Abstract

A soybean cultivar designated 4639106 is disclosed. Embodiments include the seeds of soybean 4639106, the plants of soybean 4639106, to plant parts of soybean 4639106, and methods for producing a soybean plant produced by crossing soybean 4639106 with itself or with another soybean variety. Embodiments include methods for producing a soybean plant containing in its genetic material one or more genes or transgenes and the transgenic soybean plants and plant parts produced by those methods. Embodiments also relate to soybean cultivars, breeding cultivars, plant parts, and cells derived from soybean 4639106, methods for producing other soybean cultivars, lines or plant parts derived from soybean 4639106, and the soybean plants, varieties, and their parts derived from use of those methods. Embodiments further include hybrid soybean seeds, plants, and plant parts produced by crossing 4639106 with another soybean cultivar.

6. A soybean plant, or a part thereof, produced by growing the seed of claim 5 .

7. A method of producing a plant derived from soybean cultivar 4639106 comprising an added desired trait, wherein said desired trait is selected from male sterility, herbicide tolerance, pest tolerance, disease tolerance, modified fatty acid metabolism, modified carbohydrate metabolism, modified seed yield, modified seed oil, modified seed protein, modified lodging resistance, modified shattering, modified iron-deficiency chlorosis, modified water use efficiency, and/or combinations thereof, wherein the method comprises introducing a mutation in a nucleic acid sequence of the soybean plant, or plant part thereof, or seed of claim 1 , wherein the mutation confers the desired trait to at least one cell of soybean cultivar 4639106.

8. A method of producing a plant derived from soybean cultivar 4639106, wherein a representative sample of seed of said cultivar is deposited under NCMA No. 202406002, comprising an added desired trait, wherein the method comprises introducing at least one nucleic acid sequence conferring the desired trait to said plant.

9. A soybean plant produced by the method of claim 8 , wherein the plant comprises the desired trait and otherwise all of the morphological and physiological characteristics of soybean cultivar 4639106.

10. The soybean plant of claim 9 , wherein the desired trait is selected from the group comprising male sterility, herbicide tolerance, pest tolerance, disease tolerance, modified fatty acid metabolism, modified carbohydrate metabolism, modified seed yield, modified seed oil, modified seed protein, modified lodging resistance, modified shattering, modified iron-deficiency chlorosis, modified water use efficiency, and/or combinations thereof.

(a) crossing a 4639106 plant, wherein a sample of seed is deposited under NCMA No. 202406002, with a plant of another soybean cultivar having a desired trait to produce progeny plants;

(b) selecting one or more progeny plants that have the desired trait to produce selected progeny plants;

(c) crossing the selected progeny plants with the 4639106 plant to produce backcross progeny plants;

(d) selecting for backcross progeny plants that have the desired trait; and

(e) repeating steps (c) and (d) a sufficient number of times in succession to produce selected second or higher backcross progeny plants that comprise the desired trait and essentially all of the physiological and morphological characteristics of soybean cultivar 4639106.

14. A soybean plant produced by the method of claim 13 wherein the plant has the desired trait.

15. A method for developing a soybean plant, comprising applying plant breeding techniques to the plant of claim 1 , or plant part thereof, comprising crossing, recurrent selection, mutation breeding, wherein said mutation breeding selects for a mutation that is spontaneous or artificially induced, backcrossing, genomic selection, pedigree breeding, marker enhanced selection, haploid/double haploid production, or transformation, wherein application of said techniques results in development of a new soybean plant.

16. A method of introducing a mutation into the genome of soybean cultivar 4639106, said method comprising mutagenesis of the plant of claim 1 , or a part thereof.

17. A method of editing the genome of soybean cultivar 4639106, said method comprising editing the genome of the plant, of claim 1 , or plant part thereof, wherein said method is selected from the group comprising zinc finger nucleases, transcription activator-like effector nucleases (TALENs), engineered homing endonucleases/meganucleases, and the clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeat (CRISPR)-associated protein9 (Cas9) system.
