Abstract

Procedures for using a transmission configuration indication (TCI) state in wireless communications are described. A base station may send one or more configuration parameters indicating a plurality of cells to be updated with a same TCI state. A wireless device may perform, via the plurality of cells and using one or more parameters associated with the TCI state, at least one of transmission or reception.

Claims (147)

1. A method comprising:

receiving, by a wireless device, one or more configuration parameters indicating a plurality of cells to be updated with a same transmission configuration indication (TCI) state;

receiving a control command indicating:

a cell index for a first cell of the plurality of cells; and

a TCI state for the first cell; and

performing, via each cell of the plurality of cells and using one or more parameters associated with the TCI state, at least one of reception or transmission.

2. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

determining, based on the one or more configuration parameters, a cell group parameter indicating one or more cell indexes of the plurality of cells; and

applying, based on the cell group parameter, the TCI state to one or more channels of each cell of the plurality of cells.

3. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

sending, based on the TCI state and via one or more uplink control channels of each cell of the plurality of cells, uplink control information; and

receiving, based on the TCI state and via one or more downlink control channels of each cell of the plurality of cells, downlink control information.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein each cell of the plurality of cells is quasi-co-located using a same serving beam for physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) reception; and

wherein the performing the reception comprises applying the TCI state to one or more downlink control channels of each cell of the plurality of cells.

5. The method of claim 1 , wherein each cell of the plurality of cells is quasi-co-located using a same serving beam for physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) transmission; and

wherein the performing the transmission comprises applying the TCI state to one or more uplink control channels of each cell of the plurality of cells.

6. The method of claim 1 , wherein the TCI state indicated by the control command is associated with a cell group parameter indicating one or more cell indexes of the plurality of cells, and wherein the one or more cell indexes comprises the cell index for the first cell.

7. The method of claim 1 , wherein the TCI state indicated by the control command is associated with a reference signal, and

wherein demodulation reference signal (DM-RS) antenna ports, of one or more channels associated with control resource sets (CORESETs) of each cell of the plurality of cells, are quasi-co-located with the reference signal.

8. The method of claim 1 , wherein the one or more configuration parameters comprise one or more beam failure recovery (BFR) configuration parameters; and

wherein the method further comprises:

sending an uplink signal for a BFR procedure;

receiving, via one or more downlink control channels, an indication of a completion of the BFR procedure; and

based on the one or more BFR configuration parameters and the indication of the completion of the BFR procedure, stopping monitoring of downlink control channels of each cell, of the plurality of cells, other than the first cell.

9. The method of claim 1 , wherein the control command is a medium access control (MAC) control element (CE) activation command.

10. The method of claim 1 , further comprising applying the TCI state to one or more channels of each cell of the plurality of cells based on:

the control command indicating the TCI state for the first cell; and

the plurality of cells comprising the first cell.

11. A method comprising:

sending, by a base station, one or more configuration parameters indicating a plurality of cells to be updated with a same transmission configuration indication (TCI) state;

sending a control command indicating:

a cell index for a first cell of the plurality of cells; and

a TCI state for the first cell; and

performing, via each cell of the plurality of cells and using one or more parameters associated with the TCI state, at least one of transmission or reception.

12. The method of claim 11 , further comprising:

configuring, for the one or more configuration parameters, a cell group parameter indicating one or more cell indexes of the plurality of cells; and

applying, based on the cell group parameter, the TCI state to one or more channels of each cell of the plurality of cells.

13. The method of claim 11 , further comprising:

receiving, based on the TCI state and via one or more uplink control channels of each cell of the plurality of cells, uplink control information; and

sending, based on the TCI state and via one or more downlink control channels of each cell of the plurality of cells, downlink control information.

14. The method of claim 11 , wherein each cell of the plurality of cells is quasi-co-located using a same serving beam for physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) transmission; and

wherein the performing the transmission comprises applying the TCI state to one or more downlink control channels of each cell of the plurality of cells.

15. The method of claim 11 , wherein each cell of the plurality of cells is quasi-co-located using a same serving beam for physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) reception; and

wherein the performing the reception comprises applying the TCI state to one or more uplink control channels of each cell of the plurality of cells.

16. The method of claim 11 , wherein the TCI state indicated by the control command is associated with a cell group parameter indicating one or more cell indexes of the plurality of cells, and wherein the one or more cell indexes comprises the cell index for the first cell.

