition comprising:

0.1 mg to 10 mg of N-methyl-3,4-methylenedioxy-amphetamine (MDMA);

0.1 mg to 10 mg of niacin; and

0.1 mg to 10 mg of a tryptamine selected from norpsilocin, psilocin or psilocybin, norbaeocystin, aeruginascin, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.

2. The composition of claim 1 , wherein the tryptamine is norpsilocin, a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, or a combination thereof.

3. The composition of claim 1 , wherein the tryptamine is psilocin or psilocybin, a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, or a combination thereof.

4. The composition of claim 1 , wherein the tryptamine is norbaeocystin, a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, or a combination thereof.

5. The composition of claim 1 , wherein the tryptamine is aeruginascin, a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, or a combination thereof.

6. The composition of claim 1 , wherein the composition further comprises one or more pharmaceutically acceptable excipients.

7. The composition of claim 1 , wherein the composition is a powder admixture, liquid, suspension, or emulsion.

8. The composition of claim 1 , wherein the composition is a pharmaceutical dosage form in a capsule.

9. The composition of claim 1 , wherein the composition is effective to induce neurite growth and neurite lengthening in a subject in need thereof.

10. A pharmaceutical composition comprising:

0.1 mg to 10 mg of N-methyl-3,4-methylenedioxy-amphetamine (MDMA); and

0.1 mg to 10 mg of psilocin or psilocybin, a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, or a combination thereof.

11. The composition of claim 10 , further comprising 0.1 mg to 10 mg of niacin.

12. The composition of claim 10 , wherein the composition further comprises one or more pharmaceutically acceptable excipients.

13. The composition of claim 10 , wherein the composition is a powder admixture, liquid, suspension, or emulsion.

14. The composition of claim 10 , wherein the composition is a pharmaceutical dosage form in a capsule.

15. The composition of claim 10 , wherein the composition is effective to induce neurite growth and neurite lengthening in a subject in need thereof.

16. A pharmaceutical composition comprising:

0.1 mg to 10 mg of N-methyl-3,4-methylenedioxy-amphetamine (MDMA);

0.1 mg to 10 mg of niacin; and

0.1 mg to 10 mg of norpsilocin, a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, or a combination thereof.
