Abstract

In some embodiments, a transaction-related communication system includes one or more receiving modules configured for receiving a first item of inventory transaction information from a customer-facing interface, and receiving a second item of inventory transaction information from a merchant-facing point-of-sale interface. In some embodiments, the transaction-related communication system includes an inventory coordination module configured for rendering in a common internal format the first item of inventory transaction information from the customer-facing interface, and rendering in the common internal format the second item of inventory transaction information from the merchant-facing point-of-sale interface. In some embodiments, the transaction-related communication system includes an inventory coordination module configured for transmitting the second item of inventory transaction information for inventory transaction execution by the second inventory resource, and transmitting the first item of inventory transaction information for inventory transaction execution by a first inventory resource.

Claims (97)

1 . A system comprising:

one or more computers configured to implement by executing instructions on one or more processors, a transaction-related communication system, wherein the transaction-related communication system comprises:

one or more receiving modules including a single stack application program interface residing on one or more servers of the one or more computers configured for:

receiving a first item of inventory transaction information from a customer-facing interface, a second item of the inventory transaction information from a merchant-facing point-of-sale (POS) interface, or a combination thereof, wherein the customer-facing interface and the merchant-facing POS interface presented on a device are communicatively coupled to the one or more receiving modules via a network;

a point of sale server configured for:

translating the first item of the inventory transaction information from the customer-facing interface and the second item of the inventory transaction information from the merchant-facing POS interface into a common internal format, wherein the common internal format includes a common intake transaction ticket format, received at the single stack application program interface residing on the one or more servers of the one or more computers;

an inventory coordination module configured for:

transmitting the first item of the inventory transaction information and the second item of the inventory transaction information to one or more inventory resources for inventory transaction execution;

updating, in real-time, a unified inventory database based, at least in part, on fulfillment of the first item of the inventory transaction information and the second item of the inventory transaction information; and

a synchronization server module configured for:

processing one or more transactions using locally stored copies of inventory data and transaction data during periods of connectivity loss with the one or more servers, tracking modifications to the transaction data during offline operations, and synchronizing the modifications with the one or more servers upon restoration of connectivity to minimize transaction disruption;

providing background updates for unified inventory data and unified format transactions in the customer-facing interface and the merchant-facing POS interface, wherein the synchronization server module executes off-peak updates of the unified inventory database outside of time-critical traffic flow to incorporate the modifications tracked during the offline operations; and

generating a presentation of real-time updates on inventory levels, transaction trends, and performance metrics in a graphical user interface integrated into the customer-facing interface and the merchant-facing POS interface for maintaining synchronization with the unified inventory database;

a transaction execution module residing on the one or more servers of the one or more computers configured for:

transmitting, in a second format, the first item of the inventory transaction information for payment processing by a first external financial party;

transmitting, in a third format, the second item of the inventory transaction information for the payment processing by a second external financial party; and

receiving a transaction authorization confirmation, wherein a payment processing gateway establishes secure communication links with the one or more servers of external financial processors through encryption protocols for transmitting the transaction authorization confirmation.

2 . The system of claim 1 , further comprising:

the one or more receiving modules further configured for:

receiving, over the network, an order for an item in the common intake transaction ticket format as the first item of the inventory transaction information from the customer-facing interface;

receiving, over the network, a return of the item in the common intake transaction ticket format as the second item of the inventory transaction information from the merchant-facing POS interface; and

the inventory coordination module further configured for:

querying, in real-time, the unified inventory database to determine a possibility to fulfill the order for the item.

3 . The system of claim 1 , further comprising:

the inventory coordination module further configured for:

monitoring, in real-time, one or more consolidated stock levels to determine re-order requirements; and

generating re-order instructions based on the re-order requirements and updating the unified inventory database.

4 . The system of claim 2 , further comprising:

the inventory coordination module further configured for:

deconstructing the order for the item from the first item of the inventory transaction information from the customer-facing interface into a financial transaction and an inventory transaction;

translating the financial transaction and the inventory transaction into a unified format; and

a business intelligence analytics module configured for:

generating business intelligence analytics data based, at least in part, on the financial transaction and the inventory transaction, wherein generating the business intelligence analytics data includes performing risk assessment to authorize or deny the one or more transactions.

