Abstract

A social game and the like that can increase the fun and amusement of a team battle and enhance players' motivation to participate in or continue a game by suppressing an occurrence of any non-participation team not participating in the battle are provided. A guild status determination unit determines, for each guild, whether the guild is in an inactive state or an active state, based on a result of detecting a login state of each player. A guild integrated control unit forcibly disbands a guild (i.e. an inactive guild) determined to be in the inactive state, based on guild activity information notified from the status determination unit. A disbandment notification unit notifies each player belonging to the inactive guild, of the disbandment of the guild.

Claims (50)

1. A method of controlling a server for providing a battle game between groups, to each of which a plurality of players belong, the method comprising:

providing a battle league comprising each of the groups, each of the groups having a group identifier, wherein each of the plurality of players has a player identifier and wherein each player identifier is paired with no more than one group identifier;

by the server, comparing an activity status of each of the groups to one or more predetermined activity criteria, and identifying an inactive group in the groups based on a failure of the inactive group to meet the one or more predetermined activity criteria;

removing, from the battle league, the inactive group, wherein removing the inactive group from the battle league comprises disabling battle league functionality associated with a group identifier of the inactive group; and

after removing the inactive group from the battle league, pairing at least two active groups as opponents within the battle league and conducting a battle between the at least two active groups.

2. The method of controlling the server for providing the battle game between groups of claim 1 , wherein removing the inactive group from the battle league further comprises disbanding the inactive group.

3. The method of controlling the server for providing the battle game between groups of claim 2 , wherein disbanding the inactive group further comprises:

setting each player in the inactive group as an independent player; and

providing, to at least one player in the inactive group, a message indicating that the inactive group has been disbanded.

4. The method of controlling the server for providing the battle game between groups of claim 1 , further comprising providing, to at least one player in the inactive group, a message, comprising:

retrieving, for the at least one player in the inactive group, from a guild management unit of the server, a player identifier of the at least one player; and

providing the message to the player identifier of the at least one player.

5. The method of controlling the server for providing the battle game between groups of claim 1 , further comprising providing, to at least one player in the inactive group, a message, comprising:

causing a terminal device of the at least one player to trigger, on a next login of the at least one player, display of the message within a game client of the at least one player.

6. The method of controlling the server for providing the battle game between groups of claim 1 , further comprising:

prior to removing the inactive group from the battle league, providing, to at least one player in the inactive group, a warning message.

7. The method of controlling the server for providing the battle game between groups of claim 6 , further comprising:

prior to providing the warning message, comparing an activity status of the inactive group to one or more predetermined activity criteria;

identifying at least one criterion in the one or more predetermined activity criteria that is not met by the inactive group; and

providing members of the group including the at least one player with the warning message indicating the at least one criterion.

8. The method of controlling the server for providing the battle game between groups of claim 7 , wherein the one or more predetermined activity criteria comprises a requirement that no member of the inactive group logs in within a predetermined period of time; and

wherein each member of the inactive group is provided with the message.

9. The method of controlling the server for providing the battle game between groups of claim 7 , wherein the one or more predetermined activity criteria comprises a requirement that the guild has not participated in the battle league for a predetermined period of time; and

wherein each member of the inactive group eligible to initiate a battle within the battle league is provided with the message.

10. The method of controlling the server for providing the battle game between groups of claim 1 , wherein removing the inactive group from the battle league further comprises:

identifying a time where the inactive group is not participating in the battle; and

triggering removing the inactive group from the battle league at the time the inactive group is not participating in the battle.

11. The method of controlling the server for providing the battle game between groups of claim 1 , wherein removing the inactive group from the battle league further comprises maintaining the battle league at an original size by adding a new group to the battle league in replacement of the inactive group.

12. The method of controlling the server for providing the battle game between groups of claim 11 , further comprising:

creating the new group from a plurality of formation wait players waiting to form the new group.

13. The method of controlling the server for providing the battle game between groups of claim 12 , wherein removing the inactive group from the battle league comprises disbanding the inactive group and designating a plurality of former members of the inactive group as independent players, and wherein at least one of the formation wait players is a former member of the inactive group.

14. The method of controlling the server for providing the battle game between groups of claim 1 , further comprising adding an existing group to the battle league.

15. The method of controlling the server for providing the battle game between groups of claim 14 , wherein the existing group is selected for addition to the battle league based on a ranking of the existing group.

16. The method of controlling the server for providing the battle game between groups of claim 15 , wherein a plurality of battle leagues are provided, and wherein the existing group is added to the battle league from a second battle league.

17. A server for providing a battle game between groups, wherein each group comprises a plurality of players, the server comprising circuitry configured to perform steps of:

providing a battle league comprising each of the groups, each of the groups having a group identifier, wherein each of the plurality of players has a player identifier and wherein each player identifier is paired with no more than one group identifier;

by the server, comparing an activity status of each of the groups to one or more predetermined activity criteria, and identifying an inactive group in the groups based on a failure of the inactive group to meet the one or more predetermined activity criteria;

removing, from the battle league, the inactive group, wherein removing the inactive group from the battle league comprises disabling battle league functionality associated with a group identifier of the inactive group; and

after removing the inactive group from the battle league, pairing at least two active groups as opponents within the battle league and conducting a battle between the at least two active groups.

18. The server of claim 17 , wherein removing the inactive group from the battle league further comprises disbanding the inactive group by:

setting each player in the inactive group as an independent player; and

providing, to at least one player in the inactive group, a message indicating that the inactive group has been disbanded.

19. A non-transitory computer-readable medium having stored thereon instructions, that, when executed by a server, cause circuitry of the server to execute steps of providing a battle game between groups, wherein each group comprises a plurality of players, said steps comprising:

providing a battle league comprising each of the groups, each of the groups having a group identifier, wherein each of the plurality of players has a player identifier and wherein each player identifier is paired with no more than one group identifier;

by the server, comparing an activity status of each of the groups to one or more predetermined activity criteria, and identifying an inactive group in the groups based on a failure of the inactive group to meet the one or more predetermined activity criteria;

removing, from the battle league, the inactive group, wherein removing the inactive group from the battle league comprises disabling battle league functionality associated with a group identifier of the inactive group; and
