Abstract

Methods, systems, and devices are described for fountain hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) for reliable low latency communication. A wireless device may transmit a data block based on a low latency operational mode. The device may then transmit a number of redundancy versions of the data block prior to determining whether an acknowledgement (ACK) has been received. In some examples the ACK may be an augmented ACK, which may be based on the number of redundancy versions received prior to successfully decoding the data block, and which may include an additional resource request. In some examples, the device may select an updated modulation and coding scheme (MCS) based on the augmented ACK. In some examples, the device may increase a number of frequency resources (e.g., component carriers) used for transmission based on the augmented ACK.

Claims (15)

1 . A method of wireless communication comprising:

transmitting a redundancy version or versions of a data block on a first carrier;

receiving a transmission, the transmission comprising a request for bandwidth; and

responsive to the transmission,

transmitting a second redundancy version or versions of the data block on a second carrier.

2 . An apparatus for wireless communication comprising:

a memory;

a processor coupled to the memory and configured to:

receive a redundancy version or versions of the data block;

transmit a transmission, the transmission comprising a request for bandwidth; and

responsive to transmitting the transmission,

cease receiving the redundancy version or versions of the data block.

3 . The apparatus of claim 2 , further comprising:

responsive to transmitting the transmission, receive a second transmission on a bandwidth based on the request for bandwidth.

4 . The apparatus of claim 3 , the second transmission comprising a second redundant version or versions of the data block.
