Abstract

Methods, systems, and devices for operating a wearable device are described. The wearable device may include a flexible inner body in the form of an open-ended ring that includes a first end that is movable relative to a second end such that an inner circumference of the inner body is expandable. The wearable device may include a flexible circuit board disposed concentrically around an outer circumference of the inner body and in the form of an open-ended ring. And the wearable device may include a flexible outer clip disposed concentrically around the flexible circuit board and in the form of an open-ended ring. The outer clip may be configured to provide a compressive force on the flexible circuit board and the outer circumference of the inner body.

Claims (33)

1. A wearable ring device, comprising:

a flexible inner body in the form of a first open-ended ring comprising a first end that is movable relative to a second end such that an inner circumference of the flexible inner body is expandable;

a flexible circuit board disposed concentrically around an outer circumference of the flexible inner body and in the form of a second open-ended ring; and

a flexible outer clip disposed concentrically around the flexible circuit board and in the form of a third open-ended ring, the flexible outer clip configured to provide a compressive force on the flexible circuit board and the outer circumference of the flexible inner body, wherein a first opening of the first open-ended ring is radially offset from a second opening of the third open-ended ring.

2. The wearable ring device of claim 1 , wherein the flexible circuit board comprises a first end that is moveable relative to a second end of the flexible circuit board such that an inner circumference of the flexible circuit board is expandable.

3. The wearable ring device of claim 2 , wherein the first end of the flexible circuit board aligns radially with the first end of the flexible inner body, and wherein the second end of the flexible circuit board aligns radially with the second end of the flexible inner body.

4. The wearable ring device of claim 1 , wherein the flexible outer clip comprises a first end that is moveable relative to a second end of the flexible outer clip such that an inner circumference of the flexible outer clip is expandable.

5. The wearable ring device of claim 1 , further comprising:

a battery disposed between the flexible outer clip and the flexible circuit board, wherein the flexible outer clip is configured to provide the compressive force on the battery.

6. The wearable ring device of claim 5 , wherein the battery comprises a first end that aligns radially with the first end of the flexible inner body and a second end that is radially offset from the second end of the flexible inner body.

7. The wearable ring device of claim 5 , wherein the battery is detachably coupled with the wearable ring device such that the battery can be removed and re-inserted without compromising the functionality of the wearable ring device.

8. The wearable ring device of claim 5 , wherein the battery comprises one or more electrical contacts that connect with one or more electrical contacts of the flexible circuit board when the battery is detachably coupled with the wearable ring device.

9. The wearable ring device of claim 8 , wherein the one or more electrical contacts of the battery comprise one or more magnets.

10. The wearable ring device of claim 5 , wherein the battery comprises a first recessed area configured to receive a first end of the flexible outer clip and a second recessed area configured to receive a second end of the flexible outer clip.

11. The wearable ring device of claim 1 , further comprising:

a light-emitting component coupled with the flexible circuit board, wherein the flexible inner body comprises a transparent material such that light from the light-emitting component passes through the flexible inner body.

12. The wearable ring device of claim 11 , wherein the flexible inner body comprises an opaque material with a section of the transparent material disposed over the light-emitting component.

13. The wearable ring device of claim 1 , wherein the flexible inner body comprises outer rails between which the flexible circuit board is disposed.

14. The wearable ring device of claim 1 , wherein the flexible inner body comprises a polymer material or a plastic material and the flexible outer clip comprises a metal material.

15. The wearable ring device of claim 1 , wherein the first end and the second end of the flexible inner body are separated by a gap when the wearable ring device is in a relaxed state.

16. The wearable ring device of claim 1 , wherein the first end and the second end of the flexible inner body in contact when the wearable ring device is in a relaxed state.

17. The wearable ring device of claim 1 , wherein the first end of the flexible inner body overlaps radially with the second end of the flexible inner body.

18. The wearable ring device of claim 1 , wherein the form of the first open-ended ring of the flexible inner body comprises a spiral.

19. A wearable ring device, comprising:

a flexible inner body in the form of an open-ended ring comprising a first end that is movable relative to a second end such that an inner circumference of the flexible inner body is expandable;

a flexible circuit board disposed concentrically around an outer circumference of the flexible inner body and in the form of an open-ended ring;

a battery disposed between a flexible outer clip and the flexible circuit board, wherein the battery comprises one or more electrical contacts that connect with one or more electrical contacts of the flexible circuit board when the battery is detachably coupled with the wearable ring device; and

the flexible outer clip disposed concentrically around the flexible circuit board and in the form of an open-ended ring, the flexible outer clip configured to provide a compressive force on the flexible circuit board and the outer circumference of the flexible inner body.

20. A wearable ring device, comprising:

a flexible inner body in the form of an open-ended ring comprising a first end that is movable relative to a second end such that an inner circumference of the flexible inner body is expandable;

a flexible circuit board disposed concentrically around an outer circumference of the flexible inner body and in the form of an open-ended ring;

a light-emitting component coupled with the flexible circuit board, wherein at least a portion of the flexible inner body comprises a transparent material such that light from the light-emitting component passes through the at least portion of the flexible inner body; and

a flexible outer clip disposed concentrically around the flexible circuit board and in the form of an open-ended ring, the flexible outer clip configured to provide a compressive force on the flexible circuit board and the outer circumference of the flexible inner body.
