Abstract

Provided is a slot anchor guide that includes a medial portion and a lateral portion, the medial portion includes a medial projection configured to span a slot of a fixation plate, where the slot anchor guide is configured to guide an anchor through a predetermined position of a slot of the fixation plate and to mate with the fixation plate to allow a surgeon to place the fixation plate on a bone face by manipulating the lateral portion. Also provided is a tuberosity fracture plate that includes a tuberosity end having a first portion configured to overlay a first tuberosity and a second portion opposite the first portion, a distal portion coupled with and extending away from the tuberosity portion.

Claims (21)

1. A slot anchor guide, comprising:

a medial portion and a lateral portion;

the medial portion comprising an oval shaped medial projection wherein the medial projection is configured to mate with an oval shaped slot of a fixation plate establishing an interference fit such that the fixation plate is held on the slot anchor guide and the slot anchor guide can be used to manipulate the fixation plate;

wherein the slot anchor guide is configured to guide an anchor through a predetermined position in the slot of the fixation plate and to mate with the fixation plate to allow the fixation plate to be configured to engage a bone surface by manipulating the lateral portion; and

wherein the lateral portion includes an elongate cylinder that projects between a terminal lateral end of the slot anchor guide and the medial portion and a lumen therethrough the elongate cylinder that extends from the terminal lateral end through the lateral portion to an arched opening adjacent to the medial portion.

2. The slot anchor guide of claim 1 , further comprising a handle coupled with the lateral portion, the handle extending transverse to the lateral portion to a free end.

3. The slot anchor guide of claim 1 , wherein the medial projection further comprises one or more cleats configured to extend through a thickness of the fixation plate and mate with a bone surface to hold the slot anchor guide and the fixation plate coupled therewith in position against the bone surface.

4. The slot anchor guide of claim 3 , wherein the cleats are configured as short spikes that project medially of the medial projection.

5. The slot anchor guide of claim 1 , further comprising a superior-inferior projection comprising an anchor hole, the superior-inferior projection configured to align the anchor hole with an anchor aperture of the fixation plate when the medial projection is received in the slot of the fixation plate.

6. The slot anchor guide of claim 1 , wherein inferior-superior extent of the medial projection is smaller than inferior-superior extent of the slot so that the medial projection can slip into the slot.

7. The slot anchor guide of claim 1 , wherein the lateral portion includes an elongate cylinder that projects between a terminal lateral end of the slot anchor guide and the medial portion.

8. An assembly comprising:

a slot anchor guide that comprises:

a medial portion and a lateral portion;

the medial portion comprising an oval shaped medial projection wherein the medial projection is configured to mate with an oval shaped slot of a fixation plate establishing an interference fit such that the fixation plate is held on the slot anchor guide and the slot anchor guide can be used to manipulate the fixation plate;

wherein the slot anchor guide is configured to guide an anchor through a predetermined position in the slot of the fixation plate and to mate with the fixation plate to allow the fixation plate to be configured to engage a bone surface by manipulating the lateral portion;

the fixation plate comprising an anchor aperture and the slot;

a drill sleeve comprising an elongate cylinder and a lumen disposed therethrough, the drill sleeve including threads disposed on an external surface of a medial portion thereof; and

an anchor trajectory guide that includes a guide groove located in an inferior terminal end and configured to receive a curved free end of the superior-inferior projection of the slot anchor guide so that the slot anchor guide and the anchor trajectory guide nest together when mated to the fixation plate;

wherein the slot anchor guide can be secured to the fixation plate by engaging the threads of the drill sleeve with threads of the anchor aperture through a superior-inferior projection of the slot anchor guide.

9. The assembly of claim 8 wherein the fixation plate includes a superior anchor aperture and an inferior anchor aperture, the superior and inferior anchor apertures being located equal distances from an inferior-superior center of the slot, the slot anchor guide including a projection being positionable superiorly or inferiorly relative to the fixation plate such that an anchor hole can be aligned with the superior anchor aperture or the inferior anchor aperture.
