Abstract

A tag manager system provides access to a domain in a container in the tag manager system. A tag user navigates to an element in the domain (such as site pages, text elements, graphic elements, or video elements) and selects the element to validate its tag code from within the container. Based on results of the validation, the tag manager system updates the tag code corresponding to the element.

Claims (59)

1. A method of validating a tagging of a first web domain using a tag manager system hosted on a second web domain, comprising:

providing, in the second domain, a tag manager graphical user interface comprising a container and a tag validation graphical user interface;

providing access to the first web domain in the container; and

responsive to a user navigating in the container to a tagged element in the first web domain, wherein the tagged element is associated with a tag code, wherein the tag code defines an action to be taken when the browser interacts with the tagged element in the first domain:

providing, in the tag validation graphical user interface, tag validation options; and

responsive to receiving an input from the user in the tag validation graphical user interface to validate the tagged element:

activating, by the tag manager system, the tagged element in the first domain;

receiving, by the tag manager system, a result of the activating the tagged element; and

displaying the result in the tag validation graphical user interface.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein:

the browser interacting with the tagged element comprises one of the browser accessing the tagged element or the browser selecting the tagged element; and

the activating the tagged element corresponds to one of the browser accessing the tagged element or the browser selecting the tagged element.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein activating the tagged element comprises using browser developer tools.

4. The method of claim 1 , further comprising, responsive to receiving the input from the user in the tag validation graphical user interface to validate the tagged element, generating an updated tag code based on the result of the activating.

5. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

responsive to the user navigating in the container to the tagged element, providing previously selected tag definition options corresponding to the tagged element in a tag definition graphical user interface; and

responsive to displaying the result in the tag validation graphical user interface and responsive to receiving an input from the user in the tag definitions graphical user interface, generating the updated tag code.

6. The method of claim 5 , further comprising providing the tag code to the user.

7. The method of claim 5 , wherein the tag code and the updated tag code are stored in a tag location in a data store.

8. A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing processor-executable computer program instructions that, when executed, cause a computer processor to perform a method of validating a tagging of a first web domain using a tag manager system hosted on a second web domain, comprising:

providing, in the second domain, a tag manager graphical user interface comprising a container and a tag validation graphical user interface;

providing access to the first web domain in the container; and

responsive to a user navigating in the container to a tagged element in the first web domain, wherein the tagged element is associated with a tag code, wherein the tag code defines an action to be taken when the browser interacts with the tagged element in the first domain:

providing, in the tag validation graphical user interface, tag validation options; and

responsive to receiving an input from the user in the tag validation graphical user interface to validate the tagged element:

activating, by the tag manager system, the tagged element in the first domain;

receiving, by the tag manager system, a result of the activating the tagged element; and

displaying the result in the tag validation graphical user interface.

9. The medium of claim 8 , wherein:

the browser interacting with the tagged element comprises one of the browser accessing the tagged element or the browser selecting the tagged element; and

the activating the tagged element corresponds to one of the browser accessing the tagged element or the browser selecting the tagged element.

10. The medium of claim 8 , wherein activating the tagged element comprises using browser developer tools.

11. The medium of claim 8 , wherein the method further comprises, responsive to receiving the input from the user in the tag validation graphical user interface to validate the tagged element, generating an updated tag code based on the result of the activating.

12. The medium of claim 8 , wherein the method further comprises:

responsive to the user navigating in the container to the tagged element, providing previously selected tag definition options corresponding to the tagged element in a tag definition graphical user interface; and

responsive to displaying the result in the tag validation graphical user interface and responsive to receiving an input from the user in the tag definitions graphical user interface, generating the updated tag code.

13. The medium of claim 12 , wherein the method further comprises providing the tag code to the user.

14. The medium of claim 12 , wherein the tag code and the updated tag code are stored in a tag location in a data store.

15. A system comprising:

a processor; and

a non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing processor-executable computer program instructions that, when executed, cause a computer processor to perform a method of validating a tagging of a first web domain using a tag manager system hosted on a second web domain, comprising:

providing, in the second domain, a tag manager graphical user interface comprising a container and a tag validation graphical user interface;

providing access to the first web domain in the container; and

responsive to a user navigating in the container to a tagged element in the first web domain, wherein the tagged element is associated with a tag code, wherein the tag code defines an action to be taken when the browser interacts with the tagged element in the first domain:

providing, in the tag validation graphical user interface, tag validation options; and

responsive to receiving an input from the user in the tag validation graphical user interface to validate the tagged element:

activating, by the tag manager system, the tagged element in the first domain;

receiving, by the tag manager system, a result of the activating the tagged element; and

displaying the result in the tag validation graphical user interface.

16. The system of claim 15 , wherein:

the browser interacting with the tagged element comprises one of the browser accessing the tagged element or the browser selecting the tagged element; and

the activating the tagged element corresponds to one of the browser accessing the tagged element or the browser selecting the tagged element.

17. The system of claim 15 , wherein activating the tagged element comprises using browser developer tools.

18. The system of claim 15 , wherein the method further comprises, responsive to receiving the input from the user in the tag validation graphical user interface to validate the tagged element, generating an updated tag code based on the result of the activating.

19. The system of claim 15 , wherein the method further comprises:

responsive to the user navigating in the container to the tagged element, providing previously selected tag definition options corresponding to the tagged element in a tag definition graphical user interface; and

responsive to displaying the result in the tag validation graphical user interface and responsive to receiving an input from the user in the tag definitions graphical user interface, generating the updated tag code.

20. The system of claim 19 , wherein the method further comprises providing the tag code to the user.

21. The system of claim 19 , wherein the tag code and the updated tag code are stored in a tag location in a data store.
