Abstract

Systems and methods for building management utilizing adaptive edge processing are disclosed. The building system can store gateway components on storage devices. The gateway components can facilitate communication with a cloud platform and facilitate communication with a physical building device. The building system can identify a computing system of the building that is in communication with the physical building device. The physical building device can store one or more data samples. The building system can deploy the gateway components to the computing system responsive to identifying that the computing system is in communication with the physical building device. The gateway components can cause the computing system to communicate with the physical building device to receive the one or more data samples and cause the computing system to communicate the one or more data samples to the cloud platform.

Claims (46)

1. A building device of a building including one or more storage devices storing instructions thereon that, when executed by one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to:

receive one or more gateway components and implement the one or more gateway components on the building device, at least one of the one or more gateway components configured to facilitate communication between a cloud platform and the building device;

identify a physical device connected to the building device based on the one or more gateway components;

search a library of configurations for a plurality of different physical devices stored by a second instance of the one or more gateway components implemented on a second building device of the building, the second building device connected to a second physical device of a same type as the physical device, the search based on an identity of the physical device and identifying a configuration for collecting data samples from the physical device connected to the building device;

receive the configuration from the second building device;

implement the configuration for the one or more gateway components; and

collect one or more data samples from the physical device based on the one or more gateway components and the configuration.

2. The building device of claim 1 , wherein the instructions further cause the one or more processors to:

receive an integration component for a communication protocol corresponding to the physical device; and

communicate with the physical device via the communication protocol.

3. The building device of claim 1 , wherein the instructions further cause the one or more processors to receive an adapter service, the adapter service configured to facilitate communication with one or more computing devices.

4. The building device of claim 3 , wherein the adapter service is configured to facilitate communication with a network engine and receive the one or more data samples via the network engine.

5. The building device of claim 3 , wherein the adapter service is configured to facilitate communication with a building management system (BMS) server and provide the one or more data samples to the BMS server.

6. The building device of claim 1 , wherein the instructions further cause the one or more processors to:

detect a new physical device connected to the building device;

search the library for a configuration of the new physical device; and

perform at least one of:

implementing the configuration to facilitate communication with the new physical device responsive to identifying the configuration for the new physical device in the library; or

perform a discovery process to discover the configuration for the new physical device and store the configuration in the library.

7. The building device of claim 1 , wherein the library is stored in at least one of the cloud platform or on the one or more gateway components.

8. The building device of claim 1 , wherein the library is distributed across a plurality of instances of the one or more gateway components in a plurality of different buildings.

9. The building device of claim 1 , wherein the instructions further cause the one or more processors to execute a building service configured to generate data based on the one or more data samples.

10. The building device of claim 9 , wherein the instructions further cause the one or more processors to receive the building service from the cloud platform.

11. A method implemented by a building device of a building including one or more storage devices, the method comprising:

receiving, by one or more processors of the building device, one or more gateway components and implementing the one or more gateway components on the building device, the one or more gateway components configured to facilitate communication between a cloud platform and the building device;

identifying, by the one or more processors, a physical device connected to the building device based on the one or more gateway components;

searching, by the one or more processors, a library of configurations for a plurality of different physical devices stored by a second instance of the one or more gateway components implemented on a second building device of the building, the second building device connected to a second physical device of a same type as the physical device, the search based on an identity of the physical device and identifying a configuration for collecting data samples from the physical device connected to the building device;

receiving, by the one or more processors, the configuration from the second building device;

implementing, by the one or more processors, the configuration for the one or more gateway components; and

collecting, by the one or more processors, one or more data samples from the physical device based on the one or more gateway components and the configuration.

12. The method of claim 11 , further comprising:

receiving, by the one or more processors, an integration component for a communication protocol corresponding to the physical device; and

communicating, by the one or more processors, with the physical device via the communication protocol.

13. The method of claim 11 , further comprising receiving, by the one or more processors, an adapter service, the adapter service configured to facilitate communication with one or more computing devices.

14. The method of claim 13 , wherein the adapter service is configured to facilitate communication with a network engine and receive the one or more data samples via the network engine.

15. The method of claim 13 , wherein the adapter service is configured to facilitate communication with a building management system (BMS) server and provide the one or more data samples to the BMS server.

16. The method of claim 11 , further comprising:

detecting, by the one or more processors, a new physical device connected to the building device;

searching, by the one or more processors, the library for a configuration of the new physical device; and

performing, by the one or more processors, at least one of:

implementing the configuration to facilitate communication with the new physical device responsive to identifying the configuration for the new physical device in the library; or

perform a discovery process to discover the configuration for the new physical device and store the configuration in the library.

17. The method of claim 11 , wherein the library is stored in at least one of the cloud platform or on the one or more gateway components.

18. The method of claim 11 , wherein the library is distributed across a plurality of instances of the one or more gateway components in a plurality of different buildings.

19. The method of claim 11 , further comprising executing, by the one or more processors, a building service configured to generate data based on the one or more data samples.

20. The method of claim 19 , further comprising receiving, by the one or more processors, the building service from the cloud platform.
