Abstract

Search using data warehouse grants including determining, for a user, one or more access grants for a cloud-based data warehouse, each of the access grants comprising an object identifier of a data object accessible to the user; generating a search query comprising one or more search terms and a filter based on each of the access grants; sending the search query to a search indexing service configured to maintain an index of the cloud-based data warehouse; and receiving, in response to the search query, first search results responsive to the one or more search terms and included in a scope based on the filter.

Claims (39)

1. A method of search using data warehouse grants, the method comprising:

determining, for a user by a search module of a data access computing system, one or more access grants for a cloud-based data warehouse;

sending, by the search module to a search indexing service configured to maintain an index of the cloud-based data warehouse, a search query using the access grants and comprising one or more search terms; and

receiving, by the search module from the search indexing service in response to the search query, first search results responsive to the one or more search terms and included in a scope based on each of the access grants, wherein the scope comprises each of one or more object identifiers of the one or more access grants and an object lineage of each data object identified in the one or more access grants.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein each of the access grants comprises an object identifier of a data object accessible to the user.

3. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

identifying, by the search indexing service, from a plurality of index entries of the index, one or more index entries responsive to the one or more search terms, wherein the one or more index entries comprise an indexed object identifier; and

generating the first search results based on the identified one or more index entries.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the search query comprises the one or more search terms and, as a filter, each object identifier of the one or more access grants.

5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the first search results comprise a first pagination of search results, and the method further comprises:

requesting a second pagination of search results; and

receiving second search results comprising the second pagination of search results.

6. The method of claim 1 , further comprising updating, by the search indexing service, the index in response to an update to a data object.

7. The method of claim 6 , wherein the update comprises one or more of a modification of the data object or a relocation of the data object in an object lineage.

8. An apparatus for search using data warehouse grants, the apparatus comprising a computer processor, a computer memory operatively coupled to the computer processor, the computer memory having disposed within it computer program instructions that, when executed by the computer processor, cause the apparatus to carry out the steps of:

determining, for a user, one or more access grants for a cloud-based data warehouse;

sending, to a search indexing service configured to maintain an index of the cloud-based data warehouse, a search query using the access grants and comprising one or more search terms; and

receiving, from the search indexing service in response to the search query, first search results responsive to the one or more search terms and included in a scope based on each of the access grants, wherein the scope comprises each of one or more object identifiers of the one or more access grants and an object lineage of each data object identified in the one or more access grants.

9. The apparatus of claim 8 , wherein the steps further comprise:

identifying, by the search indexing service, from a plurality of index entries of the index, one or more index entries responsive to the one or more search terms, wherein the one or more index entries comprise an indexed object identifier; and

generating the first search results based on the identified one or more index entries.

10. The apparatus of claim 8 , wherein the search query comprises the one or more search terms and, as a filter, each object identifier of the one or more access grants.

11. The apparatus of claim 8 , wherein the first search results comprise a first pagination of search results, and the steps further comprise:

requesting a second pagination of search results; and

receiving second search results comprising the second pagination of search results.

12. The apparatus of claim 8 , wherein the steps further comprise updating, by the search indexing service, the index in response to an update to a data object.

13. The apparatus of claim 12 , wherein the update comprises one or more of a modification of the data object or a relocation of the data object in an object lineage.

14. A computer program product for search using data warehouse grants, the computer program product disposed upon a computer readable storage medium, the computer program product comprising computer program instructions that, when executed, cause a computer to carry out the steps of:

determining, for a user, one or more access grants for a cloud-based data warehouse;

sending, to a search indexing service configured to maintain an index of the cloud-based data warehouse, a search query using the access grants and comprising one or more search terms; and

receiving, from the search indexing service in response to the search query, first search results responsive to the one or more search terms and included in a scope based on each of the access grants, wherein the scope comprises each of one or more object identifiers of the one or more access grants and an object lineage of each data object identified in the one or more access grants.

15. The computer program product of claim 14 , wherein the steps further comprise:

identifying, by the search indexing service, from a plurality of index entries of the index, one or more index entries responsive to the one or more search terms, wherein the one or more index entries comprise an indexed object identifier; and

generating the first search results based on the identified one or more index entries.

16. The computer program product of claim 14 , wherein the search query comprises the one or more search terms and, as a filter, each object identifier of the one or more access grants.

17. The computer program product of claim 14 , wherein the first search results comprise a first pagination of search results, and the steps further comprise:

requesting a second pagination of search results; and

receiving second search results comprising the second pagination of search results.

18. The computer program product of claim 14 , wherein the steps further comprise updating, by the search indexing service, the index in response to an update to a data object.
