Abstract

An intubation device assembly includes an intubation device, an optical imaging device attached to the intubation device, an image display device attached to the intubation device, a first position sensor operatively connected to the image display device, a second position sensor operatively connected to the intubation device, and a force sensor operatively connected to the intubation device. A controller operates the image display device to display a video image of the optical imaging device and at least one parameter corresponding to an operation of at least one of the optical imaging device, the first position sensor, the second position sensor, and the force sensor. The controller further determines an orientation of a screen of the image display device according to an operation of the first position sensor. The controller displays the least one parameter in a position on the screen according to the orientation of the screen.

Claims (21)

1. An intubation device assembly comprising:

an intubation device;

an optical imaging device attached to the intubation device;

an image display device attached to the intubation device and including a screen;

a first position sensor operatively connected to the image display device, the first position sensor configured to detect a position of the image display device;

a second position sensor operatively connected to the intubation device, the second position sensor configured to detect an orientation of the image display device;

a force sensor operatively connected to the intubation device, the force sensor configured to measure a force applied to a patient during an intubation procedure; and

a controller configured to operate the image display device to display a video image of the optical imaging device and at least one parameter corresponding to an operation of at least one of the optical imaging device, the first position sensor, the second position sensor, and the force sensor,

wherein the controller is further configured to estimate a field of view of an operator based on the orientation of the image display device, and

wherein the controller is further configured to determine an optimal location for a data window on the screen of the image display device based on the estimated field of view of the operator.

2. The intubation device assembly according to claim 1 , wherein the controller is configured to display the at least one parameter in a position on the screen according to the orientation of the screen.

3. The intubation device assembly according to claim 2 , wherein the controller is further configured to display the at least one parameter in a position on the screen within a first field of view from a first location.

4. The intubation device assembly according to claim 3 , wherein the first field of view is 10° and focused on a second location that is located outside of the screen.

5. The intubation device assembly according to claim 3 , wherein the screen is positioned a working distance of 50 cm from the first location and the screen extends over a first field of view from the first location that is 8° and focused on the screen.

6. The intubation device assembly according to claim 1 , wherein the controller is configured to communicate with the first position sensor to determine a position of the image display device relative to the operator and the patient.

7. The intubation device assembly according to claim 1 , wherein the controller is configured to communicate with the second position sensor to determine an orientation of the image display device relative to the operator and the patient.

8. The intubation device assembly according to claim 1 , wherein the controller is configured to set the data window in a position on the screen of the image display device corresponding to the optimal location for the data window.

9. The intubation device assembly according to claim 1 , wherein the image display device includes a housing connected to a main cartridge by a connection joint.

10. The intubation device assembly according to claim 9 , wherein the screen is located on a side of the housing opposite to the connection joint.

11. The intubation device assembly according to claim 1 , wherein the intubation device comprises a laryngoscope.

12. The intubation device assembly according to claim 1 , wherein the intubation device comprises a laryngeal mask.
