Abstract

A system interconnects multiple client devices over a network. A local group of the client devices is located at a live event and a remote group is located remote from the live event. Each client device of the local group is a potential source of a live stream which, when rendered by another client device, causes display of a vantage point of the live event. The system dynamically updates a subscription list to include an indication of any client device of the local group that is actively live streaming and remove an indication of any client device of the local group that terminated live streaming. The system can enable selective access to any live streams of any client device of the updated subscription list and disable access to any live streams of any client device removed from the updated subscription list.

Claims (69)

1. A server computer system comprising:

a processor; and

a memory including instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the server computer system to:

interconnect multiple client devices over a network,

wherein a local group of the multiple client devices is located at a live event and a remote group of the multiple client devices is located remote from the live event, and

wherein each client device of the local group is a potential source of a live stream which, when rendered by another client device, causes display of a vantage point of the live event;

dynamically update a subscription list of live streams for a subscription service to:

enable selective access to live streams of client devices of the local group added to the updated subscription list of live streams; and

disable access to live streams of client devices of the local group removed from the updated subscription list of live streams,

wherein the updated subscription list of live streams indicates a frequency that client devices have live streamed a particular type of live event.

2. The system of claim 1 further caused to:

receive a query for a particular vantage point of the live event; and

search the subscription list of live streams for any client device that satisfies the query.

3. The system of claim 1 further caused to:

enable a first client device of the local group to render a first vantage point captured by a

second client device of the local group,

wherein the second client device is selected from the updated subscription list of live streams.

4. The system of claim 1 further caused to:

enable a first client device of the local group to live stream a first vantage point while rendering a second vantage point captured by a second client device of the local group.

5. The system of claim 1 further caused to:

enable a first client device of the remote group to display a first vantage point of the live event captured by a second client device of the local group.

6. The system of claim 1 further caused to:

enable two client devices to simultaneously render a common live stream,

wherein the two devices are of the local group, and

wherein a source of the common live stream is selected from the updated subscription list of live streams.

7. The system of claim 1 further caused to:

receive, from a particular client device, an indication of a selection of a particular vantage point;

search the updated subscription list of live streams for a client device having the particular vantage point; and

provide, to the particular client device, a live stream of the particular vantage point.

8. The system of claim 1 , wherein client devices of the local group include a handheld mobile device and a stationary positioned at a fixed location.

9. A method comprising:

interconnecting multiple client devices over a network,

wherein a local group of the multiple client devices is located at a live event and a remote group of the multiple client devices, and

wherein each client device of the local group is a potential source of a live stream which, when rendered by another client device, causes a display of a vantage point of the live event;

dynamically updating a subscription list of live streams for a subscription service to:

enable selective access to live streams of client devices of the local group added to the updated subscription list of live streams;

disable access to live streams of client devices of the local group removed from the updated subscription list of live streams; and

add an indication of the client device removed from the updated subscription list of live streams to another subscription list of live streams.

10. The method of claim 9 , wherein the other subscription list of live streams includes indications of client devices that were prior sources of live streams.

11. The method of claim 9 further comprising:

hosting virtual interactions between client devices of the local group and the remote group.

12. The method of claim 9 further comprising:

hosting a virtual interaction between two client devices of the local group.

13. The method of claim 9 further comprising:

enabling selective switching between displaying different vantage points of the live event.

14. The method of claim 9 further comprising:

receiving, from a particular client device, an indication to change subscriptions between different live streams of different client devices;

unsubscribing the particular client device from a first live stream; and

subscribing the particular client device to a second live stream.

15. At least one computer-readable storage medium, excluding transitory signals and carrying instructions, which, when executed by at least one data processor of a system, cause the system to:

interconnect multiple client devices over a network,

wherein a local group of the multiple client devices is located at a live event and a remote group of the multiple client devices is located remote from the live event, and

wherein each client device of the local group is a potential source of a live stream which, when rendered by another client device, causes a display of a vantage point of the live event;

dynamically update a subscription list of live streams for a subscription service to:

enable selective access to live streams of client devices of the local group added to the updated subscription list of live streams;

disable access to live streams of client devices of the local group removed from the updated subscription list of live streams; and

add an indication of the client device removed from the updated subscription list of live streams to another subscription list of live streams.

16. The computer-readable storage medium of claim 15 , wherein the system is caused to:

detect activation of a first live stream from a first client device;

enable a second client device to subscribe to the first live stream; and

update a profile of the second client device to reflect the subscription to the first live stream.

17. The computer-readable storage medium of claim 15 , wherein the system is caused to:

augment a live stream with augmented reality (AR) content that, when rendered by a particular client device, causes display of a particular vantage point with the AR content.

18. The computer-readable storage medium of claim 15 , wherein the system is caused to:

synchronize multiple live streams relative to a point in time,

wherein the subscription list of live streams includes client devices having synchronized live streams and precludes client devices with unsynchronized live streams.

19. The computer-readable storage medium of claim 15 , wherein the system is caused to:

receive, from a particular client device, an indication of selection of augmented reality (AR) content; and

in response to the indication of the selection of the AR content, superimpose a particular vantage point rendered at the particular client device, with the AR content.
