Abstract

In one aspect, build materials and support materials for use with a 3D printer are described herein. Such materials include a phosphor component in combination with other components. In some embodiments, the phosphor component of a build material or support material is present in the material in an amount of 0.001-0.5 wt. % and has a peak photoluminescence (PL) emission wavelength of 430-750 nm and a photoluminescence quantum yield (QY) of 0.10-1.

Claims (16)

1. A support material for three-dimensional printing, the support material comprising:

50-80 wt. % phase change wax component, the phase change wax component comprises a hydrocarbon wax, a fatty alcohol wax, a fatty acid wax, a fatty acid ester wax, an aldehyde wax, an amide wax, a ketone wax, or a mixture or combination thereof;

5-50 wt. % tackifier component, the tackifier component comprises a rosin ester, a rosin alcohol, or a mixture or combination thereof; and

0.001-5 wt. % phosphor component, based on the total weight of the support material, the phosphor component has a peak photoluminescence emission wavelength of 430-750 nm, and the phosphor component has a photoluminescence quantum yield of 0.10-1.

2. The support material of claim 1 , wherein the phase change wax component comprises a hydrocarbon wax, a fatty alcohol wax, a fatty acid wax, a fatty acid ester wax, an aldehyde wax, an amide wax, a ketone wax, or a mixture or combination thereof.

3. The support material of claim 1 , wherein the phase change wax component is present in the support material in an amount of 60-75 wt. %, based on the total weight of the support material.

4. The support material of claim 1 , wherein the tackifier component comprises a rosin ester, a rosin alcohol, or a mixture or combination thereof.

5. The support material of claim 1 , wherein the tackifier component is present in the support material in an amount of 25-45 wt. %, based on the total weight of the support material.

6. The support material of claim 1 , wherein the phosphor component has a peak photoluminescence emission wavelength of 430-750 nm.

7. The support material of claim 1 , wherein the phosphor component has a photoluminescence quantum yield of 0.10-1.

8. The support material of claim 1 , wherein the phosphor component has a peak photoluminescence emission wavelength of 500-700 nm and a photoluminescence quantum yield of 0.30-1.

9. The support material of claim 1 , wherein the phosphor component is present in the support material in an amount of 0.001-0.5 wt. %, based on the total weight of the support material.

10. A composition comprising:

a three-dimensionally printed article formed partially from the support material of claim 1 .

11. A composition comprising:

a three-dimensionally printed article formed from a build material and from the support material of claim 1 .
