MEANS FOR CONTROLLING PAYBACK PERCENTAGE OF GAMING DEVICE
Embodiments of the present concept provide means to control the payback percentage of games being played on gaming devices. In one example, a gaming device includes a processor configured to initiate a payback-controlling event and determine a game outcome to display on the game display in response to a gaming event being initiated. Here, the determined game outcome is a payback-controlling outcome when the payback-controlling event satisfies the payback-controlling criterion, and the determined game outcome is a game outcome determined from the base-game paytable when the payback-controlling event does not satisfy the payback-controlling criterion.
1 . A method comprising:
receiving, by an electronic gaming device, a wager associated with a game;
based on receiving the wager, determining a base game paytable and a base game outcome;
determining a loss insertion opportunity configured to override the base game paytable; and
bypassing, based on the loss insertion opportunity, the base game outcome.
2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the base game outcome is a winning outcome and wherein bypassing the base game outcome comprises outputting a losing outcome.
3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the base game outcome is a losing outcome and wherein bypassing the base game outcome comprises outputting a losing outcome.
4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the loss insertion opportunity is configured to occur at a preconfigured percentage of times and wherein the loss insertion opportunity is associated with a loss insertion mechanism configured to insert one or more of: one or more losing outcomes, one or more winning outcomes, one or more free spins, one or more credit awards, one or more extra multipliers, or one or more other bonus mechanisms.
5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein determining the loss insertion opportunity comprises determining one or more of: a true value associated with a loss insertion mechanism or a false value associated with the loss insertion mechanism.
6 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising, based on bypassing the base game outcome, outputting a losing outcome.
7 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
determining a historical variance from the base game paytable satisfies a threshold; and
based on the historical variance from the base game paytable satisfying the threshold, determining a loss insertion opportunity.
8 . One or more non-transitory computer readable media storing processor executable instructions thereon, that when executed by at least one processor, cause the at least one processor to:
receive, by an electronic gaming device, a wager associated with a game;
based on receiving the wager, determine a base game paytable and a base game outcome;
determine a loss insertion opportunity configured to override the base game paytable; and
bypass, based on the loss insertion opportunity, the base game outcome.
9 . The one or more non-transitory computer readable media of claim 8 , wherein the base game outcome is a winning outcome and wherein the processor executable instructions, that, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the at least one processor to bypass the base game outcome, further cause the at least one processor to output a losing outcome.
10 . The one or more non-transitory computer readable media of claim 8 , wherein the base game outcome is a losing outcome and wherein the processor executable instructions, that, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the at least one processor to bypass the base game outcome, further cause the at least one processor to output a winning outcome.
11 . The one or more non-transitory computer readable media of claim 8 , wherein the loss insertion opportunity is configured to occur at a preconfigured percentage of times and wherein the loss insertion opportunity is associated with a loss insertion mechanism configured to insert one or more of: one or more losing outcomes, one or more winning outcomes, one or more free spins, one or more credit awards, one or more extra multipliers, or one or more other bonus mechanisms.
12 . The one or more non-transitory computer readable media of claim 8 , wherein the processor executable instructions, that when executed by the at least one processor, cause the at least one processor to determine the loss insertion opportunity, further cause the at least one processor to determine one or more of: a true value associated with a loss insertion mechanism or a false value associated with the loss insertion mechanism.
13 . The one or more non-transitory computer readable media of claim 8 , wherein the processor executable instructions, when executed by the at least one processor, further cause the at least one processor to, based on bypassing the base game outcome, output a losing outcome.
14 . The one or more non-transitory computer readable media of claim 8 , wherein the processor executable instructions, when executed by the at least one processor, further cause the at least one processor to:
determine a historical variance from the base game paytable satisfies a threshold; and
based on the historical variance from the base game paytable satisfying the threshold, determine a loss insertion opportunity.
15 . An apparatus comprising:
one or more processors; and
memory storing processor executable instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the apparatus to:
receive, by an electronic gaming device, a wager associated with a game;
based on receiving the wager, determine a base game paytable and a base game outcome;
determine a loss insertion opportunity configured to override the base game paytable; and
bypass, based on the loss insertion opportunity, the base game outcome.
16 . The apparatus of claim 15 , wherein the base game outcome is a winning outcome and wherein bypassing the base game outcome comprises outputting a losing outcome.
17 . The apparatus of claim 15 , wherein the base game outcome is a losing outcome and wherein bypassing the base game outcome comprises outputting a losing outcome.
18 . The apparatus of claim 15 , wherein the loss insertion opportunity is configured to occur at a preconfigured percentage of times and wherein the loss insertion opportunity is associated with a loss insertion mechanism configured to insert one or more of: one or more losing outcomes, one or more winning outcomes, one or more free spins, one or more credit awards, one or more extra multipliers, or one or more other bonus mechanisms.
19 . The apparatus of claim 15 , wherein the processor executable instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, further cause the apparatus to, based on bypassing the base game outcome, outputting a losing outcome.
20 . The apparatus of claim 15 , wherein the processor executable instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, further cause the apparatus to:
determine a historical variance from the base game paytable satisfies a threshold; and
based on the historical variance from the base game paytable satisfying the threshold, determine a loss insertion opportunity.
