Abstract

A method of uplink transmission for a user equipment (UE) is disclosed. The method comprises receiving, from a base station (BS), a threshold; determining at least one uplink grant according to the threshold; performing a payload transmission on the at least one uplink grant while the UE is in an RRC inactive state; and not transmitting only padding bits for the payload transmission on the uplink grant.

Claims (18)

1. A method for uplink transmission performed by a user equipment (UE), the method comprising:

receiving, from a base station (BS), a threshold;

determining at least one uplink grant based on the threshold;

performing a payload transmission on the at least one uplink grant, while the UE is in a Radio Resource Control (RRC) inactive state; and

in the payload transmission, not transmitting only padding bits for the payload transmission on the uplink grant,

wherein the payload transmission on the at least one uplink grant uses only a redundancy version (RV) 0.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the threshold is associated with a Reference Symbol Received Power (RSRP) or a Received Signal Strength Indication (RSSI).

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein receiving the threshold from the BS comprises receiving the threshold via broadcasting system information or dedicated signaling.

4. A user equipment (UE) for uplink transmission, the UE comprising:

at least one processor; and

at least one non-transitory computer-readable medium coupled to the at least one processor and storing one or more computer-executable instructions that, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the UE to:

receive, from a base station (BS), a threshold;

determine at least one uplink grant based on the threshold;

perform a payload transmission on the at least one uplink grant while the UE is in a Radio Resource Control (RRC) inactive state; and

in the payload transmission, not transmit only padding bits for the payload transmission on the uplink grant,

wherein the payload transmission on the at least one uplink grant uses only a redundancy version (RV) 0.

5. The UE of claim 4 , wherein the threshold is associated with a Reference Symbol Received Power (RSRP) or a Received Signal Strength Indication (RSSI).

6. The UE of claim 4 , wherein receiving the threshold from the BS comprises receiving the threshold via broadcasting system information or dedicated signaling.