17. The method of claim 11 , wherein the TCI state indicated by the control command is associated with a reference signal, and

wherein demodulation reference signal (DM-RS) antenna ports, of one or more channels associated with control resource sets (CORESETs) of each cell of the plurality of cells, are quasi-co-located with the reference signal.

18. The method of claim 11 , wherein the one or more configuration parameters comprise one or more beam failure recovery (BFR) configuration parameters; and

wherein the method further comprises:

receiving an uplink signal for a BFR procedure; and

sending, via one or more downlink control channels, an indication of a completion of the BFR procedure.

19. The method of claim 11 , wherein the control command is a medium access control (MAC) control element (CE) activation command.

20. The method of claim 11 , further comprising applying the TCI state to one or more channels of each cell of the plurality of cells based on:

the control command indicating the TCI state for the first cell; and

the plurality of cells comprising the first cell.

21. A wireless device comprising:

one or more processors; and

memory storing instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the wireless device to:

receive one or more configuration parameters indicating a plurality of cells to be updated with a same transmission configuration indication (TCI) state;

receive a control command indicating:

a cell index for a first cell of the plurality of cells; and

a TCI state for the first cell; and

perform, via each cell of the plurality of cells and using one or more parameters associated with the TCI state, at least one of reception or transmission.

22. The wireless device of claim 21 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the wireless device to:

determine, based on the one or more configuration parameters, a cell group parameter indicating one or more cell indexes of the plurality of cells; and

apply, based on the cell group parameter, the TCI state to one or more channels of each cell of the plurality of cells.

23. The wireless device of claim 21 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the wireless device to:

send, based on the TCI state and via one or more uplink control channels of each cell of the plurality of cells, uplink control information; and

receive, based on the TCI state and via one or more downlink control channels of each cell of the plurality of cells, downlink control information.

24. The wireless device of claim 21 , wherein each cell of the plurality of cells is quasi-co-located using a same serving beam for physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) reception; and

wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the wireless device to apply the TCI state to one or more downlink control channels of each cell of the plurality of cells.

25. The wireless device of claim 21 , wherein each cell of the plurality of cells is quasi-co-located using a same serving beam for physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) transmission; and

wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the wireless device to apply the TCI state to one or more uplink control channels of each cell of the plurality of cells.

26. The wireless device of claim 21 , wherein the TCI state indicated by the control command is associated with a cell group parameter indicating one or more cell indexes of the plurality of cells, and wherein the one or more cell indexes comprises the cell index for the first cell.

27. The wireless device of claim 21 , wherein the TCI state indicated by the control command is associated with a reference signal, and

wherein demodulation reference signal (DM-RS) antenna ports, of one or more channels associated with control resource sets (CORESETs) of each cell of the plurality of cells, are quasi-co-located with the reference signal.

28. The wireless device of claim 21 , wherein the one or more configuration parameters comprise one or more beam failure recovery (BFR) configuration parameters; and

wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the wireless device to:

send an uplink signal for a BFR procedure;

receive, via one or more downlink control channels, an indication of a completion of the BFR procedure; and

based on the one or more BFR configuration parameters and the indication of the completion of the BFR procedure, stop monitoring of downlink control channels of each cell, of the plurality of cells, other than the first cell.

29. The wireless device of claim 21 , wherein the control command is a medium access control (MAC) control element (CE) activation command.

30. The wireless device of claim 21 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the wireless device to apply the TCI state to one or more channels of each cell of the plurality of cells based on:

the control command indicating the TCI state for the first cell; and

the plurality of cells comprising the first cell.

31. A base station comprising:

one or more processors; and

memory storing instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the base station to:

send one or more configuration parameters indicating a plurality of cells to be updated with a same transmission configuration indication (TCI) state;

send a control command indicating:

a cell index for a first cell of the plurality of cells; and

a TCI state for the first cell; and

perform, via each cell of the plurality of cells and using one or more parameters associated with the TCI state, at least one of transmission or reception.

32. The base station of claim 31 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the base station to:

configure, for the one or more configuration parameters, a cell group parameter indicating one or more cell indexes of the plurality of cells; and

apply, based on the cell group parameter, the TCI state to one or more channels of each cell of the plurality of cells.

33. The base station of claim 31 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the base station to:

receive, based on the TCI state and via one or more uplink control channels of each cell of the plurality of cells, uplink control information; and

send, based on the TCI state and via one or more downlink control channels of each cell of the plurality of cells, downlink control information.

