ADHERENT CELLS FROM ADIPOSE OR PLACENTA TISSUES AND USE THEREOF IN THERAPY
A method of treating ischemia in a subject in need thereof is disclosed. The method comprising administering to the subject a therapeutically effective amount of adherent cells of a tissue selected from the group consisting of a placenta and an adipose tissue, thereby treating the ischemia in the subject. A method of treating a medical condition requiring connective tissue regeneration and/or repair is also disclosed.
. A process for producing a pharmaceutical composition comprising adherent stromal placental cells, comprising propagating adherent stromal placental cells using a two-dimensional (2D) culture followed by culture on a three-dimensional (3D) fibrous carrier, removing enzymatically said adherent stromal placental cells from said 3D carrier and introducing said adherent stromal placental cells into said pharmaceutical composition.
. The process of claim 1 , wherein said adherent stromal placental cells are capable of suppressing an immune reaction in the subject.
. The process of claim 1 , wherein at least 10% of said adherent stromal placental cells are at a proliferative phase.
. The process of claim 1 , wherein said culture on a three-dimensional (3D) fibrous carrier comprises a 3D bioreactor.
. The process of claim 1 , wherein culturing of said adherent stromal placental cells in said culture on a 3D fibrous carrier is effected under perfusion.
. The process of claim 1 , wherein said 3D fibrous carrier comprises an adherent material selected from the group consisting of a polyester and a polypropylene.
. The process of claim 1 , wherein said adherent stromal placental cells are positive for expression of a cell marker selected from the group consisting of CD73, CD90, CD29, and CD105.
. The process of claim 1 , wherein said adherent stromal placental cells are negative for expression of a cell marker selected from the group consisting of CD3, CD4, CD45, CD80, HLA-DR, CD11b, CD14, CD19, CD34, and CD79.
