Method and device for performing small data transmission
A method for a UE for performing SDT is provided. The method includes receiving, from a BS, system information that includes a SIB1; determining whether to initiate an SDT procedure based on one or more conditions, the one or more conditions including the SIB1 including an SDT configuration; and initiating the SDT procedure in a case that the one or more conditions are fulfilled. A UE using the method is also provided.
1 . A method performed by a User Equipment (UE) for Small Data Transmission (SDT), the method comprising:
receiving, from a Base Station (BS), system information that includes a System Information Block 1 (SIB1);
initiating an SDT procedure in response to determining that a plurality of conditions is satisfied, the plurality of conditions comprising:
the SIB1 including an SDT configuration, and
an SDT-specific Reference Signal Received Power (RSRP) threshold being absent from the SDT configuration;
in response to initiating the SDT procedure, determining whether a serving cell for the SDT procedure is configured with a Supplementary Uplink (SUL) carrier; and
selecting a Normal Uplink (NUL) carrier as an Uplink (UL) carrier for the SDT procedure in response to determining that the serving cell is not configured with the SUL carrier.
2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the SDT-specific RSRP threshold corresponds to an Information Element (IE) denoted as sdt-RSRP-Threshold.
3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the SIB1 is determined to include the SDT configuration in a case that the SIB1 includes an Information Element (IE) denoted as sdt-ConfigCommon.
4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein initiating the SDT procedure comprises initiating the SDT procedure while the UE is operating in a Radio Resource Control (RRC) inactive state.
5 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
receiving, from the BS, a Random Access (RA) configuration that includes an RSRP threshold different from the SDT-specific RSRP threshold; and
selecting the SUL carrier as the UL carrier for the SDT procedure in response to determining that an RSRP of a downlink (DL) pathloss reference signal is less than the RSRP threshold and the serving cell is configured with the SUL carrier.
6 . The method of claim 5 , wherein the RSRP threshold is determined by an Information Element (IE) denoted as rsrp-ThresholdSSB-SUL.
7 . The method of claim 5 , wherein the RSRP threshold has a same value for all Bandwidth Parts (BWPs) of the serving cell.
8 . A User Equipment (UE) for performing Small Data Transmission (SDT), the UE comprising:
transmission and reception circuitry; and
at least one processor coupled to the transmission and reception circuitry and configured to:
receive, by the transmission and reception circuitry, from a base station (BS), system information that includes a System Information Block 1 (SIB1);
initiate an SDT procedure in response to determining that a plurality of conditions is satisfied, the plurality of conditions comprising:
the SIB1 including an SDT configuration, and
an SDT-specific Reference Signal Received Power (RSRP) threshold being absent from the SDT configuration;
in response to initiating the SDT procedure, determine whether a serving cell for the SDT procedure is configured with a Supplementary Uplink (SUL) carrier; and
select a Normal Uplink (NUL) carrier as an Uplink (UL) carrier for the SDT procedure in response to determining that the serving cell is not configured with the SUL carrier.
9 . The UE of claim 8 , wherein the SDT-specific RSRP threshold corresponds to an Information Element (IE) denoted as sdt-RSRP-Threshold.
10 . The UE of claim 8 , wherein the SIB1 is determined to include the SDT configuration in a case that the SIB1 includes an Information Element (IE) denoted as sdt-ConfigCommon.
11 . The UE of claim 8 , wherein initiating the SDT procedure comprises initiating the SDT procedure while the UE is operating in a Radio Resource Control (RRC) inactive state.
12 . The UE of claim 8 , wherein the at least one processor is further configured to:
receive, by the transmission and reception circuitry, from the BS, a Random Access (RA) configuration that includes an RSRP threshold different from the SDT-specific RSRP threshold; and
select the SUL carrier as the UL carrier for the SDT procedure in response to determining that an RSRP of a downlink (DL) pathloss reference signal is less than the RSRP threshold and the serving cell is configured with the SUL carrier.
13 . The UE of claim 12 , wherein the RSRP threshold is determined by an Information Element (IE) denoted as rsrp-ThresholdSSB-SUL.
14 . The UE of claim 12 , wherein the RSRP threshold has a same value for all Bandwidth Parts (BWPs) of the serving cell.
