Abstract

A method of generating a building assembly that includes spraying a coating material onto a plurality of pieces of substrate disposed on a first assembly face. The spraying includes spraying the coating material onto the plurality of pieces of substrate via a sprayer configured to apply the coating material to a target surface via a nozzle coupled with a mobile storage container storing the coating material, the coating material impregnating voids of the substrate. The method also includes allowing the coating material impregnating the voids to dry and harden and become rigid to generate the building assembly.

a platform,

a cart to move on a ground, and

a lift coupled between the platform and the cart, the lift to raise and lower the platform;

a robotic arm having a base end and a distal end, wherein the base end of the robotic arm is coupled to the platform;

one or more sensors to detect surface data comprising a configuration of a building assembly;

a control system to determine a target ratio of a coating and an additive based on a target setting time of the coating; and

a coating end effector to selectively couple to the distal end of the robotic arm, wherein:

when coupled to the robotic arm, the coating end effector to apply the coating on the building assembly based on the surface data, the coating comprising the additive,

during the application of the coating, the coating is mixed with the additive to control a setting time of the coating, and

the coating end effector adjusts a mixing ratio of the coating in accordance with the target ratio determined by the control system.

2. The mobile robotic coating system of claim 1 , wherein the control system further generates an instruction to adjust the mixing ratio of the coating and the additive based on the target ratio.

3. The mobile robotic coating system of claim 1 , wherein the coating end effector comprises:

a mixing nozzle mixing the coating and the additive within a body of the mixing nozzle.

4. The mobile robotic coating system of claim 3 , wherein the coating end effector further:

receives a trigger to clear the mixing nozzle; and

reverses a flow of the coating in the mixing nozzle based on the trigger.

5. The mobile robotic coating system of claim 4 , wherein the trigger to clear in the mixing nozzle comprises one or more of:

detecting a change in a rate of the flow of the coating through the mixing nozzle,

detecting a change in pressure within the mixing nozzle,

detecting an expiration of a time window associated with the setting time of the coating,

detecting a change in a pattern of spray from the coating end effector, and

receiving a user input associated with clearing the mixing nozzle.

6. The mobile robotic coating system of claim 1 , further comprising:

a sanding end effector to selectively couple to the distal end of the robotic arm, wherein when coupled to the robotic arm, the sanding end effector sands the coating based on a determination that the coating is set.

7. The mobile robotic coating system of claim 6 , wherein:

the one or more sensors further detects coating data corresponding to a value of a material property of the coating; and

the control system further determines that the coating is set based on coating data.

8. The mobile robotic coating system of claim 1 , wherein the coating loses moisture after it is set.

9. The mobile robotic coating system of claim 1 , wherein the coating end effector further applies the coating in an area encompassing a seam of the building assembly and excluding the coating outside of the area.

10. The mobile robotic coating system of claim 1 , wherein the coating end effector further applies the coating to a mesh that supports the coating before the coating has set, wherein the coating sets to form a continuous surface and a thickness of the coating defines a full thickness of a wall surface or a ceiling surface.

11. A method of coating a building assembly using a robotic coating system, the method comprising:

receiving, by the robotic coating system, surface data comprising a configuration of the building assembly, wherein the surface data is detected by one or more sensors of the robotic coating system;

determining, by a control system of the robotic coating system, a target ratio of a coating and an additive based on a target setting time of the coating;

applying, by a coating end effector of the robotic coating system, the coating on the building assembly based on the surface data, the coating comprising the additive; and

adjusting, by the coating end effector, a mixing ratio of the coating and the additive in accordance with the target ratio determined by the control system to control a setting time of the coating.

12. The method of claim 11 , further comprising:

generating, by the control system, an instruction to adjust the mixing ratio of the coating and the additive based on the target ratio.

13. The method of claim 11 , further comprising:

applying, by the coating end effector, the coating to a mesh that supports the coating before the coating has set, wherein the coating sets to form a continuous surface, and a thickness of the coating defines a full thickness of a wall surface or a ceiling surface.

14. A non-transitory computer-readable medium comprising instructions that, when executed by at least one processor provided with a robotic coating system, cause the at least one processor to:

receive surface data comprising a configuration of a building assembly, wherein the surface data is detected by one or more sensors of the robotic coating system;

determine a target ratio of a coating and an additive based on a target setting time of the coating;

control a coating end effector of the robotic coating system to apply a coating on the building assembly based on the surface data, the coating comprising an additive; and

cause the coating end effector to adjust a mixing ratio of the coating and the additive in accordance with the target ratio to control a setting time of the coating.

15. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 14 , wherein the instructions further cause the at least one processor to:

receive a trigger to clear a mixing nozzle of the coating end effector that mixes the coating and the additive within a body of the mixing nozzle; and
