Abstract

A device for extending a lead according to some embodiments includes a body, a tubular member coupled to the body, the tubular member comprising an outer surface, wherein the outer surface is sized to insert into an inner lumen of a lead, the tubular member is movable between a first configuration in which the tubular member slides into the lead, and a second configuration in which at least a portion of the tubular member expands to engage an inner surface of the lead; and, an actuation mechanism operatively coupled to the tubular member, the actuation mechanism configured to move the tubular member between the first configuration and second configuration.

Claims (27)

1. A lead locking device, comprising:

a tubular member configured to engage a lead;

a first ratchet grip coupled to the tubular member; and

a second ratchet grip coupled to tubular member,

wherein the first ratchet grip and the second ratchet grip are configured to interface with one another at a rotational coupling,

wherein the rotational coupling is configured to:

permit rotation of the first ratchet grip relative to the second ratchet grip in a first direction; and

inhibit rotation of the first ratchet grip relative to the second ratchet grip in an opposite, second direction.

2. The device of claim 1 , wherein the tubular member is configured to be positioned internally relative to the first ratchet grip and the second ratchet grip.

3. The device of claim 1 , wherein the tubular member comprises a coil.

4. The device of claim 1 ,

wherein the tubular member comprises a first end and an opposite, second end,

wherein the first ratchet grip is coupled to the first end, and

wherein the second ratchet grip is coupled to the second end.

5. The device of claim 1 , wherein the rotational coupling comprises:

a first engagement feature of the first ratchet grip; and

a second engagement feature of the second ratchet grip.

6. The device of claim 5 , wherein the first engagement feature is positioned at a first end of the first ratchet grip and the second engagement feature is positioned at an opposite second end of the second ratchet grip.

7. The device of claim 5 , wherein the first engagement feature and the second engagement feature each comprise at least one of a projection or an indentation.

8. The device of claim 7 , wherein the projection comprises an undercut tooth or back-cut tooth.

9. The device of claim 1 , wherein the first ratchet grip and the second ratchet grip are biased toward one another.

10. The device of claim 1 , wherein the first ratchet grip and the second ratchet grip are not biased toward one another.

11. The device of claim 1 , wherein the rotational coupling is reversible.

12. The device of claim 11 , wherein the first ratchet grip and the second ratchet grip are configured to be pulled apart such that the tubular member is configured to release the lead.

13. The device of claim 1 , further comprising a safety cap configured to be positioned over the rotational coupling.

14. The device of claim 13 , wherein the safety cap is coupled to the first ratchet grip or the second ratchet grip.

15. The device of claim 1 , further comprising a tether coupled to the first ratchet grip or the second ratchet grip.
