Abstract

Systems and methods are disclosed for recommending query parameters to a user based on tenant information. The system can identify a token query parameter from a portion of a query entered in a user interface. The token query parameter can correspond to a system query parameter, such as a query command, a function, etc., or to a user query parameter. The system can identify a tenant of a distributed data intake and query system that is associated with the query. Based on the token query parameter, the system can identify at least one query parameter associated with the tenant. The at least one query parameter can include one or more query parameters previously entered by the user or other users of the tenant, etc. The system can cause the user interface to display one or more recommended query parameters for inclusion in the query.

Claims (41)

1. A method, comprising:

identifying a token search parameter in a search entered in a user interface;

identifying a plurality of search templates based on the identified token search parameter, wherein the plurality of search templates correspond to a plurality of previously executed searches, wherein a particular search template of the plurality of search templates includes a sequence of search commands and a plurality of search parameter placeholders, and wherein a particular search parameter placeholder of the plurality of search parameter placeholders identifies a search parameter type;

identifying, for the particular search template, a plurality of search parameters for the plurality of search parameter placeholders wherein identifying the plurality of search parameters comprises:

generating at least one search based on the token search parameter,

initiating execution of the at least one search, and

identifying a particular search parameter for the particular search parameter placeholder based on the search parameter type identified by the particular search parameter placeholder and results of the at least one search;

replacing the plurality of search parameter placeholders with the identified plurality of search parameters to form a suggested search template, wherein the particular search parameter replaces the particular search parameter placeholder; and

causing the user interface to display the suggested search template, wherein selection of the suggested search template causes the suggested search template to be inserted into the search in the user interface.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the particular search template corresponds to at least two of the plurality of previously executed searches.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the particular search template is generated from at least one previously executed search of the plurality of previously executed searches by replacing one or more user search parameters in the at least one previously executed search with one or more search parameter placeholders.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the particular search template is generated from at least one previously executed search of the plurality of previously executed searches by replacing one or more user search parameters and one or more system search parameters in the at least one previously executed search with one or more search parameter placeholders.

5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the particular search parameter placeholder of the particular search template indicates a type of search parameter to replace the particular search parameter placeholder in the particular search template.

6. The method of claim 1 , wherein each of the plurality of search parameters of the particular search template are identified based on the search parameter type of each of the plurality of search parameter placeholders of the particular search template.

7. The method of claim 1 , wherein the token search parameter is a system search parameter that causes a search system to perform a particular action.

8. The method of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of search parameters correspond to a group of search parameters parsed from one or more searches entered by one or more users associated with a tenant.

9. The method of claim 1 , further comprising displaying a plurality of suggested search templates based on a frequency of use of a plurality of searches.

10. The method of claim 1 , further comprising iteratively identifying one or more additional search templates and displaying one or more additional suggested search templates for inclusion in the search as a user enters the search in the user interface.

11. A system, comprising:

memory; and

one or more processing devices communicatively coupled to the memory and configured to:

identify a token search parameter in a search entered in a user interface;

identify a plurality of search templates based on the identified token search parameter, wherein the plurality of search templates correspond to a plurality of previously executed searches, wherein a particular search template of the plurality of search templates includes a sequence of search commands and a plurality of search parameter placeholders, and wherein a particular search parameter placeholder of the plurality of search parameter placeholders identifies a search parameter type;

identify, for the particular search template, a plurality of search parameters for the plurality of search parameter placeholders, wherein to identify a particular search parameter for the particular search parameter placeholder, the one or more processing devices are configured to:

generate at least one search based on the token search parameter,

initiate execution of the at least one search, and

identify the particular search parameter for the particular search parameter placeholder based on results of the at least one search;

replace the plurality of search parameter placeholders with the identified plurality of search parameters to form a suggested search template, wherein the particular search parameter replaces the particular search parameter placeholder; and

cause the user interface to display the suggested search template, wherein selection of the suggested search template causes the suggested search template to be inserted into the search in the user interface.

12. The system of claim 11 , wherein the particular search template is generated from at least one previously executed search of the plurality of previously executed searches by replacing one or more user search parameters and one or more system search parameters in the at least one previously executed search with one or more search parameter placeholders.

13. The system of claim 11 , wherein to identify the plurality of search parameters for the plurality of search parameter placeholders, the one or more processing devices are configured to identify the particular search parameter for the particular search parameter placeholder of the plurality of search parameter placeholders based on a type of the particular search parameter placeholder.

14. A non-transitory computer-readable media, comprising computer-executable instructions that when executed by one or more processing devices, cause the one or more processing devices to:

identify a token search parameter in a search entered in a user interface;

identify a plurality of search templates based on the identified token search parameter, wherein the plurality of search templates correspond to a plurality of previously executed searches, wherein a particular search template of the plurality of search templates includes a sequence of search commands and a plurality of search parameter placeholders, and wherein a particular search parameter placeholder of the plurality of search parameter placeholders identifies a search parameter type;

identify, for the particular search template, a plurality of search parameters for the plurality of search parameter placeholders, wherein to identify a particular search parameter for the particular search parameter placeholder, the computer-executable instructions cause the one or more processing devices to:

generate at least one search based on the token search parameter,

initiate execution of the at least one search, and

identify the particular search parameter for the particular search parameter placeholder based on the search parameter type identified by the particular search parameter placeholder and results of the at least one search;

replace the plurality of search parameter placeholders with the identified plurality of search parameters to form a suggested search template, wherein the particular search parameter replaces the particular search parameter placeholder; and

cause the user interface to display the suggested search template, wherein selection of the suggested search template causes the suggested search template to be inserted into the search in the user interface.

15. The non-transitory computer-readable media of claim 14 , wherein the particular search template is generated from at least one previously executed search of the plurality of previously executed searches by replacing one or more user search parameters and one or more system search parameters in the at least one previously executed search with one or more search parameter placeholders.
