Abstract

A workstation having a pair of posts on either side of a clamping plate where a donor bone may be placed on sequentially cut in three separate cutting paths. Cutting gates are attached to the posts and used to provide cutting paths that can be precisely oriented with respect to the meniscus of the donor bone part using visual alignment without any manual measurements. The graft is affixed to a machining clamp and shaved to appropriately shape the sides and form a radius on the bottom of the graft. A tibia is then prepared by using a drill guide to form a pilot hole and then to drill out a large hole for the graft. The drilled hole is expanded and shaped using a rod guide and chisel and then a rasp. The shaped graft may then be implanted into the shaped hole and sutured in place.

Claims (6)

1. A drill guide for a meniscal transplant, comprising:

a main body including first and second independent throughbores extending therethrough, wherein the first and second independent throughbores are separated from each other by a wall of the main body, and the second throughbore is coaxial with a central longitudinal axis of the main body, while the first throughbore is offset from the central longitudinal axis of the main body and extends alongside of the second throughbore;

an adjustable hook beam extending through the first throughbore of the main body at a distance from the second throughbore, said adjustable hook beam comprises a curved end having a portion extending substantially perpendicular to the adjustable hook beam and external threads on the adjustable hook beam;

an adjustment wheel including an internally threaded throughbore, said adjustment wheel is positioned around the main body and around the adjustable hook beam such that the throughbore of the adjustment wheel is coaxial with the central longitudinal axis of the main body and the internal threads interconnected to the external threads on the adjustable hook beam; and

the main body comprises a gripping member;

wherein rotation of the adjustment wheel relative to the main body extends and retracts the adjustable hook beam through the first throughbore relative to the main body.