5 . The system of claim 2 , further comprising:

the one or more receiving modules further configured for:

receiving a change in the order for the first item of the inventory transaction information from the customer-facing interface; and

the inventory coordination module further configured for:

updating the unified inventory database based, at least in part, on confirmation of the change in the order for the first item of the inventory transaction information.

6 . The system of claim 1 , further comprising:

the point of sale server further configured for:

rendering, in the second format, the first item of financial transaction information; and

rendering, in the third format, the first item of the financial transaction information.

7 . The system of claim 6 , further comprising:

the point of sale server is further configured for:

transmitting an indication of the transaction authorization confirmation.

8 . A method comprising:

one or more computers executing instructions on one or more processors for a transaction-related communication system, comprising:

one or more receiving modules including a single stack application program interface residing on one or more servers of the one or more computers for receiving a first item of inventory transaction information from a customer-facing interface, a second item of the inventory transaction information from a merchant-facing point-of-sale (POS) interface, or a combination thereof, wherein the customer-facing interface and the merchant-facing POS interface presented on a device are communicatively coupled to the one or more receiving modules via a network;

a point of sale server translating the first item of the inventory transaction information from the customer-facing interface and the second item of the inventory transaction information from the merchant-facing POS interface into a common internal format, wherein the common internal format includes a common intake transaction ticket format, received at the single stack application program interface residing on the one or more servers of the one or more computers;

an inventory coordination module transmitting the first item of the inventory transaction information and the second item of the inventory transaction information to one or more inventory resources for inventory transaction execution;

the inventory coordination module updating, in real-time, a unified inventory database based, at least in part, on fulfillment of the first item of the inventory transaction information and the second item of the inventory transaction information;

a synchronization server module processing one or more transactions using locally stored copies of inventory data and transaction data during periods of connectivity loss with the one or more servers, tracking modifications to the transaction data during offline operations, and synchronizing the modifications with the one or more servers upon restoration of connectivity to minimize transaction disruption;

the synchronization server module providing background updates for unified inventory data and unified format transactions in the customer-facing interface and the merchant-facing POS interface, wherein the synchronization server module executes off-peak updates of the unified inventory database outside of time-critical traffic flow to incorporate the modifications tracked during the offline operations;

the synchronization server module generating a presentation of real-time updates on inventory levels, transaction trends, and performance metrics in a graphical user interface integrated into the customer-facing interface and the merchant-facing POS interface for maintaining synchronization with the unified inventory database;

a transaction execution module transmitting, in a second format, the first item of the inventory transaction information for payment processing by a first external financial party;

the transaction execution module transmitting, in a third format, the second item of the inventory transaction information for the payment processing by a second external financial party; and

the transaction execution module receiving a transaction authorization confirmation, wherein a payment processing gateway establishes secure communication links with the one or more servers of external financial processors through encryption protocols for transmitting the transaction authorization confirmation.

9 . The method of claim 8 , further comprising:

the one or more receiving modules receiving, over the network, an order for an item in the common intake transaction ticket format as the first item of the inventory transaction information from the customer-facing interface;

receiving, over the network, a return of the item in the common intake transaction ticket format as the second item of the inventory transaction information from the merchant-facing POS interface; and

the inventory coordination module querying, in real-time, the unified inventory database to determine a possibility to fulfill the order for the item.

10 . The method of claim 8 , further comprising:

the inventory coordination module monitoring, in real-time, one or more consolidated stock levels to determine re-order requirements; and

the inventory coordination module generating re-order instructions based on the re-order requirements and updating the unified inventory database.

11 . The method of claim 9 , further comprising:

the inventory coordination module deconstructing the order for the item from the first item of the inventory transaction information from the customer-facing interface into a financial transaction and an inventory transaction;

the inventory coordination module translating the financial transaction and the inventory transaction into a unified format; and

a business intelligence analytics module generating business intelligence analytics data based, at least in part, on the financial transaction and the inventory transaction, wherein generating the business intelligence analytics data includes performing risk assessment to authorize or deny the one or more transactions.

