Mating inserter and cannula for fusing a sacroiliac joint
An instrument set for installing a fusion implant into the sacroiliac joint. The apparatus comprises a working channel having an alignment means, an implant inserter having an inserter keying means for mating with the alignment means when the implant inserter is inserted into the working channel. The implant inserter has an insertion end with a pair of tines for releasably receiving a joint fusion implant.
1. A set of instruments for installing a fusion implant into a sacroiliac joint, the set of instruments comprising:
a working channel having a proximal end, a distal end, and an alignment means; and
an implant inserter having an inserter keying means for mating engagement with the alignment means, and an insertion end with a pair of tines for releasably receiving a joint fusion implant, each tine supported by a tine shaft which terminates at a shoulder, the tine shafts configured for flexibly retaining the joint fusion implant.
2. The set of instruments in claim 1 , wherein the proximal end of the working channel further comprises a channel collar and the implant inserter further comprises an inserter stop, the channel collar abutting the inserter stop to prevent over penetration of the insertion end of the inserter.
3. The set of instruments in claim 1 , wherein the implant inserter further comprises a channel for receiving a wire in a pass-through manner.
4. The set of instruments in claim 1 , wherein the shoulder is configured for abutting contact with the joint fusion implant.
5. The set of instruments in claim 3 , wherein the proximal end of the working channel further comprises a channel collar and the implant inserter further comprises an inserter stop, the channel collar abutting the inserter stop to prevent over penetration of the insertion end of the inserter.
6. The set of instruments in claim 4 , wherein the proximal end of the working channel further comprises a channel collar and the implant inserter further comprises an inserter stop, the channel collar abutting the inserter stop to prevent over penetration of the insertion end of the inserter.
7. The set of instruments in claim 4 , wherein the implant inserter further comprises a channel for receiving a wire in a pass-through manner.
8. The set of instruments in claim 7 , wherein the proximal end of the working channel further comprises a channel collar and the implant inserter further comprises an inserter stop, the channel collar abutting the inserter stop to prevent over penetration of the insertion end of the inserter.
