Abstract

Disclosed herein is a reception apparatus including: a reception block configured to receive broadcast content broadcast via a broadcasting network; an acquisition block configured to acquire inserted content that is inserted in the broadcast content during the reception thereof; an output block configured to output at least one of the broadcast content and the inserted content; a switch block configured to switch between the broadcast content and the inserted content outputted from the output block; and a buffer configured to sequentially store data of the received broadcast content when the broadcast content is switched to the inserted content; wherein, if the inserted content is switched to the broadcast content, the output block outputs the broadcast content from the buffer while the inserted content is outputted.

Claims (70)

1. An apparatus comprising:

a display; and

circuitry configured to

receive a first content from a television broadcast signal through a terrestrial digital broadcasting network;

obtain an application program in response to a register command included in first trigger information within the television broadcast signal;

acquire a second content;

output the first content, wherein the first content includes a first video signal, which is displayed on the display; and

switch output from the first content to the second content or switch back output from the second content to the first content based on second trigger information within the television broadcast signal, the second trigger information being associated with a trigger, wherein the second content includes a second video signal, which is displayed on the display in response to switching to the second content;

wherein the trigger is one of a plurality of triggers together prompting the switch of output from the first content to the second content, and

wherein the second trigger information includes a type of a command corresponding to at least one of a startup command, an event fire command, a suspend command, and a terminate command for the application program.

2. The apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the circuitry is further configured to extract the second trigger information associated with control of the application program to be executed in cooperative association with the first content, and

wherein the circuitry is configured to acquire the second content on the basis of the second trigger information.

3. The apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the circuitry is configured to:

acquire a communication content included in the second content, from a communication interface; and

reproduce the communication content in a streaming manner.

4. The apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the circuitry is configured to:

acquire a communication content included in the second content, from a communication interface; and

reproduce the communication content in a download manner.

5. The apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the circuitry is configured to acquire the second content from an NRT (Non Real Time) broadcasting.

6. The apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein circuitry is further configured to:

extract the second trigger information relating to control over the application program to be executed in response to the first content, the second trigger information being received together with the first content,

acquire the second content based on the second trigger information; and

switch between the first content and the second content in a pass-through mode, wherein the first content being received at that point in time is output, in a case where the second content is switched back to the first content.

7. The apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the circuitry is further configured to:

extract the second trigger information relating to control over the application program to be executed in response to the first content, the second trigger information being transmitted together with the first content;

acquire the second content based on the second trigger information; and

switch between the first content and the second content in at least one of two modes including a pass-through mode and a retention mode,

wherein in the pass-through mode, the first content being received at that point in time is output, in a case where the second content is switched back to the first content, and

wherein in the retention mode, a broadcast content previously stored in a buffer is output, in a case where the second content is switched back to the first content.

8. The apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the apparatus is a television receiver including a loudspeaker.

9. The apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the apparatus is an end-user apparatus that performs display of the first video signal and thereafter display of the second video signal in response to the switch output from the first content to the second content by the end-user apparatus.

10. The apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the application program is obtained via an URL included in the first trigger information.

11. The apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the circuitry is further configured to display on the display, information indicative that a display of the application program is prepared.

12. The apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the circuitry is further configured to display the second video signal superimposed on the first video signal.

13. A method implemented by an apparatus comprising:

receiving a first content from a television broadcast signal through a terrestrial digital broadcasting network;

acquiring a second content;

obtaining an application program in response to a register command included in first trigger information within the television broadcast signal;

outputting the first content, the outputting including outputting of a first video signal on

a display; and

switching output from the first content to the second content or switching back output from the second content to the first content based on second trigger information within the television broadcast signal, the second trigger information being associated with a trigger, the switching including switching to output of a second video signal on the display in response to switching to the second content;

wherein the trigger is one of a plurality of triggers together prompting the switch of output from the first content to the second content, and

wherein the second trigger information includes a type of a command corresponding to at least one of a startup command, an event fire command, a suspend command, and a terminate command for the application program.

14. The method according to claim 13 , further comprising:

extracting the second trigger information associated with control of the application program to be executed in cooperative association with the first content; and

acquiring the second content on the basis of the second trigger information.

15. The method according to claim 13 , wherein the second content includes communication content acquired from a communication interface,

and wherein the method further comprises reproducing the second content in a streaming manner.

16. The method according to claim 13 ,

wherein the second content includes communication content acquired from a communication interface, and

wherein the method further comprises reproducing the second content in a download manner.

17. The method according to claim 13 , further comprising acquiring the second content from a broadcasting network in NRT (Non Real Time) broadcasting.

18. The method according to claim 13 , further comprising:

extracting the second trigger information relating to control over the application program to be executed in response to the first content, the second trigger information being received together with the first content;

acquiring the second content based on the second trigger information; and

switching between the first content and the second content in a pass-through mode, wherein the first content being received at that point in time is output in a case where the second content is switched back to the first content.

19. The method according to claim 13 , further comprising:

extracting the second trigger information relating to control over the application program to be executed in response to the first content, the second trigger information being transmitted together with the first content;

acquiring the second content based on the second trigger information; and

switching between the first content and the second content in two modes including a pass-through mode and a retention mode,

wherein in the pass-through mode, the first content being received at that point in time is output, in a case where the second content is switched back to the first content,

wherein in the retention mode, a broadcast content previously stored in a buffer is output, in a case where the second content is switched back to the first content.

20. A non-transitory computer readable medium storing a computer program that when executed by a computer of a reception apparatus causes the computer to execute a method comprising:

receiving a first content from a television broadcast signal through a terrestrial digital broadcasting network;

obtaining an application program in response to a register command included in first trigger information within the television broadcast signal;

acquiring a second content;

outputting the first content, the outputting including outputting of a first video signal on a display; and

switching output from the first content to the second content or switching back output from the second content to the first content based on second trigger information within the television broadcast signal, the second trigger information being associated with a trigger, the switching including switching to output of a second video signal on the display in response to switching to the second content;

wherein the trigger is one of a plurality of triggers together prompting the switch of output from the first content to the second content, and

wherein the second trigger information includes a type of a command corresponding to at least one of a startup command, an event fire command, a suspend command, and a terminate command for an application program.