34. The base station of claim 31 , wherein each cell of the plurality of cells is quasi-co-located using a same serving beam for physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) transmission; and

wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the base station to apply the TCI state to one or more downlink control channels of each cell of the plurality of cells.

35. The base station of claim 31 , wherein each cell of the plurality of cells is quasi-co-located using a same serving beam for physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) reception; and

wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the base station to apply the TCI state to one or more uplink control channels of each cell of the plurality of cells.

36. The base station of claim 31 , wherein the TCI state indicated by the control command is associated with a cell group parameter indicating one or more cell indexes of the plurality of cells, and wherein the one or more cell indexes comprises the cell index for the first cell.

37. The base station of claim 31 , wherein the TCI state indicated by the control command is associated with a reference signal, and

wherein demodulation reference signal (DM-RS) antenna ports, of one or more channels associated with control resource sets (CORESETs) of each cell of the plurality of cells, are quasi-co-located with the reference signal.

38. The base station of claim 31 , wherein the one or more configuration parameters comprise one or more beam failure recovery (BFR) configuration parameters; and

wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the base station to:

receive an uplink signal for a BFR procedure; and

send, via one or more downlink control channels, an indication of a completion of the BFR procedure.

39. The base station of claim 31 , wherein the control command is a medium access control (MAC) control element (CE) activation command.

40. The base station of claim 31 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the base station to apply the TCI state to one or more channels of each cell of the plurality of cells based on:

the control command indicating the TCI state for the first cell; and

the plurality of cells comprising the first cell.

41. A system comprising:

a wireless device; and

a base station;

wherein the base station is configured to:

send one or more configuration parameters indicating a plurality of cells to be updated with a same transmission configuration indication (TCI) state; and

send a control command indicating:

a cell index for a first cell of the plurality of cells; and

a TCI state for the first cell; and

wherein the wireless device is configured to:

perform, via each cell of the plurality of cells and using one or more parameters associated with the TCI state, at least one of reception or transmission.

42. The system of claim 41 , wherein the wireless device is further configured to:

determine, based on the one or more configuration parameters, a cell group parameter indicating one or more cell indexes of the plurality of cells; and

apply, based on the cell group parameter, the TCI state to one or more channels of each cell of the plurality of cells.

43. The system of claim 41 , wherein the wireless device is further configured to:

send, based on the TCI state and via one or more uplink control channels of each cell of the plurality of cells, uplink control information; and

wherein the base station is further configured to:

send, based on the TCI state and via one or more downlink control channels of each cell of the plurality of cells, downlink control information.

44. The system of claim 41 , wherein each cell of the plurality of cells is quasi-co-located using a same serving beam for physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) reception; and

wherein the wireless device is further configured to apply the TCI state to one or more downlink control channels of each cell of the plurality of cells.

45. The system of claim 41 , wherein each cell of the plurality of cells is quasi-co-located using a same serving beam for physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) transmission; and

wherein the wireless device is further configured to apply the TCI state to one or more uplink control channels of each cell of the plurality of cells.

46. The system of claim 41 , wherein the TCI state indicated by the control command is associated with a cell group parameter indicating one or more cell indexes of the plurality of cells, and wherein the one or more cell indexes comprises the cell index for the first cell.

47. The system of claim 41 , wherein the TCI state indicated by the control command is associated with a reference signal, and

wherein demodulation reference signal (DM-RS) antenna ports, of one or more channels associated with control resource sets (CORESETs) of each cell of the plurality of cells, are quasi-co-located with the reference signal.

48. The system of claim 41 , wherein the one or more configuration parameters comprise one or more beam failure recovery (BFR) configuration parameters; and

wherein the wireless device is further configured to:

send an uplink signal for a BFR procedure;

receive, via one or more downlink control channels, an indication of a completion of the BFR procedure; and

based on the one or more BFR configuration parameters and the indication of the completion of the BFR procedure, stop monitoring of downlink control channels of each cell, of the plurality of cells, other than the first cell.

49. The system of claim 41 , wherein the control command is a medium access control (MAC) control element (CE) activation command.

50. The system of claim 41 , wherein the wireless device is further configured to apply the TCI state to one or more channels of each cell of the plurality of cells based on:

the control command indicating the TCI state for the first cell; and

the plurality of cells comprising the first cell.
