Abstract

A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium configured to operate a game program. The program may cause an information processing device to execute a step of storing information relating to a game part, a step of displaying a screen including a first interface capable of detecting a first user operation, a determination step of (if the first user operation is detected) determining a mode of the game part to be one of a first mode or a second mode, a change step of changing a part of the screen according to the mode of the game part determined in the determination step, and an execution step of executing the game part in the mode determined in the determination step.

Claims (73)

1. A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium comprising program code that, when executed, causes an information processing device of a user to perform steps of:

retrieving, from a server device communicatively coupled with the information processing device, and storing, in a storing step, on the information processing device, information relating to a game part to be played by the user;

displaying, in a displaying step, on a display of the information processing device, a screen including a first interface configured to detect a first user operation;

determining, in a determination step, when the first user operation is detected, a mode of the game part, the mode of the game part consisting of one of a first mode or a second mode;

changing, in a change step, on the display of the information processing device, a part of the screen according to the mode of the game part, the part of the screen according to the mode of the game part comprising an interface element displaying a game mode and an interface element controlling initiation of the game mode, and maintaining, as a persistent displayed portion, a part of the screen common to the first mode and the second mode, the part of the screen common to the first mode and the second mode comprising at least one game content;

after the change step, on the information processing device, transitioning from the screen including the first interface to a screen of an execution step, and executing, in the execution step, the game part in the mode of the game part;

when the mode of the game part is the first mode, after the game part is executed in the mode of the game part, communicating, to the server device communicatively coupled with the information processing device, an update to predetermined information stored by the server device in association with the user;

when the mode of the game part is the second mode, after the game part is executed in the mode of the game part, not updating information stored in a storage unit of the information processing device and not communicating, to the server device communicatively coupled with the information processing device, the update to predetermined information stored by the server device in association with the user; and

terminating execution of the game part in the mode of the game part, and initiating a new game part, wherein initiating the new game part comprises retrieving a current value of the predetermined information stored by the server.

2. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium according to claim 1 , wherein executing, in the execution step, the game part in the mode of the game part further comprises determining that the game part is in a state of being unable to be continued; and

wherein terminating execution of the game part is performed following determination that the game part is in a state of being unable to be continued.

3. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium according to claim 2 , wherein a step of terminating execution of the game part further comprises automatically ending the game part.

4. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium according to claim 2 , wherein a step of determining that the game part is in the state of being unable to be continued further comprises determining that a predetermined user operation has not been received.

5. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium according to claim 1 , wherein executing, in the execution step, the game part in the mode of the game part further comprises:

providing, on a display of the information processing device, a prompt to provide a predetermined user operation;

determining that the game is not in a state of being unable to be continued when the predetermined user operation is received; and

determining that the game is in the state of being unable to be continued when the predetermined user operation is not received.

6. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium according to claim 5 , wherein determining that the game is not in the state of being unable to be continued when the predetermined user operation is received further comprises:

deducting at least one game resource of the user from stored information associated with the user.

7. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium according to claim 1 , wherein executing, in the execution step, the game part in the mode of the game part further comprises:

when the mode of the game part is the first mode, performing at least one of: automatically ending the game part, and providing, on a display of the information processing device, a prompt to provide a predetermined user operation to continue gameplay; and

when the mode of the game part is the second mode, automatically executing an operation to continue gameplay upon determination that the game part is in a state of being unable to be continued.

8. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium according to claim 1 , wherein executing, in the execution step, the game part in the mode of the game part further comprises:

when the mode of the game part is the first mode and executing the game part comprises deducting at least one game resource of the user from stored information associated with the user; and

when the mode of the game part is the second mode, continuing gameplay without deducting the at least one game resource of the user from stored information associated with the user.

9. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium according to claim 1 , wherein, when the mode of the game part is the first mode, the information processing device of the user is configured to perform steps of:

during the execution step, setting a lock flag for the user; and

following the execution step, removing the lock flag from the user.

10. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium according to claim 9 , wherein the update to predetermined information associated with the user comprises a step of removing the lock flag from the user.

11. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium according to claim 9 , wherein the information processing device of the user is further configured to perform a step of:

when the lock flag is set for the user, imposing a restriction preventing the user from starting a further game in the first mode; and

when the lock flag is removed from the user, removing the restriction.

12. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium according to claim 9 , wherein the information processing device of the user is further configured to perform a step of:

when the lock flag is set for the user, imposing a restriction preventing the user from starting a further game in the second mode; and

when the lock flag is removed from the user, removing the restriction.

13. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium according to claim 12 , wherein the information processing device of the user is further configured to perform steps of:

displaying, in a second displaying step, on the display of the information processing device, the screen including the first interface; and

in the second displaying step, inhibiting selection of the second mode via the first interface.

14. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium according to claim 12 , wherein the game is an asynchronous competition, and wherein the information processing device of the user is further configured to perform steps of:

making a determination of whether the user is scheduled to be first to act in the asynchronous competition or whether the user is scheduled to act after another player; and

imposing the restriction based on the determination.

15. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium according to claim 1 , wherein the information processing device is further configured to perform a step of:

in the case when the mode of the game part is the second mode, after the game part is executed in the mode of the game part, calculating a score of the user, and determining whether the score of the user is higher than a high score of the user for the second mode; and

wherein a step of not communicating the update to the predetermined information associated with the user is provided after determining that the score of the user is not higher than the high score of the user for the second mode.

16. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium according to claim 1 , wherein the information processing device is further configured to perform a step of:

determining, in a reward determination step, based on the mode of the game part, whether the user is eligible for a reward, wherein the reward determination step comprises: when the mode of the game part is the first game mode, determining that the user is in a reward-eligible mode and evaluating one or more criteria to determine the reward, and when the mode of the game part is the second game mode, determining that the user is not in the reward-eligible mode; and

wherein the update to predetermined information associated with the user comprises addition of the reward to the predetermined information associated with the user.

17. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium according to claim 1 , wherein executing the first mode is initiated by deducting at least one game resource of the user from stored information associated with the user.

The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium according to claim 17 , wherein, when the mode of the game part is the first mode, additionally communicating, to the server device communicatively coupled with the information processing device, before the game part is executed in the mode of the game part, a second update to predetermined information associated with the user comprising a change to the at least one game resource of the user.

19. An information processing device comprising:

a storage unit;

a display unit;

a control unit; and

a data connection to a server device;

wherein the control unit is configured to:

retrieve, from the data connection to the server device, and store, in the storage unit, information relating to a game part to be played by a user;

display, on the display unit, a screen including a first interface configured to detect a first user operation;

determine, when the first user operation is detected, a mode of the game part, the mode of the game part consisting of one of a first mode or a second mode;

change, on the display unit, a part of the screen according to the mode of the game part, the part of the screen according to the mode of the game part comprising an interface element displaying a game mode and an interface element controlling initiation of the game mode;

maintain, as a persistent displayed portion, a part of the screen common to the first mode and the second mode, the part of the screen common to the first mode and the second mode comprising at least one game content;

after changing the part of the screen according to the mode of the game part, transition from the screen including the first interface to a screen of an execution step, and execute, in the execution step, the game part in the mode of the game part;

when the mode of the game part is the first mode, after the game part is executed in the mode of the game part, communicate, to the server device via the data connection, an update to predetermined information stored by the server device in association with the user;

when the mode of the game part is the second mode, after the game part is executed in the mode of the game part, not updating information stored in a storage unit of the information processing device and not communicating, via the data connection, the update to predetermined information stored by the server device in association with the user; and

terminate execution of the game part in the mode of the game part, and initiate a new game part, wherein the control unit is configured to initiate the new game part by retrieving a current value of the predetermined information stored by the server device.

20. A control method of a game which is configured to be executed by an information processing device of a user, the control method comprising:

retrieving, from a server device communicatively coupled with the information processing device, and storing, in a storing step, on the information processing device, information relating to a game part to be played by the user;

displaying, in a displaying step, on a display of the information processing device, a screen including a first interface configured to detect a first user operation;

determining, in a determination step, when the first user operation is detected, a mode of the game part, the mode of the game part consisting of one of a first mode or a second mode;

changing, in a change step, on the display of the information processing device, a part of the screen according to the mode of the game part, the part of the screen according to the mode of the game part comprising an interface element displaying a game mode and an interface element controlling initiation of the game mode, and maintaining, as a persistent displayed portion, a part of the screen common to the first mode and the second mode, the part of the screen common to the first mode and the second mode comprising at least one game content;

after the change step, on the information processing device, transitioning from the screen including the first interface to a screen of an execution step, and executing, in the execution step, the game part in the mode of the game part;

when the mode of the game part is the first mode, after the game part is executed in the mode of the game part, communicating, to the server device communicatively coupled with the information processing device, an update to predetermined information stored by the server device in association with the user;

when the mode of the game part is the second mode, after the game part is executed in the mode of the game part, not updating information stored in a storage unit of the information processing device and not communicating, to the server device communicatively coupled with the information processing device, the update to predetermined information stored by the server device in association with the user; and

terminating execution of the game part in the mode of the game part, and initiating a new game part, wherein initiating the new game part comprises retrieving a current value of the predetermined information stored by the server.
