Abstract

An adhesive label is provided. The adhesive label includes an adhesive patch that covers at least 50% but less than 85% of a backside surface of the adhesive label and that is at least partially horizontally and vertically centered on the backside surface.

Claims (25)

1. An adhesive label comprising

an adhesive patch covering at least 50% but less than approximately 85% of a backside surface of the adhesive label, wherein the adhesive patch is a single adhesive patch that is at least partially horizontally and vertically centered on the backside surface.

2. The adhesive label of claim 1 , wherein the single adhesive patch comprises one or more areas that are void of adhesive.

3. The adhesive label of claim 1 , wherein the single adhesive pa c situated on the backside surface to avoid printed sense marks on the backside surface.

4. The adhesive label of claim 1 , wherein the single adhesive patch if further situated on the backside surface to avoid or to minimize contact with a printer cutting blade when the adhesive label is dispensed from a printer.

5. The adhesive label of claim 1 , wherein the adhesive label is a linerless label.

6. The adhesive label of claim 1 , wherein the adhesive label is a liner and label combination.

7. The adhesive label of claim 1 , wherein the single adhesive patch comprises a pressure sensitive adhesive.

8. The adhesive label of claim 1 , wherein the single adhesive patch comprises striped or patterned adhesive.

9. An adhesive label, comprising:

a substrate; and

a single adhesive patch deposited on a backside of the substrate and covering an area of the backside that is greater than 50% but less than approximately 85%.

10. The adhesive label of claim 9 , wherein an adhesive within the single adhesive patch is less than 50% but the area covered by the single adhesive patch is greater than 50%.

11. The adhesive label of claim 10 , wherein the single adhesive patch comprises one or more void areas that are devoid of the adhesive.

12. The adhesive label of claim 11 , wherein the single adhesive patch comprises more than 1 of the void areas.

13. The adhesive label of claim 11 , wherein the single adhesive patch comprises 1 void area.

14. The adhesive label of claim 9 further comprising, a thermal top coating deposited on a front side of the substrate that darkens when exposed to heat from a thermal printer to selectively image the front side of the substrate.

15. The adhesive label of claim 9 , wherein the single adhesive patch comprises a pressure sensitive, or pressure activated adhesive.

16. The adhesive label of claim 9 , wherein single adhesive patch comprises an adhesive surrounding a void area that is devoid of the adhesive with the adhesive further placed in a portion of the void area located at a center of the void area.

17. An adhesive label, comprising:

a substrate comprising a thermal coating on a front side of the substrate that is activated by heat applied by a thermal printer to selectively image the front side of the substrate; and

a single adhesive patch deposited on a backside of the substrate and covering an area of the backside that is greater than 50% but less than approximately 85%, wherein the single adhesive patch comprises at least one portion of or a void area within the single adhesive patch that is devoid of any adhesive.

18. The adhesive label of claim 17 , wherein the single adhesive patch comprises a pressure sensitive adhesive except for the at least one portion of or the void area within the single adhesive patch.

19. The adhesive label of claim 17 , wherein the single adhesive patch is situated on the backside of the substrate to avoid printed sense marks that are printed on the backside of the substrate.

20. The adhesive label of claim 17 , wherein the adhesive label is a liner less label or a liner and label combination.
