USER EQUIPMENT AND METHOD FOR SMALL DATA TRANSMISSION PROCEDURE
A method and a user equipment (UE) for performing a Small Data Transmission (SDT) procedure are provided. The method includes transmitting, to a Base Station (BS), a Radio Resource Control (RRC) resume request message when initiating the SDT procedure; starting a timer upon transmitting the RRC resume request message; and transmitting, to the BS, UE assistance information to provide a non-SDT data indication when the timer is running.
1 . A method performed by a User Equipment (UE) for a Small Data Transmission (SDT) procedure, the method comprising:
transmitting, to a Base Station (BS), a Radio Resource Control (RRC) resume request message when initiating the SDT procedure;
starting a timer upon transmitting the RRC resume request message; and
transmitting, to the BS, UE assistance information to provide a non-SDT data indication when the timer is running.
2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the timer is a T319a timer.
3 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
stopping the timer upon reception of an RRC resume message.
4 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
stopping the timer upon reception of an RRC setup message.
5 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
stopping the timer upon reception of an RRC reject message.
6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the UE assistance information is included in a UL-DCCH-MessageType Information Element (IE).
7 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the non-SDT data indication is included in the UE assistance information.
8 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the SDT procedure is initiated, by the UE, when the UE is in an RRC_INACTIVE state.
9 . A User Equipment (UE) in a wireless communication system for performing a Small Data Transmission (SDT) procedure, the UE comprising:
at least one processor; and
at least one memory coupled to the at least one processor, wherein the at least one memory stores a computer-executable program that, when executed by the at least one processor, causes the UE to:
transmit, to a Base Station (BS), a Radio Resource Control (RRC) resume request message when initiating the SDT procedure;
start a timer upon transmitting the RRC resume request message; and
transmit, to the BS, UE assistance information to provide a non-SDT data indication when the timer is running.
10 . The UE of claim 9 , wherein the timer is a T319a timer.
11 . The UE of claim 9 , wherein the computer-executable program, when executed by the at least one processor, further causes the UE to:
stop the timer upon reception of an RRC resume message.
12 . The UE of claim 9 , wherein the computer-executable program, when executed by the at least one processor, further causes the UE to:
stop the timer upon reception of an RRC setup message.
13 . The UE of claim 9 , wherein the computer-executable program, when executed by the at least one processor, further causes the UE to:
stop the timer upon reception of an RRC reject message.
14 . The UE of claim 9 , wherein the UE assistance information is included in a UL-DCCH-MessageType Information Element (IE).
15 . The UE of claim 9 , wherein the non-SDT data indication is included in the UE assistance information.
16 . The UE of claim 9 , wherein the SDT procedure is initiated, by the UE, when the UE is in an RRC_INACTIVE state.
