Abstract

A wireless device may be instructed to activate one or more cells operating in different frequency bands. The wireless device may apply actions associated with activation of the cells. The actions may be applied for the cells within different durations after receiving one or more commands to activate the cells.

Claims (138)

1 . A method comprising:

receiving, by a wireless device, one or more commands to activate:

a first cell operating in a first frequency band; and

a second cell operating in a second frequency band;

applying, for the first cell and no later than a first duration after the receiving the one or more commands, one or more first actions associated with activation of the first cell; and

applying, for the second cell and no later than a second duration after the receiving the one or more commands, one or more second actions associated activation of the second cell, wherein the first duration is different from the second duration.

2 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising receiving one or more configuration parameters for at least one of the first cell or the second cell, wherein the one or more configuration parameters comprise a deactivation timer.

3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein:

the one or more first actions comprise starting, before the first duration after the receiving the one or more commands, transmission of channel state information (CSI) for the first cell; and

the one or more second actions comprise starting, before the second duration after the receiving the one or more commands, transmission of CSI for the second cell.

4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein:

the one or more first actions comprise starting, before the first duration after the receiving the one or more commands and before channel state information (CSI) is available for the first cell, transmission of out of range (OOR) CSI for the first cell; and

the one or more second actions comprise starting, before the second duration after the receiving the one or more commands and before CSI is available for the second cell, transmission of OOR CSI for the second cell.

5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the first duration is shorter than the second duration.

6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein a first activation delay of the first cell is shorter than a second activation delay of the second cell.

7 . The method of claim 1 , wherein at least one of the one or more first actions or the one or more second actions comprise monitoring a physical downlink control channel.

8 . The method of claim 1 , wherein at least one of the first duration or the second duration comprises a subframe.

9 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising transmitting an indication that the wireless device supports configuration of at least one of:

the first cell; or

the second cell.

10 . The method of claim 1 , wherein:

the first cell is an unlicensed cell and the first frequency band is an unlicensed frequency band; and

the second cell is a licensed cell and the second frequency band is a licensed frequency band.

11 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the receiving the one or more commands to activate the first cell and the second cell comprises receiving a single command to activate both the first cell and the second cell.

12 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the receiving the one or more commands to activate the first cell and the second cell comprises:

receiving a first command to activate the first cell; and

receiving a second command to activate the second cell.

13 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the applying the one or more second actions is after the applying the one or more first actions.

14 . The method of claim 1 , wherein:

the receiving the one or more commands comprises receiving, during a transmission time interval (TTI) the one or more commands;

the applying the one or more first actions comprises applying, before the first duration after the TTI, the one or more first actions; and

the applying the one or more second actions comprises applying, before the second duration after the TTI, the one or more second actions.

15 . The method of claim 1 , wherein:

the first cell is a first secondary cell (SCell); and

the second cell is a second SCell.

16 . The method of claim 1 , wherein:

the applying the one or more first actions comprises initiating channel monitoring on the first cell; and

the applying the one or more second actions comprises initiating channel monitoring on the second cell.

17 . The method of claim 1 , wherein at least one of the one or more first actions or the one or more second actions comprise one or more of:

transmitting a discovery signal;

starting an activation timer; or

starting or restarting a deactivation timer.

18 . A wireless device comprising:

one or more processors; and

memory storing instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the wireless device to:

receive one or more commands to activate:

a first cell operating in a first frequency band; and

a second cell operating in a second frequency band;

apply, for the first cell and no later than a first duration after receiving the one or more commands, one or more first actions associated with activation of the first cell; and

apply, for the second cell and no later than a second duration after receiving the one or more commands, one or more second actions associated with activation of the second cell, wherein the first duration is different from the second duration.

19 . The wireless device of claim 18 , wherein:

the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, further cause the wireless device to receive one or more configuration parameters; and

the one or more configuration parameters comprise a deactivation timer.

20 . The wireless device of claim 18 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the wireless device to:

apply the one or more first actions at least by starting, before the first duration after receiving the one or more commands, transmission of channel state information (CSI) for the first cell; and

apply the one or more second actions at least by starting, before the second duration after the receiving the one or more commands, transmission of CSI for the second cell.

21 . The wireless device of claim 18 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the wireless device to:

apply the one or more first actions at least by starting, before the first duration after receiving the one or more commands and before channel state information (CSI) is available for the first cell, transmission of out of range (OOR) CSI for the first cell; and

apply the one or more second actions at least by starting, before the second duration after receiving the one or more commands, and before CSI is available for the second cell, transmission of OOR CSI for the second cell.

22 . The wireless device of claim 18 , wherein the first duration is shorter than the second duration.

23 . The wireless device of claim 18 , wherein a first activation delay of the first cell is shorter than a second activation delay of the second cell.

24 . The wireless device of claim 18 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the wireless device to apply one or more of the one or more first actions or the one or more second actions at least by monitoring a physical downlink control channel.

25 . The wireless device of claim 18 , wherein at least one of the first duration or the second duration comprises a subframe.

26 . The wireless device of claim 18 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, further cause the wireless device to transmit an indication that the wireless device supports configuration of at least one of:

the first cell; or

the second cell.

