Abstract

Apparatus and methods are provided for efficient bandwidth adaptation for wideband carrier. In one novel aspect, the UE starts a BWP timer upon detecting one or more BWP timer starting triggering events, resets the BWP timer upon detecting BWP resetting triggering events, and switches to the default BWP upon expiration of the BWP timer. The BWP timer starting triggering events comprises decoding a command to switch away from the default BWP, the detection of end of DL data transmission in DRX mode. In another novel aspect, the UE only decodes the DCI indication for active BWP switching in the first three OFDM symbols of a subframe or a slot. In yet another novel aspect, when the SPS is configured for the serving cell for a UE with multiple BWPs, the SPS is configured for all the BWPs accordingly.

Claims (19)

1. A method, comprising:

receiving a high layer signaling by a user equipment (UE) from a base station, wherein the higher-layer signaling includes a plurality of bandwidth part (BWP) configurations;

applying the plurality of BWP configurations for wireless communication with the base station, wherein a BWP includes a plurality of contiguous physical resource blocks (PRBs);

monitoring a set of physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) candidates by the UE in one or more control resource set (CORESET) in an active downlink (DL) BWP;

applying a first indication of active BWP switching if the first indication of active BWP switching is obtained in a decoded PDCCH in a first CORESET within first three OFDM symbols of a slot; and

ignoring a second indication of active BWP switching if the second indication of active BWP switching is obtained in the decoded PDCCH in a second CORESET partially or fully outside the first three OFDM symbols of the slot.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the active BWP switching involves an active DL BWP switching.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the active BWP switching involves an active uplink (UL) BWP switching.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the BWP switching involves switching from a default BWP to an active BWP.

5. The method of claim 4 , wherein the default BWP is configured by a higher-layer signal.

6. A user equipment (UE), comprising:

a frequency (RF) transceiver that transmits and receives radio signals in a wireless network;

a memory; and

a processor coupled to the memory, the processor configured to:

receive a high layer signaling from a base station, wherein the higher-layer signaling includes a plurality of bandwidth part (BWP) configurations; apply the plurality of BWP configurations for wireless communication with the base station, wherein a BWP includes a plurality of contiguous physical resource blocks (PRBs); monitor a set of physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) candidates in one or more control resource set (CORESET) in an active downlink (DL) BWP; apply a first indication of active BWP switching if the first indication of active BWP switching is obtained in a decoded PDCCH in a first CORESET within first three OFDM symbols of a slot; and ignore a second indication of active BWP switching if the second indication of active BWP switching is obtained in the decoded PDCCH in a second CORESET partially or fully outside the first three OFDM symbols of the slot.

7. The UE of claim 6 , wherein the active BWP switching involves an active DL BWP switching.

8. The UE of claim 6 , wherein the active BWP switching involves an active uplink (UL) BWP switching.

9. The UE of claim 6 , wherein the BWP switching involves switching from a default BWP to an active BWP.

10. The UE of claim 9 , wherein the default BWP is configured by a higher-layer signal.
