Abstract

Performing radiometric terrain correction includes receiving an uncorrected image and acquisition geometry metadata. It further includes determining an acquisition classification based at least in part on the acquisition geometry metadata. It further includes based at least in part on the acquisition classification, determining whether a correction factor corresponding to the acquisition classification exists. It further includes in response to determining that the correction factor corresponding to the acquisition classification does not exist: determining a correction factor; and storing the correction factor. It further includes associating the uncorrected image with the correction factor.

Claims (44)

1. A system, comprising:

a processor configured to:

receive an uncorrected image and acquisition geometry metadata;

determine an acquisition classification based at least in part on the acquisition geometry metadata;

based at least in part on the acquisition classification, determine whether a correction factor corresponding to the acquisition classification exists;

in response to determining that the correction factor corresponding to the acquisition classification does not exist:

determine the correction factor; and

store the correction factor; and

associate the uncorrected image with the correction factor; and

a memory coupled to the processor and configured to provide the processor with is instructions.

2. The system of claim 1 , wherein the acquisition geometry metadata comprises an orbit track, and wherein the acquisition classification is based at least in part on the orbit track.

3. The system of claim 1 , wherein the acquisition geometry metadata comprises an indication of time since a satellite passed the Equator, and wherein the acquisition classification is based at least in part on the indication of time since the satellite passed the Equator.

4. The system of claim 1 , wherein the acquisition geometry metadata comprises a swath, and wherein the acquisition classification is based at least in part on the swath.

5. The system of claim 1 , wherein the determining whether the correction factor corresponding to the acquisition classification exists comprises performing a lookup of a data store using the acquisition classification as a key.

6. The system of claim 1 , wherein storing the correction factor comprises indexing the correction factor at least in part by the acquisition classification.

7. The system of claim 1 , wherein associating the uncorrected image with the correction factor comprises associating the uncorrected image with the acquisition classification.

8. The system of claim 1 , wherein the uncorrected image is labeled at least in part by using the acquisition classification.

9. The system of claim 1 , wherein the processor is further configured to align the uncorrected image at least in part by performing geocoding.

10. The system of claim 1 , wherein the processor is further configured to store the uncorrected image.

11. A method, comprising:

receiving an uncorrected image and acquisition geometry metadata;

determining an acquisition classification based at least in part on the acquisition geometry metadata;

based at least in part on the acquisition classification, determining whether a correction factor corresponding to the acquisition classification exists;

in response to determining that the correction factor corresponding to the acquisition classification does not exist:

determining the correction factor; and

storing the correction factor; and

associating the uncorrected image with the correction factor.

12. The method of claim 11 , wherein the acquisition geometry metadata comprises an orbit track, and wherein the acquisition classification is based at least in part on the orbit track.

13. The method of claim 11 , wherein the acquisition geometry metadata comprises an indication of time since a satellite passed the Equator, and wherein the acquisition classification is based at least in part on the indication of time since the satellite passed the Equator.

14. The method of claim 11 , wherein the acquisition geometry metadata comprises a swath, and wherein the acquisition classification is based at least in part on the swath.

15. The method of claim 11 , wherein the determining whether the correction factor corresponding to the acquisition classification exists comprises performing a lookup of a data store using the acquisition classification as a key.

16. The method of claim 11 , wherein storing the correction factor comprises indexing the correction factor at least in part by the acquisition classification.

17. The method of claim 11 , wherein associating the uncorrected image with the correction factor comprises associating the uncorrected image with the acquisition classification.

18. The method of claim 11 , wherein the uncorrected image is labeled at least in part by using the acquisition classification.

19. The method of claim 11 , further comprising aligning the uncorrected image at least in part by performing geocoding.

20. The method of claim 11 , further comprising storing the uncorrected image.

21. A computer program product embodied in a non-transitory computer readable medium and comprising computer instructions for:

receiving an uncorrected image and acquisition geometry metadata;

determining an acquisition classification based at least in part on the acquisition geometry metadata;

based at least in part on the acquisition classification, determining whether a correction factor corresponding to the acquisition classification exists;

is in response to determining that the correction factor corresponding to the acquisition classification does not exist:

determining the correction factor; and

storing the correction factor; and

associating the uncorrected image with the correction factor.
