Abstract

Provided is a head-up display including a liquid-crystal panel including a display screen provided at a front surface thereof, a Fresnel lens opposite the liquid-crystal panel from the display screen, a light-diffusion structure between the liquid-crystal panel and the Fresnel lens, a backlight that emits light toward the Fresnel lens, a body part accommodating the Fresnel lens, and a mirror that forms a virtual image corresponding to an image displayed on the display screen of the liquid-crystal panel, in a target space. The body part has a step-shaped structure including a first step surface and a second step surface, the first step surface and the second step surface are oriented in the same direction as the front surface of the liquid-crystal panel, the first step surface is located on the liquid-crystal panel side from the second step surface, and the liquid-crystal panel is supported on the second step surface.

Claims (42)

1. A head-up display comprising:

a liquid-crystal panel including a display screen provided at a front surface thereof;

a Fresnel lens which is on an opposite side of the liquid-crystal panel from the display screen;

a light-diffusion structure between the liquid-crystal panel and the Fresnel lens;

a backlight that emits light toward the Fresnel lens;

a body part accommodating the Fresnel lens; and

a mirror that forms a virtual image corresponding to an image displayed on the display screen of the liquid-crystal panel, in a target space, wherein

the body part has a step-shaped structure including a first step surface and a second step surface, the first step surface and the second step surface being oriented in the same direction as the front surface of the liquid-crystal panel,

the first step surface is located on the liquid-crystal panel side from the second step surface, and

the liquid-crystal panel is supported on the second step surface.

2. The head-up display according to claim 1 , wherein

the step-shaped structure further includes a third step surface oriented in a direction perpendicular to the front surface of the liquid-crystal panel, and

the third step surface is disposed between the first step surface and the second step surface and connects the first step surface and the second step surface.

3. The head-up display according to claim 1 , further comprising:

a light-transmissive member between the backlight and the Fresnel lens.

4. The head-up display according to claim 3 , wherein

the light-transmissive member is thinner than the Fresnel lens.

5. The head-up display according to claim 1 , wherein

the light-diffusion structure has a thickness equal to or smaller than 300 μm.

6. The head-up display according to claim 1 , wherein

the light-diffusion structure has a transmittance equal to or larger than 70%.

7. The head-up display according to claim 1 , wherein

the light-diffusion structure includes a plurality of fine particles, and

an average particle size of the plurality of fine particles is equal to smaller than 20 μm.

8. The head-up display according to claim 1 , wherein

the light-diffusion structure is in contact with the liquid-crystal panel.

9. The head-up display according to claim 1 , further comprising a light-diffusion member, wherein

the light-diffusion structure is provided on at least one surface of the light-diffusion member.

10. The head-up display according to claim 9 , wherein

the light-diffusion member is thinner than the Fresnel lens.

11. The head-up display according to claim 1 , wherein

the body part has a plurality of parts protruding from an outer surface of the body part.

12. The head-up display according to claim 1 , wherein

a surface of the Fresnel lens facing the backlight is uneven.

13. The head-up display according to claim 1 , wherein

light emitted from the backlight diverges in a direction toward the Fresnel lens.

14. The head-up display according to claim 1 , wherein

light emitted from the backlight converges in a direction toward the Fresnel lens.

15. The head-up display according to claim 1 , wherein

the backlight includes light emitting diodes or laser diodes.

16. The head-up display according to claim 1 , wherein

the Fresnel lens is made of glass or resin.
