Abstract

Wireless communications are described. Cells may be grouped into a plurality of cell groups. A wireless device may determine that a secondary cell has an invalid scheduling request (SR) resource based on one or more conditions. The wireless device may send a preamble if the secondary cell has an invalid SR resource.

Claims (94)

1. A method comprising:

receiving, by a wireless device, an activation command indicating activation of a secondary cell, of a secondary cell group different from a primary cell group, configured with uplink scheduling request (SR) resources; and

based on the secondary cell having an invalid uplink SR resource based on the wireless device not having a valid timing advance for the secondary cell in a time interval, sending a random access preamble, associated with a random access procedure, via random access resources of a primary cell or the secondary cell.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein:

the primary cell group is a primary physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) group and the primary cell, of the primary cell group, is configured for a transmission of a primary PUCCH signal to a base station; and

the secondary cell group is a secondary PUCCH group and the secondary cell is configured for a transmission of a secondary PUCCH signal to the base station.

3. The method of claim 1 , further comprising receiving, by the wireless device, configuration parameters of a plurality of cells associated with the wireless device, wherein the configuration parameters comprise:

first configuration parameters of the primary cell group; and

second configuration parameters of the secondary cell group.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein:

the primary cell group is a primary timing advance group (TAG); and

the secondary cell group is a secondary TAG.

5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the secondary cell is in an activated state in the time interval, and wherein the primary cell, of the primary cell group, does not have configured uplink SR resources.

6. The method of claim 1 , further comprising receiving a random access response comprising an uplink grant, and wherein the sending the random access preamble comprises sending the random access preamble via random access resources of the primary cell of the primary cell group.

7. The method of claim 1 , wherein the uplink SR resources are configured in the time interval.

The method of claim 1 , further comprising receiving, by the wireless device, configuration parameters of a plurality of cells associated with the wireless device, wherein the configuration parameters comprise a time alignment timer parameter for a time alignment timer associated with the secondary cell group, and wherein the wireless device not having a valid timing advance in the time interval is based on at least one of:

the time alignment timer not running in the time interval; or

uplink transmission timing of the secondary cell group being invalid in the time interval.

9. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

based on the wireless device having one or more uplink packets for transmission, initiating an SR process for at least one uplink SR that is pending in the time interval.

10. The method of claim 1 , wherein the secondary cell having the invalid uplink SR resource is further based on:

an SR process being pending in the time interval; and

uplink data channel resources not being available for transmission in the time interval.

11. The method of claim 1 , further comprising cancelling, based on the secondary cell having the invalid uplink SR resource, at least one uplink SR pending in the time interval.

12. A wireless device comprising:

one or more processors; and

memory storing instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the wireless device to:

receive an activation command indicating activation of a secondary cell, of a secondary cell group different from a primary cell group, configured with uplink scheduling request (SR) resources; and

based on the secondary cell having an invalid uplink SR resource based on the wireless device not having a valid timing advance for the secondary cell in a time interval, send a random access preamble, associated with a random access procedure, via random access resources of a primary cell or the secondary cell.

13. The wireless device of claim 12 , wherein:

the primary cell group is a primary physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) group and the primary cell, of the primary cell group, is configured for a transmission of a primary PUCCH signal to a base station; and

the secondary cell group is a secondary PUCCH group and the secondary cell is configured for a transmission of a secondary PUCCH signal to the base station.

14. The wireless device of claim 12 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, further cause the wireless device to receive configuration parameters of a plurality of cells associated with the wireless device, wherein the configuration parameters comprise:

first configuration parameters of the primary cell group; and

second configuration parameters of the secondary cell group.

15. The wireless device of claim 12 , wherein:

the primary cell group is a primary timing advance group (TAG); and

the secondary cell group is a secondary TAG.

16. The wireless device of claim 12 , wherein the secondary cell is in an activated state in the time interval, and wherein the primary cell, of the primary cell group, does not have configured uplink SR resources.

17. The wireless device of claim 12 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, further cause the wireless device to receive a random access response comprising an uplink grant, and wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, further cause the wireless device to send the random access preamble by causing sending the random access preamble via random access resources of the primary cell of the primary cell group.

18. The wireless device of claim 12 , wherein the uplink SR resources are configured in the time interval.

The wireless device of claim 12 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, further cause the wireless device to receive configuration parameters of a plurality of cells associated with the wireless device, wherein the configuration parameters comprise a time alignment timer parameter for a time alignment timer associated with the secondary cell group, and wherein the wireless device not having a valid timing advance in the time interval is based on at least one of:

the time alignment timer not running in the time interval; or

uplink transmission timing of the secondary cell group being invalid in the time interval.

20. The wireless device of claim 12 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, further cause the wireless device to:

based on the wireless device having one or more uplink packets for transmission, initiate an SR process for at least one uplink SR that is pending in the time interval.

