Abstract

Provided are a video decoding method and a video decoding device, which, during video encoding and decoding processes, obtain most probable mode (MPM) information indicating whether to use MPMs of a current block determined based on at least two of a prediction mode of a left neighboring block adjacent to a left side of the current block, a prediction mode of an upper neighboring block adjacent to an upper side of the current block, and a right neighboring block adjacent to a right side of the current block, obtain extended intra mode set information indicating whether to use an extended intra mode set configured based on the MPMs, and determine an intra prediction mode of the current block based on the MPM information and the extended intra mode set information.

when the extended intra mode flag indicates to use one among the plurality of remaining intra prediction modes as the intra prediction mode of the current block, determining an intra prediction mode among the plurality of remaining intra prediction modes to be the intra prediction mode of the current block; and

performing intra prediction on the current block using the intra prediction mode of the current block,

wherein when an intra prediction mode of a right neighboring block of the current block is a first directional mode, the extended intra mode list includes the first directional mode, an intra prediction mode of an index increased by 1 from an index of the first directional mode, and an intra prediction mode of an index decreased by 1 from the index of the first directional mode.

2. The video decoding method of claim 1 , wherein the intra prediction mode of the left neighboring block is a DC mode and the intra prediction mode of the upper neighboring block is a second directional mode.

3. A video encoding method comprising:

generating most probable mode (MPM) flag indicating whether to use any one among a plurality of intra prediction modes included in MPMs of a current block, wherein the MPMs include an intra prediction mode of a left neighboring block of the current block and an intra prediction mode of an upper neighboring block of the current block;

when the MPM flag indicates not to use any one among the plurality of intra prediction modes included in the 1 ViPMs of the current block, generating an extended intra mode flag indicating whether to use one among a plurality of intra prediction modes included in an extended intra mode list or one among a plurality of remaining intra prediction modes as an intra prediction mode of the current block;
