Abstract

The present disclosure relates to an aerosol delivery device that includes a reservoir housing that defines a mouthpiece channel. The aerosol delivery device includes a sealing member configured to be received within the reservoir housing to define a reservoir chamber configured to retain an aerosol precursor composition therein. The aerosol delivery device also includes a substrate member that is configured to be received within the reservoir housing and to be directly engaged with a vaporizing assembly for forming an aerosol. The reservoir housing, sealing member, substrate member, and/or vaporizing assembly can be used for forming aerosols with precise and reproducible compositions.

Claims (17)

1. An aerosol delivery device comprising:

a reservoir housing having:

an outer wall that extends from a mouthend and a connecting end;

a storage portion defined within the outer wall and extending from the mouthend toward the connecting end of the outer wall, the storage portion at least partially defining a reservoir configured to store an aerosol precursor composition; and

a mouthpiece channel defined interior to the outer wall and extending from the mouthend toward the connecting end of the outer wall, the mouthpiece channel being configured for passage of vapor therethrough; and

an atomizer housing configured as a unit that is engageable with the reservoir housing so as to be at least partially disposed within the reservoir housing, the atomizer housing defining therein:

a vaporizing chamber:

a vaporizing assembly positioned in the vaporizing chamber and comprising a liquid transport element and a heating element in a heating arrangement with the liquid transport element; and

a sealing member arranged to separate the storage portion of the reservoir housing from the vaporizing chamber and configured to allow flow of the aerosol precursor composition from the storage portion of the reservoir housing into the vaporizing chamber, the sealing member including at least one vapor orifice arranged for passage of vapor from the vaporizing chamber to the mouthpiece channel.

2. The aerosol delivery device of claim 1 , further comprising a connector integrally formed with the atomizer housing.

3. The aerosol delivery device of claim 2 , wherein the connector comprises a plurality of apertures configured to receive a first electrical terminal and a second electrical terminal extending from the heater in the vaporizing chamber.

4. The aerosol delivery device of claim 3 , wherein the connector comprises a first electrical terminal tab arranged for electrical connection with the first electrical terminal and a second electrical terminal tab arranged for electrical connection with the second electrical terminal, the first electrical terminal tab and the second electrical terminal tab being operably engageable with a power source.

5. The aerosol delivery device of claim 1 , wherein the atomizer housing comprises at least one sealing element on a peripheral surface thereof.

6. The aerosol delivery device of claim 5 , wherein the at least one sealing element extends circumferentially about the peripheral surface of the atomizer housing.

7. The aerosol delivery device of claim 1 , wherein the mouthpiece channel and the outer wall of the reservoir housing are coaxial.

8. The aerosol delivery device of claim 1 , wherein the reservoir housing further includes at least one sealing member support extending along a direction parallel to a longitudinal axis of the reservoir housing and having a terminal end.

9. The aerosol delivery device of claim 1 , wherein the mouthpiece channel includes a first portion, a second portion, and a transition therebetween, the transition being configured to prevent formation of a meniscus within the mouthpiece channel.