12 . The method of claim 9 , further comprising:

the one or more receiving modules receiving a change in the order for the first item of the inventory transaction information from the customer-facing interface; and

the inventory coordination module updating the unified inventory database based, at least in part, on confirmation of the change in the order for the first item of the inventory transaction information.

13 . The method of claim 8 , further comprising:

the point of sale server rendering the first item of financial transaction information in the second format; and

the point of sale server rendering the first item of the financial transaction information in the third format.

14 . The method of claim 13 , further comprising:

the point of sale server transmitting an indication of the transaction authorization confirmation.

15 . A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing program instructions, wherein the program instructions are computer-executable to implement:

one or more receiving modules including a single stack application program interface residing on one or more servers of one or more computers for receiving a first item of inventory transaction information from a customer-facing interface, a second item of the inventory transaction information from a merchant-facing point-of-sale (POS) interface, or a combination thereof, wherein the customer-facing interface and the merchant-facing POS interface presented on a device are communicatively coupled to the one or more receiving modules via a network;

a point of sale server translating the first item of the inventory transaction information from the customer-facing interface and the second item of the inventory transaction information from the merchant-facing POS interface into a common internal format, wherein the common internal format includes a common intake transaction ticket format, received at the single stack application program interface residing on the one or more servers of the one or more computers;

an inventory coordination module transmitting the first item of the inventory transaction information and the second item of the inventory transaction information to one or more inventory resources for inventory transaction execution;

the inventory coordination module updating, in real-time, a unified inventory database based, at least in part, on fulfillment of the first item of the inventory transaction information and the second item of the inventory transaction information;

a synchronization server module processing one or more transactions using locally stored copies of inventory data and transaction data during periods of connectivity loss with the one or more servers, tracking modifications to the transaction data during offline operations, and synchronizing the modifications with the one or more servers upon restoration of connectivity to minimize transaction disruption;

the synchronization server module providing background updates for unified inventory data and unified format transactions in the customer-facing interface and the merchant-facing POS interface, wherein the synchronization server module executes off-peak updates of the unified inventory database outside of time-critical traffic flow to incorporate the modifications tracked during the offline operations;

the synchronization server module generating a presentation of real-time updates on inventory levels, transaction trends, and performance metrics in a graphical user interface integrated into the customer-facing interface and the merchant-facing POS interface for maintaining synchronization with the unified inventory database;

a transaction execution module transmitting, in a second format, the first item of the inventory transaction information for payment processing by a first external financial party;

the transaction execution module transmitting, in a third format, the second item of the inventory transaction information for the payment processing by a second external financial party; and

the transaction execution module receiving a transaction authorization confirmation, wherein a payment processing gateway establishes secure communication links with the one or more servers of external financial processors through encryption protocols for transmitting the transaction authorization confirmation.

16 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing program instructions of claim 15 , further comprising:

the one or more receiving modules receiving, over the network, an order for an item in the common intake transaction ticket format as the first item of the inventory transaction information from the customer-facing interface;

receiving, over the network, a return of the item in the common intake transaction ticket format as the second item of the inventory transaction information from the merchant-facing POS interface; and

the inventory coordination module querying, in real-time, the unified inventory database to determine a possibility to fulfill the order for the item.

17 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing program instructions of claim 15 , further comprising:

the inventory coordination module monitoring, in real-time, one or more consolidated stock levels to determine re-order requirements; and

the inventory coordination module generating re-order instructions based on the re-order requirements and updating the unified inventory database.

18 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the synchronization server module provides the background updates of transaction data flow by utilizing serial numbers, upon receiving the serial numbers, a list of query objects, or object types to track updates across the transactions.

19 . The system of claim 18 , further comprising:

assimilating one or more reply objects received from the synchronization server module into a local mirror copy of the unified inventory database.
