Abstract

Systems and methods are described for sharing a user interface between users. The system transmits live video simultaneously to a plurality of users. Then, the system determines a subset of the plurality of users, such that the subset includes two users that have a predetermined relationship. Then, during playback of the video, the system detects an object in a frame of the video corresponding to preferences of the first user. In response, the system determines whether the second user is researching information related to the object during playback of the video. If the second user is researching such information, the system streams a mirror image of a user interface with which the second user is performing the researching to the first user.

Claims (58)

1. A method comprising:

transmitting live video simultaneously to a first user and a second user;

determining that the first user and the second user have a predetermined relationship with each other;

receiving an indication of a content item displayed on a user interface of a first user device used by the first user, wherein the displayed content item includes a plurality of objects;

performing a vector comparison between the plurality of objects to a plurality of graphical templates stored in a database to determine a match between an object, from the plurality of objects, and a graphical template, from the plurality of graphical templates;

in response to determining a match between the object and the graphical template, obtaining the metadata from the database associated with the matched graphical template and associating the metadata with the matched object; and

in response to receiving a search query, from the second user, of a keyword that matches the metadata associated with the matched object:

transmitting search results related to the search query to the user interface of the first user device used by the first user.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein determining the graphical match between the object and the graphical template further comprises:

determining that the object matches a plurality of graphical templates; and

in response to determining that the object matches the plurality of graphical templates:

analyzing metadata keywords associated with each of the plurality of matched graphical templates; and

selecting a graphical template that includes a metadata keyword that matches the object.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein transmitting search results comprises transmitting a mirror image of a user interface of a device used by the second user from which the search query was received.

4. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

accessing a user profile of the first user;

determining whether the user profile lists the second user as related to the first user; and

determining that the first and second user have a predetermined relationship in response to determining that the user profile lists the second user as related to the first user.

5. The method of claim 1 , wherein determining the match between the object and the graphical template further comprises:

graphically matching attributes of the object with the attributes of a graphical image of the graphical template, and

determining the match if the attributes of the object match the attributes of the graphical image of the graphical template.

6. The method of claim 1 , further comprising, transmitting the live video to a second device associated with the second user and receiving the search query from a third device associated with the second user.

7. The method of claim 1 , further comprising, determining an object of interest, from the plurality of objects from the displayed content item, wherein the determination further comprises:

accessing a user profile of the first user; and

comparing metadata of the object with the user profile to determine the object of interest to the first user.

8. The method of claim 1 , wherein the user profile is generated based on past user behavior data of the first user.

9. The method of claim 1 , wherein the user profile is generated based on input received from a third-party service.

10. The method of claim 6 , wherein the second device is a media device, and the third device is a smart device selected from a group consisting of a mobile phone, laptop, tablet computer, or a personal digital assistant.

11. A system comprising:

communications circuitry configured to access a first user device and a device associated with the second user; and

control circuitry configured to:

transmit, using the communications circuitry, live video simultaneously to a first user and a second user;

determine that the first user and the second user have a predetermined relationship with each other;

receive an indication of a content item displayed on a user interface of a first user device used by the first user, wherein the displayed content item includes a plurality of objects;

perform a vector comparison between the plurality of objects to a plurality of graphical templates stored in a database to determine a match between an object, from the plurality of objects, and a graphical template, from the plurality of graphical templates;

in response to determining a match between the object and the graphical template, obtain the metadata from the database associated with the matched graphical template and associate the metadata with the matched object; and

in response to receiving a search query, from the second user, of a keyword that matches the metadata associated with the matched object:

transmit, using the communications circuitry, search results related to the search query to the user interface of the first user device used by the first user.

12. The system of claim 11 , wherein determining the graphical match between the object and the graphical template further comprises, the control circuitry configured to:

determine that the object matches a plurality of graphical templates; and

in response to determining that the object matches the plurality of graphical templates:

analyze metadata keywords associated with each of the plurality of matched graphical templates; and

select a graphical template that includes a metadata keyword that matches the object.

13. The system of claim 11 , wherein transmitting search results comprises, the communications circuitry configured to transmit a mirror image of a user interface of a device used by the second user from which the search query was received.

14. The system of claim 11 , further comprising, the control circuitry configured to:

access a user profile of the first user;

determine whether the user profile lists the second user as related to the first user; and

determine that the first and second user have a predetermined relationship in response to determining that the user profile lists the second user as related to the first user.

15. The system of claim 11 , wherein determining the match between the object and the graphical template further comprises, the control circuitry configured to:

graphically match attributes of the object with the attributes of a graphical image of the graphical template, and

determine the match if the attributes of the object match the attributes of the graphical image of the graphical template.

16. The system of claim 11 , further comprising, transmitting, via the communications circuitry, the live video to a second device associated with the second user and receiving, transmitting, via the communications circuitry, the search query from a third device associated with the second user.

17. The system of claim 11 , further comprising, the control circuitry configured to determine an object of interest, from the plurality of objects from the displayed content item, wherein the determination further comprises:

accessing a user profile of the first user; and

comparing metadata of the object with the user profile to determine the object of interest to the first user.

18. The system of claim 11 , wherein the user profile is generated by the control circuitry based on past user behavior data of the first user.

19. The system of claim 11 , wherein the user profile is generated by the control circuitry based on input received from a third-party service.

20. The system of claim 6 , wherein the second device is a media device, and the third device is a smart device selected by the control circuitry from a group consisting of a mobile phone, laptop, tablet computer, or a personal digital assistant.
