Abstract

Among other things, an equipment for use on board a first ground transportation entity has (a) a receiver for information generated by a sensor of the environment of the first ground transportation entity, (b) a processor, and (c) a memory storing instructions executable by the processor to generate and send safety message information to a second ground transportation entity based on the information generated by the sensor.

Claims (17)

1. An apparatus comprising:

an equipment on board a first ground transportation entity, the equipment having

(a) a receiver for information generated by a sensor of an environment of the first ground transportation entity;

(b) at least one processor; and

(c) a memory storing instructions executable by the at least one processor to perform operations comprising:

based at least on the information generated by the sensor, detecting a second ground transportation entity in a vicinity of the first ground transportation entity;

based on detecting the second ground transportation entity, generating (i) a prediction of a future change in motion of the first ground transportation entity, and (ii) a prediction of a future time at which the predicted future change in motion will occur;

generating a safety message, the safety message comprising the prediction of the future change in motion and the prediction of the future time; and

sending the safety message to a third ground transportation entity.

2. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein generating the prediction of the future change in motion and the prediction of the future time comprises applying an artificial intelligence model trained to predict operator behavior.

3. The apparatus of claim 2 , wherein the artificial intelligence model is trained on an operator of the first ground transportation entity.

4. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the future change in motion comprises braking.

5. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the prediction of the future change in motion comprises that the future change in motion will be initiated by an operator of the first ground transportation entity.

6. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the safety message comprises a basic safety message.

7. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the third ground transportation entity is following the first ground transportation entity and a view of the second ground transportation entity from the third ground transportation entity is occluded.

8. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the safety message comprises motion parameters of the second ground transportation entity.

9. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the second ground transportation entity is an unconnected ground transportation entity.
