Abstract

A system and method for monitoring body chemistry of a user, the system comprising: a housing supporting: a microsensor comprising a first and second working electrode, a reference electrode, and a counter electrode, and configured to access interstitial fluid of the user, and an electronics subsystem comprising a signal conditioning module that receives a signal stream, from the microsensor, wherein the electronics subsystem is configured to detect an impedance signal derived from two of the first working electrode, the second working electrode, the reference electrode, and the counter electrode; and a processing subsystem comprising: a first module configured to generate an analysis indicative of an analyte parameter of the user and derived from the signal stream and the impedance signal, and a second module configured to transmit information derived from the analysis to the user, thereby facilitating monitoring of body chemistry of the user.

Claims (16)

1 . A health-monitor patch system, comprising:

a first disposable patch including:

a first microsensor having a plurality of first microneedles configured to access interstitial fluid of a user, detect at least one first analyte in the interstitial fluid, and generate one or more first signals based on detection of the at least one first analyte;

a second disposable patch including:

a second microsensor having a plurality of second microneedles configured to access the interstitial fluid of the user, detect at least one second analyte in the interstitial fluid, and generate one or more second signals based on detection of the at least one second analyte; and

a reusable housing unit sequentially coupleable to the first and second disposable patches, the reusable housing unit including an electronics subsystem configured to be in communication with the first or second microsensors, wherein the electronics subsystem is configured to:

perform signal conditioning and generate a first analysis of the one or more first signals to identify first health-related conditions or events based on the one or more first signals, when the reusable housing unit is coupled to the first disposable patch, and

perform signal conditioning and generate a second analysis of the one or more second signals to identify second health-related conditions or events, when the reusable housing unit is coupled to the second disposable patch.

2 . The health-monitor patch system of claim 1 wherein the electronics subsystem is configured to wirelessly communicate with a mobile computing device.

3 . The health-monitor patch system of claim 2 wherein the electronics subsystem is configured to send a notification of at least one of the first health-related conditions or events or the second health-related conditions or events to the mobile computing device.

4 . The health-monitor patch system of claim 2 wherein the electronics subsystem is configured to transmit information related to one or more of the first or second analyses for display by the mobile computing device.

5 . The health-monitor patch system of claim 4 wherein the electronics subsystem is configured to encrypt the information before transmitting the information to the mobile computing device.

The health-monitor patch system of claim 1 wherein the electronics subsystem includes memory that stores collected data from at least one of the first or second microsensors, and wherein the electronics subsystem automatically transmits at least a portion of the collected data to an account linked to the user.

7 . The health-monitor patch system of claim 1 wherein the electronics subsystem is configured to communicate with a remote server.

8 . The health-monitor patch system of claim 1 wherein the first and second disposable patches are configured to be operable for at least a week after coupling to the user's skin.

9 . The health-monitor patch system of claim 1 wherein the reusable housing unit is configured to be used with multiple disposable patches.
