Abstract

A point of aim shows where a weapon is aimed on a target. An electronic device determines an impact location on the target of a projectile fired from the weapon, determines a distance from the point of aim to the impact location, and moves the point of aim in order to sight the weapon to the target.

Claims (46)

1. A method comprising:

displaying, on a display of wearable electronic glasses (WEG) worn on a head of a user with a rifle, a point of aim (POA) of the rifle that moves in real-time with movements of the rifle to show where the rifle is aimed; and

simultaneously displaying, on the display of the WEG, the POA along with a desired target impact location (DTIL) on a target that moves in real-time with movements of the target so the DTIL being displayed remains on the target as the target moves, wherein the DTIL shows a desired location where to hit the target with a bullet fired from the rifle.

2. The method of claim 1 further comprising:

displaying, with the display of the WEG, a visual alarm when the POA of the rifle moves onto the DTIL on the target.

3. The method of claim 1 further comprising:

sounding, through speakers in the WEG, an audible alarm when the POA of the rifle moves onto the DTIL on the target.

4. The method of claim 1 further comprising:

displaying, with the display of the WEG, an impact location of where the bullet fired from the rifle hit the target.

5. The method of claim 1 further comprising:

displaying, with the display of the WEG, a visual indication informing the user that the WEG automatically moved a location on the display where the POA appeared in order to compensate for one or more shooting conditions.

6. The method of claim 1 further comprising:

determining a crosswind with respect to a line of sight of the rifle, wherein a location on the display of the WEG where the POA appears automatically moves to compensate for the crosswind.

7. The method of claim 1 further comprising:

automatically moving, by the WEG, a location on the display of the WEG where the POA appears in response to determining a location where the bullet fired from the rifle missed the DTIL.

8. The method of claim 1 further comprising:

automatically deactivating a weapon targeting system (WTS) of the WEG when the rifle aims to a location on ground; and

automatically activating the WTS of the WEG when the rifle aims to a location away from the ground.

9. A method comprising:

displaying, on a display of a wearable electronic device (WED) worn on a head of a user with a rifle, a point of aim (POA) of the rifle that moves in real-time with movements of the rifle;

simultaneously displaying, on the display of the WED, the POA along with a desired target impact location (DTIL) on a target that shows a desired location where to hit the target with a bullet fired from the rifle; and

moving, on the display of the WED, the DTIL in real-time with movements of the target to maintain the DTIL on the target as the target moves.

10. The method of claim 9 further comprising:

displaying, with the display of the WED, a visual alarm when the POA of the rifle moves onto the DTIL on the target.

11. The method of claim 9 further comprising:

automatically moving a location on the display of the WED where the POA appears to compensate for a change in distance from the rifle to the target.

12. The method of claim 9 further comprising:

automatically moving a location on the display of the WED where the POA appears to compensate for a crosswind where the rifle is located.

13. The method of claim 9 further comprising:

automatically moving a location on the display of the WED where the POA appears in response to the bullet fired from the rifle missing the DTIL.

14. The method of claim 9 further comprising:

automatically moving a location on the display of the WED where the POA appears to compensate for a speed at which the target is moving.

15. The method of claim 9 further comprising:

providing, through speakers in the WED, sound that notifies the user in response to the POA of the rifle moving onto the DTIL on the target.

16. The method of claim 9 further comprising:

automatically deactivating a weapon targeting system (WTS) of the WED when the rifle aims to a location on ground; and

automatically activating the WTS of the WED when the rifle aims to a location away from the ground.

17. Wearable electronic device (WED) worn on a head of a user with a rifle having an electronic scope, the WED comprising:

a wireless receiver that communicates with the electronic scope that displays a point of aim (POA) of the rifle; and

a display that simultaneously displays the POA that moves in real-time with movements of the rifle and a desired target impact location (DTIL) on a target that moves in real-time with movements of the target so the DTIL remains displayed on the target as the target moves.

18. The WED of claim 17 further comprising:

one or more sensors that sense an orientation of the rifle, wherein the WED executes code to activate and to deactivate a weapon targeting system (WTS) based on whether the orientation of the rifle is pointed to ground.

19. The WED of claim 17 further comprising:

a processor that executes code to sight the rifle to the target by automatically moving a location on the display where the POA is displayed on the display to compensate for a wind speed where the rifle is located and for a change in a distance from the rifle to the target.

20. The WED of claim 17 further comprising:

an interface that receives a voice command from the user that causes the WED to activate a weapon targeting system (WTS) displayed on the display and a voice command from the user that causes the WED to deactivate the WTS displayed on the display.
