Abstract

Methods and systems are disclosed that automate and institutionalize many aspects of the process of creating software. Embodiments automate aspects of pricing, software creation, and delivery using a manufacturing-styled approach to development that reuses existing code and other existing software design features.

Claims (37)

1. A system comprising:

a computer running a software creating program that is configured to receive input from a customer and deliver a desired custom software program to the customer, where the input describes at least one aspect of the desired custom software program,

the computer is configured to, based on the input comprising at least one of a platform category, an application template, a platform, a feature, and a build depth, have the software creating program determine existing code components that can be used to create the desired custom software program, where the existing code components are stored in a code library of a server accessible by the software creating program via a communication network,

the computer is configured to generate, by the software creating program, a project template based on the determined existing code components that can be used and based on new code components that must be developed to create the desired custom software program,

the computer is configured to generate, by the software creating program, a project schedule based at least in part on the generated project template, the generated project schedule including events related to the creation of the software program; and manage, by the software creating program, the events related to the creation of the desired custom software program, and

the computer is configured to allow the customer to choose a development team to develop the new code components and complete or augment the project template with the new code components to create the desired custom software program.

2. The system of claim 1 where the system comprises a customer relationship management system that includes an event manager that processes events including project milestones, code commits, and customer messages.

3. The system of claim 2 wherein the event manger is configured to pass event IDs to appropriate subsystems.

4. The system of claim 3 wherein the customer relationship management system includes a chatbot that is configured to send messages to customers based on event ID and parses inbound messaging into the event manager.

5. The system of claim 4 wherein the customer relationship management system includes a content management system that pulls content from the code library and sends the content to customer based on event IDs.

6. The system of claim 1 wherein the system is configured to receive input comprising the system being configured to allow customers to interact with webpages to design a custom software application by being configured to display an interactive web page that presents a group of different types of software applications to select from to be the base for the desired custom software program.

The system of claim 6 wherein the system is configured to receive input comprising the system being configured to display a group of different types of software applications comprising a social and photo centric type, a crowd sourced content type, leveraging simple device capabilities type, or location based type.

8. The system of claim 6 wherein the system is configured to allows the customer to select the one or more types of operating system for which the desired custom software program is developed.

9. The system of claim 6 wherein the system is configured to display a group of different types of software applications comprising a social and photo centric type, a crowd sourced content type, leveraging simple device capabilities type, or location based type.

10. The system of claim 1 wherein the system is configured to machine-assist the customer to design the desired custom software program by displaying a series of interactive menu options from which the customer selects an application type, operating systems, build depth, and other customizations.

11. The system of claim 1 wherein the system is configured to allow customers to interact with webpages to design the desired custom software program by being configured to display an interactive web page that presents a group of different types of software applications to select from to be the base for the desired custom application.

12. A system comprising:

a computer running a software creating program that is configured to receive input from a customer and deliver a desired custom software program to the customer, where the input describes at least one aspect of a desired custom software program,

the computer is configured to, based on the input comprising at least one of a platform category, an application template, a platform, a feature, and a build depth, have the software creating program determine existing code components that can be used to create the desired custom software program, where the existing code components are stored in a code library of a server accessible by the software creating program via a communication network,

the computer is configured to generate, by the software creating program, a project template based on the determined existing code components that can be used and based on new code components that must be developed to create the desired custom software program, and

the computer is configured to generate, by the software creating program, a project schedule based at least in part on the generated project template, the project schedule including events related to the creation of the desired custom software program; and manage, by the software creating program, the events related to the creation of the desired custom software program;

the computer is configured to allow the customer to choose a development team to develop the new code components and complete or augment the project template with the new code components to create the desired custom software program; and

a customer relationship management system that automates messaging with customers.

13. The system of claim 12 where the customer relationship management system that includes an event manager that processes events including project milestones, code commits, and customer messages.

14. The system of claim 13 wherein the event manger is configured to pass event IDs to appropriate subsystems.

15. The system of claim 14 wherein the customer relationship management system includes a chatbot that is configured to send messages to customers based on event ID and parses inbound messaging into the event manager.

The system of claim 12 wherein the system is configured to receive input comprising the system being configured to allow customers to interact with webpages to design the desired custom software program by being configured to display an interactive web page that presents a group of different types of software applications to select from to be the base for the desired custom software program.

The system of claim 17 wherein the system is configured to receive input comprising the system being configured to display a group of different types of software applications comprising a social and photo centric type, a crowd sourced content type, leveraging simple device capabilities type, or location based type.

19. The system of claim 18 wherein the system is configured to allows the customer to select the one or more types of operating system for which the desired custom software program is developed.

20. A system comprising:

a computer running a software creating program that is configured to:

receive input from a customer and deliver a desired custom software program to the customer, where the input describes at least one aspect of a desired custom software program,

wherein the computer is configured to, based on the input comprising at least one of a platform category, an application template, a platform, a feature, and a build depth, have the software creating program, determine existing code components that can be used to create the desired custom software program, wherein the existing code components are stored in a code library of a server accessible by the software creating program via a communication network, wherein the computer is configured to generate, by the software creating program, a project template based on the existing code components that can be used and based on new code components that must be developed to create the desired custom software application,

generate, by the software creating program, a project schedule based at least in part on the generated project template, the project schedule including events related to the creation of the desired custom software program; and manage, by the software creating program, the events related to the creation of the desired custom software program, and

include a project builder that is configured to pass existing and new code components to a team selector process that allows the customer to choose a development team to develop the new code components and complete or augment the project template with the new code components to create the desired custom software program; and

a customer relationship management system that automates messaging with customers.
