Abstract

To receive data in data field of a PHY Protocol Data Unit (PPDU), wherein the data field includes mid-ambles, a number of mid-ambles and a number of data symbols included in the data field is determined. The number of mid-ambles is determined according to information in an HE-SIG-A field of the PPDU, information in an L-SIG field of the PPDU, and one or more predetermined values prescribed by a standard. The number of data symbols may be determined using the number of the mid-ambles, and the data received according to the number of mid-ambles and the number of data symbols.

Claims (32)

1. A method comprising:

in response to a Physical layer Protocol Data Unit (PPDU) format being determined to be a High Efficiency (HE) Single User (SU) format or an HE SU Extended Range (ER) format, setting a value of a midamble periodicity according to a Modulation and Coding Scheme (MCS) of the PPDU;

in response to the PPDU format being determined to be an HE Trigger-Based (TB) format, setting the value of the midamble periodicity without regard to any MCS value;

in response to the PPDU format being determined to be an HE Down-Link (DL) Multi-User (MU) format, setting the midamble periodicity according to a highest MCS of all stations (STAs) corresponding to the PPDU; and

transmitting or receiving a data field of the PPDU according to the midamble periodicity.

2. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

in response to the PPDU format being determined to be a single user HE Up-Link (UL) MU format, setting the midamble periodicity according to the MCS of the PPDU.

3. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

in response to the PPDU format being determined to be an HE Up-Link (UL) MU format, setting the midamble periodicity according to the highest MCS of all the STAs corresponding to the PPDU.

4. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

in response to the PPDU format being determined to be an HE Down-Link (DL) Multi-User (MU) format or an HE Up-Link (UL) MU format, setting the value of the midamble periodicity to a predetermined value.

5. A method comprising:

in response to a Physical layer Protocol Data Unit (PPDU) format being determined to be a first format, setting a midamble periodicity according to a Modulation and Coding Scheme (MCS) of the PPDU;

in response to the PPDU format being determined to be a second format, setting the midamble periodicity according to a highest MCS of all stations transmitting on the PPDU or receiving the PPDU;

in response to the PPDU format being determined to be a third format, setting the midamble periodicity to a predetermined value, and

in response to the PPDU format being determined to be a fourth format, setting the midamble periodicity to a value indicated in a soliciting frame that solicited transmission of the PPDU; and

transmitting or receiving a data field of the PPDU according to the midamble periodicity.

6. The method of claim 5 , wherein the first format is a High Efficiency (HE) Single User (SU) format or an HE SU Extended Range (ER) format.

7. The method of claim 5 , wherein the second format is a High Efficiency (HE) Down-Link (DL) Multi-User (MU) format corresponding to a plurality of stations.

8. The method of claim 5 , wherein the third format is a High Efficiency (HE) Multi-User (MU) format or an HE Trigger-Based (TB) format.

9. The method of claim 5 , wherein the fourth format is a High Efficiency (HE) Trigger-Based (TB) format.

10. A non-transitory Computer Readable Media (CRM) comprising programming instructions which, when executed by a device that includes a transmitter, a receiver, or both, cause the device to perform steps comprising:

in response to a Physical layer Protocol Data Unit (PPDU) format being determined to be a High Efficiency (HE) Single User (SU) format or an HE SU Extended Range (ER) format, setting a value of a midamble periodicity according to a Modulation and Coding Scheme (MCS) of the PPDU;

in response to the PPDU format being determined to be an HE Trigger-Based (TB) format, setting the value of the midamble periodicity without regard to any MCS value;

in response to the PPDU format being determined to be an HE Down-Link (DL) Multi-User (MU) format, setting the midamble periodicity according to a highest MCS of all stations (STAs) corresponding to the PPDU; and

transmitting or receiving a data field of the PPDU according to the midamble periodicity.

11. The method of claim 10 , the steps further comprising:

in response to the PPDU format being determined to be a single user HE Up-Link (UL) MU format, setting the midamble periodicity according to the MCS of the PPDU.

12. The method of claim 10 , the steps further comprising:

in response to the PPDU format being determined to be an HE Up-Link (UL) MU format, setting the midamble periodicity according to the highest MCS of all the STAs corresponding to the PPDU.

13. The method of claim 10 , the steps further comprising:

in response to the PPDU format being determined to be an HE Down-Link (DL) Multi-User (MU) format or an HE Up-Link (UL) MU format, setting the value of the midamble periodicity to a predetermined value.