21. The wireless device of claim 12 , wherein the secondary cell having the invalid uplink SR resource is further based on:

an SR process being pending in the time interval; and

uplink data channel resources not being available for transmission in the time interval.

22. The wireless device of claim 12 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, further cause the wireless device to cancel, based on the secondary cell having the invalid uplink SR resource, at least one uplink SR pending in the time interval.

23. A method comprising:

sending, by a base station and to a wireless device, an activation command indicating activation of a secondary cell, of a secondary cell group different from a primary cell group, configured with uplink scheduling request (SR) resources; and

based on the secondary cell having an invalid uplink SR resource based on the wireless device not having a valid timing advance for the secondary cell in a time interval, receiving a random access preamble, associated with a random access procedure, via random access resources of a primary cell or the secondary cell.

24. The method of claim 23 , wherein:

the primary cell group is a primary physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) group and the primary cell, of the primary cell group, is configured for a transmission of a primary PUCCH signal to the base station; and

the secondary cell group is a secondary PUCCH group and the secondary cell is configured for a transmission of a secondary PUCCH signal to the base station.

25. The method of claim 23 , further comprising sending, by the base station, configuration parameters of a plurality of cells associated with the wireless device, wherein the configuration parameters comprise:

first configuration parameters of the primary cell group; and

second configuration parameters of the secondary cell group.

26. The method of claim 23 , wherein:

the primary cell group is a primary timing advance group (TAG); and

the secondary cell group is a secondary TAG.

27. The method of claim 23 , wherein the secondary cell is in an activated state in the time interval, and wherein the primary cell, of the primary cell group, does not have configured uplink SR resources.

28. The method of claim 23 , further comprising sending a random access response comprising an uplink grant, and wherein the receiving the random access preamble comprises receiving the random access preamble via random access resources of the primary cell of the primary cell group.

29. The method of claim 23 , wherein the uplink SR resources are configured in the time interval.

30. The method of claim 23 , further comprising sending, by the base station, configuration parameters of a plurality of cells associated with the wireless device, wherein the configuration parameters comprise a time alignment timer parameter for a time alignment timer associated with the secondary cell group, and wherein the wireless device not having a valid timing advance in the time interval is based on at least one of:

the time alignment timer not running in the time interval; or

uplink transmission timing of the secondary cell group being invalid in the time interval.

31. The method of claim 23 , wherein the secondary cell having the invalid uplink SR resource is further based on:

an SR process being pending in the time interval; and

uplink data channel resources not being available for transmission in the time interval.

32. A base station comprising:

one or more processors; and

memory storing instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the base station to:

send, to a wireless device, an activation command indicating activation of a secondary cell, of a secondary cell group different from a primary cell group, configured with uplink scheduling request (SR) resources; and

based on secondary cell having an invalid uplink SR resource based on the wireless device not having a valid timing advance for the secondary cell in a time interval, receive a random access preamble, associated with a random access procedure, via random access resources of a primary cell or the secondary cell.

33. The base station of claim 32 , wherein:

the primary cell group is a primary physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) group and the primary cell, of the primary cell group, is configured for a transmission of a primary PUCCH signal to the base station; and

the secondary cell group is a secondary PUCCH group and the secondary cell is configured for a transmission of a secondary PUCCH signal to the base station.

34. The base station of claim 32 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, further cause the base station to send configuration parameters of a plurality of cells associated with the wireless device, wherein the configuration parameters comprise:

first configuration parameters of the primary cell group; and

second configuration parameters of the secondary cell group.

35. The base station of claim 32 , wherein:

the primary cell group is a primary timing advance group (TAG); and

the secondary cell group is a secondary TAG.

36. The base station of claim 32 , wherein the secondary cell is in an activated state in the time interval, and wherein the primary cell, of the primary cell group, does not have configured uplink SR resources.

37. The base station of claim 32 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, further cause the base station to send a random access response comprising an uplink grant, and wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, further cause the base station to receive the random access preamble by causing receiving the random access preamble via random access resources of the primary cell of the primary cell group.

38. The base station of claim 32 , wherein the uplink SR resources are configured in the time interval.

39. The base station of claim 32 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, further cause the base station to send configuration parameters of a plurality of cells associated with the wireless device, wherein the configuration parameters comprise a time alignment timer parameter for a time alignment timer associated with the secondary cell group, and wherein the wireless device not having a valid timing advance in the time interval is based on at least one of:

the time alignment timer not running in the time interval; or

uplink transmission timing of the secondary cell group being invalid in the time interval.

40. The base station of claim 32 , wherein the secondary cell having the invalid uplink SR resource is further based on:

an SR process being pending in the time interval; and

uplink data channel resources not being available for transmission in the time interval.
