Abstract

The present disclosure relates to compositions comprising 2,3,3,3-tetrafluoropropene that may be useful as heat transfer compositions, aerosol propellants, foaming agents, blowing agents, solvents, cleaning agents, carrier fluids, displacement drying agents, buffing abrasion agents, polymerization media, expansion agents for polyolefins and polyurethane, gaseous dielectrics, extinguishing agents, and fire suppression agents in liquid or gaseous form. Additionally, the present disclosure relates to compositions comprising 1,1,2,3-tetrachloropropene, 2-chloro-3,3,3-trifluoropropene, or 2-chloro-1,1,1,2-tetrafluoropropane, which may be useful in processes to produce 2,3,3,3-tetrafluoropropene.

Claims (24)

1. A composition comprising HFO-1234yf, HFO-1243zf, HFO-1225zc, and at least one additional compound which comprises:

i) at least one member selected from the group consisting of HCFC-243db, HFC-245fa, HCFO-1233xf, HCFO-1233zd, HCFC-244bb, HCFC-244db, HFO-1234ze, HFC-245cb, HCFO-1223za, HCFO-1224zb, and HCFO-1232xf;

ii) at least one member selected from the group consisting of HCO-1250xf, HCC-260d, HCC-240a, HCFC-243db, HFC-245fa, 1230xa, HCFO-1233xf, HCFO-1233zd, HCFC-244bb, HCFC-244db, HFO-1234ze, HFC-245cb, HFO-1243zf, HCFO-1223za, HCFO-1224z, HCFC-241db, HCFC-242d, HCFO-1232xf, and HCFO-1231xf; or,

iii) at least one member selected from the group consisting of HCFO-1223za, HCFO-1224zb, HCFO-1232xf, HCFC-1231xf, HCFC-241db, and HCFC-242dc, HCFO-1223za, and HCFO-1224zb.

2. The composition of claim 1 wherein the amount of HFO-1225zc and the at least one additional compound is greater than 0 and less than 1 wt. %.

3. The composition of claim 2 wherein the composition comprises a refrigerant.

4. The composition of claim 1 wherein the additional compound comprises i).

5. The composition of claim 1 wherein the additional compound comprises ii).

6. The composition of claim 1 wherein the additional compound comprises iii).

7. The composition of claim 1 wherein the additional compound comprises i) and ii).

8. The composition of claim 1 wherein the additional compound comprises i) and iii).

9. The composition of claim 1 wherein the additional compound comprises i), ii) and iii).

10. A composition comprising 1233xf, HFO-1225zc and at least one additional compound wherein the additional compound comprises:

i) at least one member selected from the group consisting of HFC-245cb, HCO-1230xa, HFO-1243zf, HCFO-1223za, HCFO-1224zb, HCFO-1233yf, HCFO-1232xf, HFO-1234yf, HCFO-1231xf, HCFC-241db, and HCFC-242dc, and propylene; or,

ii) HCO-1260zf, HCC-260da, HCC-260db, HCO-1250xf, HCC-250aa, HCC-240aa, 245cb HCO-1230xa, HFO-1243zf, HCFO-1223za, HCFO-1224zb, HFO-1225zc, HCFO-1233yf, HCFO-1232xf, HFO-1234yf, HCFO-1231xf, HCFC-241db, and HCFC-242dc, propylene, and HFC-245cb.

11. A method for producing cooling comprising evaporating a composition of claim 3 in the vicinity of a body to be cooled, and thereafter condensing said composition.

12. A method for producing heat comprising condensing a composition of claim 3 in the vicinity of a body to be heated, and thereafter evaporating said compositions.

13. The method of claim 11 wherein the method comprises operating a mobile refrigeration apparatus.

14. The method of claim 11 wherein the method comprises operating a stationary refrigeration apparatus.

15. The method of claim 14 wherein the method comprises operating a mobile air conditioning apparatus.

16. The composition of claim 1 further including HFC-245cb.

17. The composition of claim 10 further including HFC-245cb.

18. The composition of claim 1 wherein HFC-245cb is present in an amount of up to 1000 ppm.

19. The composition of claim 10 wherein HFC-245cb is present in an amount of up to 1000 ppm.
