Abstract

Systems and methods for preloading an amount of content based on user scrolling are disclosed. A body of content may be presented that takes up a certain amount of display space within a graphical user interface. Scroll information characterizing user scrolling within the graphical user interface may be obtained. A portion of the body of content outside a field of view of the graphical user interface may be determined based on the scroll information.

Claims (31)

1. A system configured to preload an amount of content based on user scrolling, the system comprising:

one or more physical processors configured by machine-readable instructions to:

progressively increase an amount of preloaded content which is able to be scrolled into a visible portion of a display space within a graphical user interface in proportion to an amount of a body of content a user has viewed while scrolling, wherein the body of content takes up an amount of the display space within the graphical user interface, the visible portion is scrollable around the display space to view the body of content, and one or more nonvisible portions of the display space outside the visible portion include the preloaded content and are able to be scrolled into the visible portion.

2. The system of claim 1 , wherein the one or more physical processors are further configured by the machine-readable instructions to obtain scroll information including scroll input from the user initiating the scrolling of the graphical user interface.

The system of claim 2 , wherein the scroll information indicates historical scroll information for the user, the historical scroll information including one or more of an average scroll speed, an average scroll amount, a median scroll amount, an average scroll distance, a median scroll distance, a height and/or amount of content already viewed by the user, a distance of scrolls in relation to maximum page size, a quantity of scrolls in relation to maximum page size, or a length of time since previous scrolling.

4. The system of claim 2 , wherein the scroll information indicates a type of content the user is scrolling.

5. The system of claim 1 , wherein the body of content includes collaboration environment content defined by work unit records.

6. The system of claim 5 , wherein the graphical user interface displays one or more visual content items corresponding to one or more of the work unit records.

7. The system of claim 1 , wherein the one or more physical processors are further configured by the machine-readable instructions to:

responsive to the scrolling from a first field of view to a second field of vie preload a first amount of the preloaded content in proportion to the amount of the body of content viewed within the first field of view and the second field of view.

8. The system of claim 7 , wherein the one or more physical processors are further configured by the machine-readable instructions to:

responsive to subsequent scrolling from the second field of view to a third field of view, preload a second amount of the preloaded content which is greater than the first amount.

9. The system of claim 1 , wherein the one or more physical processors are further configured by the machine-readable instructions to:

determine that the user is continuously scrolling; and

determine the amount of the body of content the user has viewed while continuously scrolling.

10. The system of claim 9 , wherein a determination that the user is continuously scrolling is responsive to the scrolling reaching and/or surpassing a first threshold amount of scrolling and/or a first threshold level within the graphical user interface.

11. A method to preload an amount of content based on user scrolling, the method comprising:

progressively increasing an amount of preloaded content which is able to be scrolled into a visible portion of a display space within a graphical user interface in proportion to an amount of a body of content a user has viewed while scrolling, wherein the body of content takes up an amount of the display space within the graphical user interface, the visible portion is scrollable around the display space to view the body of content, and one or more nonvisible portions of the display space outside the visible portion include the preloaded content and are able to be scrolled into the visible portion.

12. The method of claim 11 , further comprising obtaining scrod information including scroll input from the user initiating the scrolling of the graphical user interface.

The method of claim 12 , wherein the scroll information indicates historical scroll information for the user, the historical scroll information including one or more of an average scroll speed, an average scroll amount, a median scroll amount, an average scroll distance, a median scroll distance, a height and/or amount of content already viewed by the user, a distance of scrolls in relation to maximum page size, a quantity of scrolls in relation to maximum page size, or a length of time since previous scrolling.

14. The method of claim 12 , wherein the scroll information indicates a type of content the user is scrolling.

15. The method of claim 11 , wherein the body of content includes collaboration environment content defined by work unit records.

16. The method of claim 15 , wherein the graphical user interface displays one or more visual content items corresponding to one or more of the work unit records.

17. The method of claim 11 , further comprising:

responsive to the scrolling from a first field of view to a second field of view, preloading a first amount of the preloaded content in proportion to the amount of the body of content viewed within the first field of view and the second field of view.

18. The method of claim 17 , further comprising:

responsive to subsequent scrolling from the second field of view to a third field of view, preloading a second amount of the preloaded content which is greater than the first amount.

19. The method of claim 11 , further comprising:

determining that the user is continuously scrolling; and

determining the amount of the body of content the user has viewed while continuously scrolling.

20. The method of claim 19 , wherein the determining that the user is continuously scrolling is responsive to the scrolling reaching and/or surpassing a first threshold amount of scrolling and/or a first threshold level within the graphical user interface.
