Abstract

A method and system are provided for searching a search query having a non-character-based input. The method comprises receiving the search query comprising a first part and a second part. The first part comprises a non-character-based input. The method further comprises identifying a first plurality of keywords associated with the non-character-based input and receiving a selection of at least one of the first plurality of keywords. The method further comprises generating a modified search query comprising the at least one selected keyword and the second part. The method further comprises retrieving search results based on the modified search query and generating for presentation the search results.

Claims (32)

1. A method comprising:

generating media content for consumption on a media device;

receiving a search request via the media device;

in response to the search request, analyzing the media content to identify at least one of metadata associated with the media content, an image in the media content, an object depicted in the media content, a color depicted in the media content, a shape depicted in the media content, or a location depicted in the media content, wherein the search request is modified with the at least one of the metadata associated with the media content, the image in the media content, the object depicted in the media content, the color depicted in the media content, the shape depicted in the media content, or the location depicted in the media content;

generating for presentation a selectable option corresponding to the at least one of the metadata associated with the media content, the image in the media content, the object depicted in the media content, the color depicted in the media content, the shape depicted in the media content, or the location depicted in the media content;

receiving a selection of the selectable option corresponding to the at least one of the metadata associated with the media content, the image in the media content, the object depicted in the media content, the color depicted in the media content, the shape depicted in the media content, or the location depicted in the media content;

in response to receiving the selection, retrieving search results based on the selection; and

generating for presentation the search results.

The method of claim 1 , wherein at least two of the metadata associated with the media content, the image in the media content, the object depicted in the media content, the color depicted in the media content, the shape depicted in the media content, or the location depicted in the media content are identified.

The method of claim 1 , wherein each of the metadata associated with the media content, the image in the media content, the object depicted in the media content, the color depicted in the media content, the shape depicted in the media content, and the location depicted in the media content are identified.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the search request includes a voice or text input.

5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the generating for presentation the selectable option includes ranking a plurality of selectable options and displaying the plurality of selectable options based on the ranking.

The method of claim 5 , wherein the ranking is based on a weighting of an association between the at least one of the metadata associated with the media content, the image in the media content, the object depicted in the media content, the color depicted in the media content, the shape depicted in the media content, or the location depicted in the media content, and at least another one of the metadata associated with the media content, the image in the media content, the object depicted in the media content, the color depicted in the media content, the shape depicted in the media content, or the location depicted in the media content.

The method of claim 5 , wherein the ranking is based on a relevance of the at least one of the metadata associated with the media content, the image in the media content, the object depicted in the media content, the color depicted in the media content, the shape depicted in the media content, or the location depicted in the media content, and at least another one of the metadata associated with the media content, the image in the media content, the object depicted in the media content, the color depicted in the media content, the shape depicted in the media content, or the location depicted in the media content.

The method of claim 1 , comprising generating a data structure based on at least two of the metadata associated with the media content, the image in the media content, the object depicted in the media content, the color depicted in the media content, the shape depicted in the media content, or the location depicted in the media content, and wherein the generating for presentation the selectable option is based on the data structure.

9. The method of claim 1 , wherein the search results are based on the selection and include results similar to the selection.

10. A system comprising: circuitry configured to:

generate media content for consumption on a media device;

receive a search request via the media device;

in response to the search request, analyze the media content to identify at least one of metadata associated with the media content, an image in the media content, an object depicted in the media content, a color depicted in the media content, a shape depicted in the media content, or a location depicted in the media content, wherein the search request is modified with the at least one of the metadata associated with the media content, the image in the media content, the object depicted in the media content, the color depicted in the media content, the shape depicted in the media content, or the location depicted in the media content;

generate for presentation a selectable option corresponding to the at least one of the metadata associated with the media content, the image in the media content, the object depicted in the media content, the color depicted in the media content, the shape depicted in the media content, or the location depicted in the media content;

receive a selection of the selectable option corresponding to the at least one of the metadata associated with the media content, the image in the media content, the object depicted in the media content, the color depicted in the media content, the shape depicted in the media content, or the location depicted in the media content;

in response to receiving the selection, retrieve search results based on the selection; and

generate for presentation the search results.

The system of claim 10 , wherein at least two of the metadata associated with the media content, the image in the media content, the object depicted in the media content, the color depicted in the media content, the shape depicted in the media content, or the location depicted in the media content are identified.

The system of claim 10 , wherein each of the metadata associated with the media content, the image in the media content, the object depicted in the media content, the color depicted in the media content, the shape depicted in the media content, and the location depicted in the media content are identified.

13. The system of claim 10 , wherein the search request includes a voice or text input.

14. The system of claim 10 , wherein the generating for presentation the selectable option includes ranking a plurality of selectable options and displaying the plurality of selectable options based on the ranking.

The system of claim 14 , wherein the ranking is based on a weighting of an association between the at least one of the metadata associated with the media content, the image in the media content, the object depicted in the media content, the color depicted in the media content, the shape depicted in the media content, or the location depicted in the media content, and at least another one of the metadata associated with the media content, the image in the media content, the object depicted in the media content, the color depicted in the media content, the shape depicted in the media content, or the location depicted in the media content.

The system of claim 14 , wherein the ranking is based on a relevance of the at least one of the metadata associated with the media content, the image in the media content, the object depicted in the media content, the color depicted in the media content, the shape depicted in the media content, or the location depicted in the media content, and at least another one of the metadata associated with the media content, the image in the media content, the object depicted in the media content, the color depicted in the media content, the shape depicted in the media content, or the location depicted in the media content.

The system of claim 10 , wherein the circuitry is configured to generate a data structure based on at least two of the metadata associated with the media content, the image in the media content, the object depicted in the media content, the color depicted in the media content, the shape depicted in the media content, or the location depicted in the media content, and wherein the generating for presentation the selectable option is based on the data structure.

18. The system of claim 10 , wherein the search results are based on the selection and include results similar to the selection.
