Abstract

Machine data reflecting operation of a monitored system is ingested and made available for search by a data intake and query system (DIQS). Monitoring includes obtaining a subset of ordered events that are assigned to a task. In a graphical user interface on a display, a chart for the task is displayed. The chart includes an event identifier for each event of the subset of the ordered events, a confidence level value related to each event identifier of each event of the subset of ordered events, the confidence level value indicating the confidence level that the event is in the task. The chart further includes a time reference value identifying a time of each event.

Claims (56)

1. A computer-implemented method comprising:

obtaining a subset of a plurality of ordered events that are assigned to a task of a plurality of tasks; and

displaying, in a graphical user interface on a display, a chart for the task of the plurality of tasks, the chart comprising:

an event identifier for each event of the subset of the plurality of ordered events,

a confidence level value related to each event identifier of each event of the subset of the plurality of ordered events, the confidence level value indicating a confidence level that the event is in the task, and

a time reference value identifying a time of each event.

2. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , further comprising:

displaying, for the task, a task instance header bar comprising a task identifier and a task description.

3. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , further comprising:

displaying, for the task, a task instance header bar comprising a task identifier, a task description, and a collapse/expand control element.

4. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , further comprising:

displaying, for the task, a task instance header bar comprising a collapse/expand control element, wherein the chart is displayed responsive to the collapse/expand control element being selected.

5. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , further comprising:

displaying, individually, for each corresponding task of the plurality of tasks, a task instance header bar comprising a task identifier, a task description, and a collapse/expand control element for the corresponding task.

6. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , further comprising:

displaying, individually, for each corresponding task of the plurality of tasks, a task instance header bar comprising a task identifier, a task description, and a collapse/expand control element for the corresponding task; and

displaying an expanded view for the corresponding task when the collapse/expand control element is selected, the expanded view comprising the chart.

7. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein the chart further comprises:

an event type identifier identifying a type of event.

8. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , further comprising:

executing a query on a data intake and query system for the plurality of ordered events; and

generating the confidence level value for each event in the subset of the plurality of ordered events based on a cluster analysis of the plurality of ordered events received responsive to the query.

9. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of ordered events comprises a log of raw machine data.

10. A computing device, comprising:

a processor; and

a non-transitory computer-readable medium having stored thereon instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to perform operations including:

obtaining a subset of a plurality of ordered events that are assigned to a task of a plurality of tasks, and

displaying, in a graphical user interface on a display, a chart for the task of the plurality of tasks, the chart comprising:

an event identifier for each event of the subset of the plurality of ordered events,

a confidence level value related to each event identifier of each event of the subset of the plurality of ordered events, the confidence level value indicating a confidence level that the event is in the task, and

a time reference value identifying a time of each event.

11. The computing device of claim 10 , wherein the operations further include:

displaying, for the task, a task instance header bar comprising a task identifier and a task description.

12. The computing device of claim 10 , wherein the operations further include:

displaying, for the task, a task instance header bar comprising a task identifier, a task description, and a collapse/expand control element.

13. The computing device of claim 10 , wherein the operations further include:

displaying, for the task, a task instance header bar comprising a collapse/expand control element, wherein the chart is displayed responsive to the collapse/expand control element being selected.

14. The computing device of claim 10 , wherein the operations further include:

displaying, individually, for each corresponding task of the plurality of tasks, a task instance header bar comprising a task identifier, a task description, and a collapse/expand control element for the corresponding task.

15. The computing device of claim 10 , wherein the operations further include:

displaying, individually, for each corresponding task of the plurality of tasks, a task instance header bar comprising a task identifier, a task description, and a collapse/expand control element for the corresponding task; and

displaying an expanded view for the corresponding task when the collapse/expand control element is selected, the expanded view comprising the chart.

16. The computing device of claim 10 , wherein the chart further comprises:

an event type identifier identifying a type of event.

17. The computing device of claim 10 , wherein the operations further include:

executing a query on a data intake and query system for the plurality of ordered events; and

generating the confidence level value for each event in the subset of the plurality of ordered events based on a cluster analysis of the plurality of ordered events received responsive to the query.

18. The computing device of claim 10 , wherein the plurality of ordered events comprises a log of raw machine data.

19. A non-transitory computer-readable medium having stored thereon instructions that, when executed by one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to perform operations including:

obtaining a subset of a plurality of ordered events that are assigned to a task of a plurality of tasks; and

displaying, in a graphical user interface on a display, a chart for the task of the plurality of tasks, the chart comprising:

an event identifier for each event of the subset of the plurality of ordered events,

a confidence level value related to each event identifier of each event of the subset of the plurality of ordered events, the confidence level value indicating a confidence level that the event is in the task, and

a time reference value identifying a time of each event.

20. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 19 , wherein the operations further include:

displaying, individually, for each corresponding task of the plurality of tasks, a task instance header bar comprising a collapse/expand control element for the corresponding task.
