Abstract

Various arrangements for performing cellular network testing are presented herein. A test environment can be created for a production cellular network. A test can be defined for the cellular network within the testing environment then performed. An issue can be logged using a ticket logging system that indicates that a performance metric of the cellular network within the test environment was not met. The issue and the test environment are analyzed to identify a component responsible for the performance metric not being met. Access to a record defining the issue is provided to an external entity that is mapped to the component. The cellular network as implemented in the test environment can then be modified.

Claims (46)

1. A method for performing cellular network testing, the method comprising:

creating a test environment of a production cellular network, wherein the cellular network is a hybrid cellular network at least partially implemented on a cloud-computing platform and the test environment is defined on the cloud-computing platform;

defining a test for the cellular network within the testing environment;

performing the test within the test environment on the cloud-computing platform;

logging an issue as an electronic ticket using a ticket logging system that indicates that a performance metric of the cellular network within the test environment was not met;

analyzing the electronic ticket and the test environment to identify a component responsible for the performance metric not being met;

providing access to the electronic ticket to an external entity that is mapped to the component; and

modifying the cellular network as implemented in the test environment based on the electronic ticket.

2. The method for performing cellular network testing of claim 1 , further comprising:

correlating a plurality of electronic tickets, comprising the electronic ticket, present in the ticket logging system; and

creating an aggregated electronic ticket based on the correlation of the plurality of electronic tickets.

3. The method for performing cellular network testing of claim 2 , wherein the aggregated electronic ticket indicates a range of parameters that resulted in the performance metric not being met.

4. The method for performing cellular network testing of claim 2 , wherein correlating the plurality of electronic tickets is performed using a trained machine learning model.

5. The method for performing cellular network testing of claim 1 , further comprising capturing an image of the production cellular network for use in creating the test environment.

6. The method for performing cellular network testing of claim 1 , wherein the test environment comprises a diverted-traffic test slice from the production cellular network.

7. The method for performing cellular network testing of claim 1 , wherein testing is performed while the production cellular network is operating.

8. The method for performing cellular network testing of claim 1 , wherein the defined test comprises chaos being injected on a layer within the test environment.

9. The method for performing cellular network testing of claim 1 , wherein the cloud-computing platform is operated by a third-party.

10. The method for performing cellular network testing of claim 1 , wherein the production cellular network is a 5G New Radio (NR) cellular network.

11. A system for performing cellular network testing, the system comprising:

a hybrid cellular network wherein the hybrid cellular network at least partially implemented on a cloud-computing platform;

a test management system at least partially executed on the cloud-computing platform, the test management system configured to:

define a test for the cellular network within a testing environment;

perform the test within the test environment on the cloud-computing platform; and

log an issue as an electronic ticket using a ticket logging system that indicates that a performance metric of the cellular network within the test environment was not met; and

a correlation engine, configured to:

analyze the electronic ticket and the test environment to identify a component responsible for the performance metric not being met; and

provide access to the electronic ticket to an external entity that is mapped to the component.

12. The system for performing cellular network testing of claim 11 , wherein the test management system is further configured to modify the hybrid cellular network as implemented in the test environment based on the electronic ticket.

13. The system for performing cellular network testing of claim 11 , wherein the correlation engine is further configured to:

correlate a plurality of electronic tickets, comprising the electronic ticket, present in the ticket logging system; and

create an aggregated electronic ticket based on the correlation of the plurality of electronic tickets.

14. The system for performing cellular network testing of claim 13 , wherein the aggregated electronic ticket indicates a range of parameters that resulted in the performance metric not being met.

15. The system for performing cellular network testing of claim 13 , wherein correlating the plurality of electronic tickets is performed using a trained machine learning model.

16. The system for performing cellular network testing of claim 11 , further comprising a system monitor configured to capture an image of the hybrid cellular network for use in creating the test environment.

17. The system for performing cellular network testing of claim 11 , wherein the test environment comprises a diverted-traffic test slice of the hybrid cellular network.

18. The system for performing cellular network testing of claim 11 , wherein the defined test comprises chaos being injected on a layer within the test environment.

19. A non-transitory processor-readable medium for performing cellular network testing, comprising processor-readable instructions configured to cause one or more processors to:

create a test environment of a production cellular network, wherein the cellular network is a hybrid cellular network at least partially implemented on a cloud-computing platform and the test environment is defined on the cloud-computing platform;

define a test for a cellular network within the testing environment;

perform the test within the test environment on the cloud-computing platform;

log an issue as an electronic ticket using a ticket logging system that indicates that a performance metric of the cellular network within the test environment was not met;
