Abstract

An example method includes accessing a network communication at a database proprietor server, the network communication including one or more audience measurement entity cookie identifiers associated with one or more audience measurement entity cookies, the one or more audience measurement entity cookies from an audience measurement entity server and stored in a client device; generating one or more cookie mappings of the audience measurement entity cookies to respective one or more database proprietor cookies, the one or more database proprietor cookies from the database proprietor server and stored in the client device; and causing transmission of one or more re-direct messages to cause the client device to send the one or more cookie mappings in a batch to the audience measurement entity server, a re-direct message of the one or more re-direct messages including a first database proprietor cookie identifier and a first audience measurement entity cookie identifier.

Claims (36)

1. An apparatus, comprising:

a communications interface to receive a network communication at a database proprietor server, the network communication being from a client device, the network communication including one or more audience measurement entity cookie identifiers associated with one or more audience measurement entity cookies, the one or more audience measurement entity cookies are from an audience measurement entity server and stored in the client device; and

a cookie mapper to generate one or more cookie mappings of the audience measurement entity cookies to respective one or more database proprietor cookies, the one or more database proprietor cookies are from the database proprietor server and stored in the client device,

the communications interface to send one or more re-direct messages to cause the client device to send the one or more cookie mappings in a batch to the audience measurement entity server, a re-direct message of the one or more re-direct messages including a first database proprietor cookie identifier, a first audience measurement entity cookie identifier, and an indication of association between the first database proprietor cookie identifier and the first audience measurement entity cookie identifier, at least one of the communications interface or the cookie mapper to include circuitry.

2. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the communications interface is to send a uniform resource locator in the re-direct message of the one or more re-direct messages.

3. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the batch includes the one or more cookie mappings in one or more files.

4. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the network communication is a hypertext transfer protocol request.

5. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the communications interface is to send demographic information with the one or more cookie mappings to the client device.

6. The apparatus of claim 5 , wherein the demographic information corresponds to users registered with a database proprietor associated with the database proprietor server.

7. A non-transitory machine readable medium comprising instructions that, when executed, cause at least one processor to at least:

access a network communication at a database proprietor server, the network communication being from a client device, the network communication including one or more audience measurement entity cookie identifiers associated with one or more audience measurement entity cookies, the one or more audience measurement entity cookies corresponding to an audience measurement entity server and stored in the client device;

generate one or more cookie mappings of the audience measurement entity cookies to respective one or more database proprietor cookies, the one or more database proprietor cookies corresponding to the database proprietor server and stored in the client device; and

cause transmission of one or more re-direct messages to cause the client device to send the one or more cookie mappings in a batch to the audience measurement entity server, a re-direct message of the one or more re-direct messages including a first database proprietor cookie identifier, a first audience measurement entity cookie identifier, and an indication of association between the first database proprietor cookie identifier and the first audience measurement entity cookie identifier.

8. The non-transitory machine readable medium of claim 7 , wherein the instructions, when executed, cause the at least one processor to send a uniform resource locator in the re-direct message of the one or more re-direct messages.

9. The non-transitory machine readable medium of claim 7 , wherein the batch includes the one or more cookie mappings in one or more files.

10. The non-transitory machine readable medium of claim 7 , wherein the network communication is a hypertext transfer protocol request.

11. The non-transitory machine readable medium of claim 7 , wherein the instructions, when executed, cause the at least one processor to cause transmission of demographic information with the one or more cookie mappings to the client device.

12. The non-transitory machine readable medium of claim 11 , wherein the demographic information corresponds to users registered with a database proprietor associated with the database proprietor server.

13. A method comprising:

accessing, by executing an instruction with a processor, a network communication at a database proprietor server, the network communication being from a client device, the network communication including one or more audience measurement entity cookie identifiers associated with one or more audience measurement entity cookies, the one or more audience measurement entity cookies set by an audience measurement entity server and stored in the client device;

generating, by executing an instruction with the processor, one or more cookie mappings of the audience measurement entity cookies to respective one or more database proprietor cookies, the one or more database proprietor cookies set by the database proprietor server and stored in the client device; and

causing, by executing an instruction with the processor, transmission of one or more re-direct messages to cause the client device to send the one or more cookie mappings in a batch to the audience measurement entity server, a re-direct message of the one or more re-direct messages including a first database proprietor cookie identifier, a first audience measurement entity cookie identifier, and an indication of association between the first database proprietor cookie identifier and the first audience measurement entity cookie identifier.

14. The method of claim 13 , further including sending a uniform resource locator in the re-direct message of the one or more re-direct messages.

15. The method of claim 13 , wherein the batch includes the one or more cookie mappings in one or more files.

16. The method of claim 13 , wherein the network communication is a hypertext transfer protocol request.

17. The method of claim 13 , further including sending demographic information with the one or more cookie mappings to the client device.

18. The method of claim 17 , wherein the demographic information corresponds to users registered with a database proprietor associated with the database proprietor server.

19. An apparatus, comprising:

means for communicating to receive a network communication at a database proprietor server, the network communication being from a client device, the network communication including one or more audience measurement entity cookie identifiers associated with one or more audience measurement entity cookies, the one or more audience measurement entity cookies being from an audience measurement entity server and stored in the client device; and

means for generating one or more cookie mappings of the audience measurement entity cookies to respective one or more database proprietor cookies, the one or more database proprietor cookies being from the database proprietor server and stored in the client device,

the means for communicating to send one or more re-direct messages to cause the client device to send the one or more cookie mappings in a batch to the audience measurement entity server, a re-direct message of the one or more re-direct messages including a first database proprietor cookie identifier, a first audience measurement entity cookie identifier, and an indication of association between the first database proprietor cookie identifier and the first audience measurement entity cookie identifier.

20. The apparatus of claim 19 , wherein the means for communicating is to send a uniform resource locator in the re-direct message of the one or more re-direct messages.

21. The apparatus of claim 19 , wherein the batch includes the one or more cookie mappings in one or more files.

22. The apparatus of claim 19 , wherein the network communication is a hypertext transfer protocol request.

23. The apparatus of claim 19 , wherein the means for communicating is to send demographic information with the one or more cookie mappings to the client device.
