Abstract

Computing systems and methods for facilitating mobile transactions are disclosed. An example method includes: detecting, via a hardware communication interface, a user check-in request based at least on a communication exchange between a user device and a signaling device at a location. The communication exchange corresponds to a proximity of the user device to the signaling device. The method further includes: determining a user identifier associated with the user device based at least on the user check-in request; and transmitting one or more promotional items to the user device based at least on the user identifier.

Claims (37)

1. A system, comprising:

a non-transitory memory; and

one or more hardware processors coupled to the non-transitory memory and configured to read instructions from the non-transitory memory to cause the system to perform operations comprising:

broadcasting, by a wireless communication device communicatively coupled to the system over a proximity range, wireless signals for a wireless pairing with the system, wherein the wireless signals comprise a universally unique identifier (UUID) from a service provider for the system;

receiving, from a mobile communication device, a handshake request with the wireless communication device, wherein the handshake request requests the wireless pairing with the mobile communication device based on the UUID;

initiating, upon a completion of a handshake process corresponding to the handshake request, a check-in of a user account associated with the mobile communication device with the system, wherein the check-in is initiated with the service provider;

receiving a request for a transaction from the checked-in mobile communication device; and

processing the transaction with the service provider based on the request.

2. The system of claim 1 , wherein the handshake process includes verifying that the mobile communication device and the system are both registered for the service provider.

3. The system of claim 2 , wherein the handshake process includes, upon verifying that the mobile communication device and the system are both registered for the service provider, exchanging user account information and system information between the mobile communication device and the system.

4. The system of claim 1 , wherein the system is a merchant system and the request is a request to pay for a product or service.

5. The system of claim 3 , wherein the user account information and the system information are exchanged between the mobile communication device and the merchant system by utilizing a combination of public encryption keys, private encryption keys and payment tokens.

6. The system of claim 1 , wherein the handshake request is received from the mobile communication device in response to the mobile communication device detecting the UUID being broadcasted by the wireless communication device.

7. The system of claim 1 , wherein the request for the transaction from the checked-in mobile communication device is received at a merchant terminal different from the wireless communication device.

8. The system of claim 7 , wherein the merchant terminal is a point-of-sale terminal.

9. The system of claim 7 , wherein processing the transaction with the service provider based on the request comprises determining the user account from a plurality of user accounts checked-in with the system and processing the transaction with the user account upon determining that the mobile communications device associated with the user account is within a threshold proximity from the merchant terminal.

10. A method comprising:

transmitting, by a wireless communication device over a proximity range, wireless signals for a wireless pairing with the wireless communication device, wherein the wireless signals comprise a universally unique identifier (UUID) from a service provider;

receiving, from a mobile communication device, a handshake request associated with the broadcasted UUID, wherein the handshake request requests the wireless pairing with the mobile communication device based on the UUID;

initiating, upon a completion of a handshake process corresponding the handshake request, a check-in of a user account associated with the mobile communication device, wherein the check-in is initiated with the service provider;

receiving a request for a transaction from the checked-in mobile communication device; and

processing the transaction with the service provider based on the request.

11. The method of claim 10 , wherein the handshake process includes verifying that the mobile communication device is registered with the service provider.

12. The method of claim 11 , wherein the request is a request to pay for a product or service at a merchant system.

13. The method of claim 12 , further comprising utilizing a combination of public encryption keys, private encryption keys and payment tokens to exchange user account information and merchant information between the mobile communication device and the merchant system.

14. The method of claim 10 , wherein the handshake request is received from the mobile communication device in response to the mobile communication device detecting the UUID being transmitted by the wireless communication device.

The method of claim 10 , wherein the request for the transaction from the checked-in mobile communication device is received at a merchant terminal communicatively coupled to the wireless communication device, the merchant terminal and the wireless communication device being separate from each other.

16. A non-transitory machine-readable medium having stored thereon machine-readable instructions executable to cause a machine to perform operations comprising:

transmitting, using a wireless communication device over a proximity range, wireless signals for a wireless pairing with the wireless communication device, wherein the wireless signals comprise a universally unique identifier (UUID) from a service provider;

receiving, from a mobile communication device, a handshake request associated with the broadcasted UUID, wherein the handshake request requests the wireless pairing with the mobile communication device based on the UUID;

initiating, upon a completion of a handshake process corresponding to the handshake request, a check-in of a user account associated with the mobile communication device, wherein the check-in is initiated with the service provider;

receiving a request for a transaction from the checked-in mobile communication device; and

processing the transaction with the service provider based on the request.

17. The non-transitory machine-readable medium of claim 16 , wherein the handshake process includes verifying that the mobile communication device is registered with the service provider.

18. The non-transitory machine-readable medium of claim 17 , wherein the request is a request to pay for a product or service at a merchant system.

19. The non-transitory machine-readable medium of claim 16 , wherein the handshake request is received from the mobile communication device in response to the mobile communication device detecting the UUID being transmitted by the wireless communication device.

20. The non-transitory machine-readable medium of claim 16 , wherein the request for the transaction from the checked-in mobile communication device is received at a merchant terminal communicatively coupled to the wireless communication device, the merchant terminal and the wireless communication device being separate from each other.
