Abstract

The topical cosmetic compositions and methods of the subject invention can be used to treat and/or prevent a variety of skin conditions, including, for example, age spots, acne, scars, body odor, aging-related conditions (e.g., wrinkles, looseness and dryness), and scalp issues (e.g., dandruff, seborrheic dermatitis and hair loss). In preferred embodiments, the compositions according to the subject invention comprise biological amphiphilic molecules produced by microorganisms.

Claims (6)

1 . A method for treating a skin condition, wherein the method comprises applying a topical composition to human skin having said skin condition, wherein:

said skin condition is acne; and

the topical composition comprises a broth resulting from cultivation of a Bacillus amyloliquefaciens bacterium, and further comprising a mannosylerythritol lipid and a sophorolipid, wherein the composition is applied to skin in an amount from about 0.1 to about 10 mg/cm 2 , or the composition comprises the sophorolipid in an amount of about 0.1% to 1% by weight and the mannosylerythritol lipid in an amount of about 0.5% to 2.0% by weight.

2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the topical composition further comprises resveratrol, hyaluronic acid and/or polyacrylic acid.

3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the topical composition is formulated as a liquid, cream, gel, ointment, lotion, or spray.

4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the topical composition is formulated as a cream.