27 . The wireless device of claim 18 , wherein:

the first cell is an unlicensed cell and the first frequency band is an unlicensed frequency band; and

the second cell is a licensed cell and the second frequency band is a licensed frequency band.

28 . The wireless device of claim 18 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the wireless device to receive the one or more commands to activate the first cell and the second cell at least by receiving a single command to activate both the first cell and the second cell.

29 . The wireless device of claim 18 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the wireless device to receive the one or more commands to activate the first cell and the second cell at least by:

receiving a first command to activate the first cell; and

receiving a second command to activate the second cell.

30 . The wireless device of claim 18 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the wireless device to apply the one or more second actions after applying the one or more first actions.

31 . The wireless device of claim 18 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the wireless device to:

receive the one or more commands during a transmission time interval (TTI);

apply the one or more first actions at least by applying, before the first duration after the TTI, the one or more first actions; and

apply the one or more second actions at least by applying, before the second duration after the TTI, the one or more second actions.

32 . The wireless device of claim 18 , wherein:

the first cell is a first secondary cell (SCell); and

the second cell is a second SCell.

33 . The wireless device of claim 18 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the wireless device to:

apply the one or more first actions at least by initiating channel monitoring on the first cell; and

apply the one or more second actions at least by initiating channel monitoring on the second cell.

34 . The wireless device of claim 18 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the wireless device to apply one or more of the one or more first actions or the one or more second actions at least by one or more of:

transmitting a discovery signal;

starting an activation timer; or

starting or restarting a deactivation timer.

35 . A system comprising:

a wireless device; and

a base station;

wherein the base station is configured to:

transmit one or more commands to activate:

a first cell operating in a first frequency band; and

a second cell operating in a second frequency band; and

wherein the wireless device is configured to:

apply, for the first cell and no later than a first duration after receiving the one or more commands, one or more first actions associated with activation of the first cell; and

apply, for the second cell and no later than a second duration after receiving the one or more commands, one or more second actions associated with activation of the second cell, wherein the first duration is different from the second duration.

36 . The system of claim 35 , wherein:

the base station is further configured to transmit one or more configuration parameters; and

the one or more configuration parameters comprise a deactivation timer.

37 . The system of claim 35 , wherein the wireless device is configured to:

apply the one or more first actions at least by starting, before the first duration after receiving the one or more commands, transmission of channel state information (CSI) for the first cell; and

apply the one or more second actions at least by starting, before the second duration after receiving the one or more commands, transmission of CSI for the second cell.

38 . The system of claim 35 , wherein the wireless device is configured to:

apply the one or more first actions at least by starting, before the first duration after receiving the one or more commands and before channel state information (CSI) is available for the first cell, transmission of out of range (OOR) CSI for the first cell; and

apply the one or more second actions at least by starting, before the second duration after receiving the one or more commands and before CSI is available for the second cell, transmission of OOR CSI for the second cell.

39 . The system of claim 35 , wherein the first duration is shorter than the second duration.

40 . The system of claim 35 , wherein a first activation delay of the first cell is at least one of:

different from a second activation delay of the second cell; or

shorter than a second activation delay of the second cell.

41 . The system of claim 35 , wherein the wireless device is configured to apply one or more of the one or more first actions or the one or more second actions at least by monitoring a physical downlink control channel

42 . The system of claim 35 , wherein at least one of the first duration or the second duration comprises a subframe.

43 . The system of claim 35 , wherein the wireless device is further configured to transmit an indication that the wireless device supports configuration of at least one of:

the first cell; or

the second cell.

44 . The system of claim 35 , wherein:

the first cell is an unlicensed cell and the first frequency band is an unlicensed frequency band; and

the second cell is a licensed cell and the second frequency band is a licensed frequency band.

45 . The system of claim 35 , wherein the base station is further configured to transmit the one or more commands to activate the first cell and the second cell at least by transmitting a single command to activate both the first cell and the second cell.

46 . The system of claim 35 , wherein the base station is configured to transmit the one or more commands to activate the first cell and the second cell at least by:

transmitting a first command to activate the first cell; and

transmitting a second command to activate the second cell.

47 . The system of claim 35 , wherein the wireless device is configured to apply the one or more second actions after applying the one or more first actions.

48 . The system of claim 35 , wherein the wireless device is configured to:

receive the one or more commands during a transmission time interval (TTI);

apply the one or more first actions at least by applying, before the first duration after the TTI, the one or more first actions; and

apply the one or more second actions at least by applying, before the second duration after the TTI, the one or more second actions.

49 . The system of claim 35 , wherein:

the first cell is a first secondary cell (SCell); and

the second cell is a second SCell.

50 . The system of claim 35 , wherein the wireless device is configured to:

apply the one or more first actions at least by initiating channel monitoring on the first cell; and

apply the one or more second actions at least by initiating channel monitoring on the second cell.

51 . The system of claim 35 , wherein the wireless device is configured to apply one or more of the one or more first actions or the one or more second actions at least by one or more of:

transmitting a discovery signal;

starting an activation timer; or

starting or restarting a deactivation timer.
