Abstract

A connected component platform (CCP) is disclosed. The CCP receives information about at least one connected component on a vehicle and sensor derived performance information for the vehicle. The CCP develops a suspension setup recommendation for the vehicle based on the information about the at least one connected component and the sensor derived performance information. The suspension setup recommendation for the vehicle is presented on a display.

Claims (75)

1. A system comprising:

a memory;

at least one processor configured to:

initiate a connected component platform (CCP) application;

receive information about at least one connected component on a vehicle;

receive a sensor derived performance information for said vehicle; and

develop, at said CCP application, a suspension setup recommendation for said vehicle based on said information about said at least one connected component and said sensor derived performance information; and

a display to present said suspension setup recommendation for said vehicle,

wherein said at least one processor is further configured to:

receive user specific information selected from the group consisting of: a static user information and a dynamic user information, wherein said static user information comprises skill level information about a user and physical information about said user; and

update, at said CCP application, said suspension setup recommendation for said vehicle based on said user specific information.

2. The system of claim 1 further comprising:

a communication system to:

communicate with at least one sensor to obtain said sensor derived performance information for said vehicle; and

said memory to store said sensor derived performance information for said vehicle.

3. The system of claim 1 wherein said information about said at least one connected component is a product specification for said at least one connected component.

4. The system of claim 1 wherein said static user information comprises:

a make and model of said vehicle.

5. The system of claim 1 wherein said static user information comprises:

a use type for said vehicle.

6. The system of claim 1 wherein said static user information comprises:

a geometry of said vehicle.

7. The system of claim 1 wherein said dynamic user information comprises:

information for an area of real time operation of said vehicle, the information selected from the group consisting of a location, an elevation, a terrain type, and a weather report.

8. The system of claim 1 wherein said at least one processor is configured to:

receive historical performance data for said at least one connected component;

evaluate said sensor derived performance information for said vehicle in light of said information about said at least one connected component and said historical performance data in conjunction with said user specific information;

develop a personalized performance review of an actual performance of said at least one connected component based on a result of said evaluation; and

update, at said CCP application, said suspension setup recommendation for said vehicle based on said personalized performance review.

9. The system of claim 8 wherein said at least one processor is configured to:

receive, from said memory, a suspension maintenance requirement for said at least one connected component;

evaluate said sensor derived performance information in light of said suspension maintenance requirement; and

update, at said memory, said suspension maintenance requirement of said at least one connected component based on a result of said evaluation.

10. A system comprising:

at least one connected component on a vehicle, said at least one connected component is an active suspension of said vehicle;

at least one sensor to monitor a performance aspect of said vehicle;

a mobile computing device, said mobile computing device comprising:

a memory; and

at least one processor to:

initiate a connected component platform (CCP) application;

receive information about said at least one connected component;

receive a sensor derived performance information for said vehicle; and

develop, at said CCP application, a suspension setup recommendation for said vehicle based on said information about said at least one connected component and said sensor derived performance information;

a display to present said suspension setup recommendation for said vehicle,

a suspension controller configured to receive said suspension setup recommendation for said vehicle from said CCP application and automatically implement said suspension setup recommendation on said active suspension, wherein said at least one processor is further configured to:

repeatedly receive real-time said sensor derived performance information for said vehicle from said at least one sensor; and

wherein said suspension controller is further configured to:

receive said repeatedly updated suspension setup recommendation for said vehicle from said CCP application; and

automatically implement at least one said repeatedly updated suspension setup recommendation on said active suspension.

11. The system of claim 10 wherein said at least one sensor monitors said performance of said at least one connected component.

12. The system of claim 10 further comprising:

a communication system to:

communicate with at least one sensor to obtain said sensor derived performance information for said vehicle; and

said memory to store said sensor derived performance information for said vehicle.

13. The system of claim 10 wherein said information about said at least one connected component is a product specification for said at least one connected component.

14. The system of claim 10 wherein said at least one processor is further configured to:

receive user specific information selected from the group consisting of: a static user information and a dynamic user information; and

update, at said CCP application, said suspension setup recommendation for said vehicle based on said user specific information.

15. The system of claim 14 wherein said static user information comprises:

a make and model of said vehicle.

16. The system of claim 14 wherein said static user information comprises:

a use type for said vehicle; and

a geometry of said vehicle.

17. The system of claim 14 wherein said dynamic user information comprises:

information for an area of real time operation of said vehicle, the information selected from the group consisting of a location, an elevation, a terrain type, and a weather report.

18. The system of claim 14 wherein said at least one processor is configured to:

receive historical performance data for said at least one connected component;

evaluate said sensor derived performance information for said vehicle in light of information about said at least one connected component and said historical performance data in conjunction with said user specific information;

develop a personalized performance review of an actual performance of said at least one connected component based on a result of said evaluation; and

update, at said CCP application, said suspension setup recommendation for said vehicle based on said personalized performance review.

19. The system of claim 18 wherein said at least one processor is configured to:
