Abstract

In one embodiment, a WCD is described. The WCD includes a support structure configured to be worn by a patient and a processor coupled to the support structure. The WCD also includes an energy storage module configured to store an electrical charge and in communication with the processor. The WCD also includes a discharge circuit coupled to the energy storage module, the discharge circuit in communication with the processor and configured to discharge the stored electrical charge through a body of the patient. The processor is configured to detect an event at the WCD, classify the detected event, and determine an alarm onset time of the detected event based at least in part on the event classification. The processor is further configured to issue the alarm after the alarm onset time.

Claims (37)

1. A wearable cardioverter defibrillator (WCD), comprising:

a support structure configured to be worn by a patient;

a processor coupled to the support structure;

an energy storage module configured to store an electrical charge and in communication with the processor; and

a discharge circuit coupled to the energy storage module, the discharge circuit in communication with the processor and configured to discharge the stored electrical charge through a body of the patient;

wherein the processor is configured to:

detect an event at the WCD;

determine a category of the detected event based on at least one of a plurality of device conditions; and

implement a user interface, wherein the user interface is configured to:

determine an alert onset time for the categorized event based on the at least one of the plurality of device conditions;

delay an issuance of an alert based on the alert onset time; and

filter transient conditions with the delay in the alert onset time.

2. The WCD of claim 1 , wherein the user interface is further configured to:

determine if the detected event has ended;

determine an alert offset time for the categorized event based on the at least one of the plurality of device conditions; and

delay a resolution of the alert based on the alert offset time.

3. The WCD of claim 2 , wherein the user interface is further configured to filter transient conditions with the delay in the alert offset time.

4. The WCD of claim 1 , wherein the user interface is further configured to display one or more defibrillator metrics of a defibrillator or the WCD.

5. The WCD of claim 4 , wherein the one or more defibrillator metrics comprise a status of the defibrillator, an electrocardiogram (ECG) of a user, a status of a battery charge, a status of an energy storage module charge, or a combination thereof.

6. The WCD of claim 1 , wherein the processor is configured to detect the event at the WCD:

using one of an algorithm detection, a performance issue, or a combination thereof.

7. The WCD of claim 1 , wherein the processor is configured to determine the category of the detected event as one of a binary event or an indeterminate event.

8. The WCD of claim 7 , wherein the binary event is a discernable event with a singular determinant factor.

9. The WCD of claim 7 , wherein the indeterminate event requires analysis to determine if the event exists.

10. The WCD of claim 9 , wherein when the indeterminate event requires the analysis to determine if the event exists, an offset time to delay a resolution of the alert is a longer offset time.

11. The WCD of claim 10 , wherein the longer offset time is between 1 second and 60 seconds.

12. The WCD of claim 10 , wherein the longer offset time is between 10 minutes and 30 minutes.

13. The WCD of claim 7 , wherein when the event is determined as the binary event, an offset time to delay a resolution of the alert is a zero-offset time.

14. The WCD of claim 7 , wherein when the event is determined as the binary event, an offset time to delay a resolution of the alert is a short offset time.

15. The WCD of claim 14 , wherein the short offset time is between 1 second and 10 seconds.

16. The WCD of claim 1 , wherein the processor is further configured to:

determine a severity of the detected event.

17. The WCD of claim 16 , wherein the alert onset time is determined based, at least in part, on the determined severity of the detected event.

18. The WCD of claim 1 , wherein the processor is further configured to:

detect an indeterminate event using one of an algorithm detection, performance issues, or a combination thereof.

19. The WCD of claim 1 , wherein the alert onset time is based, at least in part, on physical equipment sensing for alert conditions associated with physical equipment issues.

20. The WCD of claim 1 , wherein the alert onset time is based, at least in part, on electrical equipment sensing for alert conditions associated with electrical equipment issues.
